so i worked in this area over the summer 2 years ago. and i tried to yelp around and kinda go to some popular favorites, but nothing really quenched that hunger the right way... until i came here. it isn't the fact that they give you a lot (they actually give perfect portions for an average joe). but it's the sheer fact of kindness and welcoming that they have, super good multi tasking skills, and good communicative skills. you definitely see it through the local regulars who come by. slowly, visit after visit they remembered my face and knew what i wanted, and remembered stories of all that we talked about. they really take care of you and are quick with the orders as well. i would have to say, this place does not just take the cake for sandwiches in general, but for customer service as well. the locals in the area are not exactly as in-tune with the internet (probably because it's mostly construction/industrial area), so the number of ratings are as high. but let me speak for most to say that this place is one of the best and you will most likely walk out satisfied. plus, good variety of drinks and good brand of chips (dirty). they're all chinese i think, but really, their english is definitely good enough to hold a strong, friendly conversation. at least try it out! i don't give 5's for no reason! read more

I looooove Pick-a-deli! The sandwiches are sooo good, I love how they give u black olives on the side AND a pickle! The beverage selection rivals any convenience store, especially when it comes to energy drinks. The people there are soooooo sweet. Slow service nasty food the lady who made my bagel put a molecule of cream cheese on there and still took 15 minutes to make it

For those of you complaining about the run down building, you should have seen their old one! I felt sorry for them and was happy for them and everyone when they were able to move! The old location never bothered me a bit, as the sandwiches were always very good. Not to mention the service! Yes, they always remember you, even if it has been years since you were last there.. That is impressive. I can't even remember someone's name right after I just met them! My daughter and son-in-law go there everytime they're in town. They make a point of it. It's a deli - what are these people expecinting? I used to work in the area years ago when they were at the old location. I went there all the time, as did my co-workers. I've upgraded this local deli to 5 stars. The sandwiches are just ALWAYS good. I'd go here any day compared to Quiznos, Subway, or Panera. I just had one again the other day, and it's just too solid for 4 stars. Plus I didn't even half to open my mouth and the sandwich lady, grabbed the dutch crunch roll and started toasting it, while at the same time prepping the pastrami. I've been coming to eat hear for about 3 years now since it is very close to my work. This place makes great sandwiches and hamburgers at a great price. The consistency of their food has been the same since I've started going there and I couldn't be happier about it. There are not a lot of options in terms of quick lunch places near where I work. So I was really excited to read about Pick-A-Deli and see what great reviews it got. I went there and I was totally disappointed. First of all, the place is DIRTY. The minute I walked in I didn't feel like eating because my appetite was gone. The place is run down and it does not look clean. For example, napkins and cutlery were set right on top of the trash. Gross. The place just was not nice. After eating at awesome deli's like Sierra Deli in Oakland, this place looked like a run down shop near a freeway on the way to Tracy or some shit, aka the place was GHETTO. Anyways, I sucked it up and ordered a sandwich and it was so so. I looked over the counter as the sandwich was being made and even the food looked sad to be there. The sandwich was mediocre at best. Simple things that can make a difference. I do NOT want a sandwich made with shredded lettuce that fucking goes everywhere. Can't you get some real lettuce leaves? The staff was friendly and that was it. I would not go back to this place. EVER. read more

Place is good. The salad bar is a good cheap option. The pork buns are bomb. The over roasted turkey is great. The owners are cool... And the lady named Sunny who works here is a sweetheart. I wish they were open for dinner and sometimes prices fluctuate depending on who is working the register. Highly recommended... Good people to support. read more

Sorry, the owners seem to be nice people, but the lack of cleanliness turns me off big time. Just look at the floor, looks like it has not been cleaned, ever. I witnessed a very unsafe food practice on early morning, (rather disgusting) and that was the last time for me. I work next to this place ,and I love how they take care of their regular customers .

The menu was really confusing. The workers seemed really pushy and were rushing me through my order. I had an oven roasted turkey sandwhich which was supposed to be $5.70. Instead I was charged for Turkey Avacodo at $6.70. I would choose subway any day over this place. read more

First time I ate a salame sandwich from here, I got sick...I still gave it a second try and not only did I get food poisoning so did my co-worker. They most likely aren't using proper refridgeration of their meats/cheeses and that rag that's used to wipe down the cutting board, and the knives may have something to do with it... A great place to get your favorite sandwiches. It's a No frills No chills place: you go here you tell them what sandwich you like according to their price written on a board on the wall you grab a bag of chip and a can of soda then you grab your sandwich and pay. You seat down and you eat...Very simple.They have a big screen TV where you can watch some news.This place is no different from any other delis where you usually get your sandwiches BUT what they offer you is they give you more substantial amount of meat in your sandwich + they also give you a slice of pickle and a couple black olives and a piece of pepperoncini pepper. They have seating inside and some of the outside.They have everything from pastrami to roast beef and different types of brad with all the condiments. This would be my old NEW hangout in the morning for it's a good 3.5 miles from my house which is accessible by riding a bicycle. I don't know what some of the people who didn't rate this good are thinking of. It's just a deli, not some Michelin rated restaruant. The people are so nice, the food is always good, the price is right, and they bust their tails to get food out quickly.
