Just an average expensive deli. sandwich. Nothing exceptional. Prefer Togo's. Just being honest. lol!

Sandwiches are so good! I loved the service, and the staff was super friendly. It's also a nice place to get some work done or study. I'll definitely be coming back!

This is a great neighborhood deli with delicious sandwiches. They have a good selection to choose from and fresh bread rolls that are soft. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoor and outdoor seating available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My bf wanted to try a new spot. He seen this place and seen how many good reviews it had and we had to try it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As you walk in there's a seating area to your left and to your right is where you can place your order or order freshly sliced meat! Everything is cut fresh![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You pull a ticket so your number can be called and that's where you place your order. Decided to get a turkey sandwich on Dutch and a ham sandwich for my lil bestie. The sandwich is huge! So definitely worth it and you can even share the sandwich tbh. I also wanted some soup and they had chicken noodle soup which was $5 for a lil container. Honestly, I really enjoyed that soup so did my lil bestie. Definitely a 10 out of 10! Never had such an amazing sandwich! Definitely our go to! Also, they have freshly made to-go dinners where you can pop in the oven!

It was just ok for me. First time here, and came in on a weekend for lunch after a workout. I'm a huge fan of Little Lucca in South San Francisco, but I wanted to find something in the East Bay to scratch the itch. I wasn't really impressed, unfortunately. I always get the same thing everywhere-- pastrami with pepper jack on dutch crunch and I have to say, it was kind of dry and lacking in flavor???? It's whatever to me. I guess if I was desperate and did not want to drive out and pay toll, it would get the job done, but I feel like it's over hyped. I was just expecting a lot more with all the wonderful reviews.

I felt like getting a sandwich and decided to check out Luccas. I ordered the smoked pepper turkey sandwich on Dutch Crunch with jalapeños and pepper-Jack. My buddy picked the turkey on sourdough. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was lunch time and a little busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One thing to know is there is two places to get your food. If you phoned in your order right after you walk in the front turn right and pick up at the right end of the counter. Now if you didn't go towards the middle and make sure to grab a number from the counter. I joined the line and was about to be and then realized they were calling numbers. Once they call your number you order and wait around and pay when you pick up your food. They have a couple refrigerators for cold beverages and a freezer which holds ready to meals such as chicken parm, spaghetti and meatballs etc. Once you grab your order there are some tables on the left of the entrance so you can sit. My sandwich was good and the Dutch Crunch was fresh. Not too much mayonnaise and the meat ratio was good. One last thing they serve the sandwich on a little plastic tray. When you go to clear up your table they have recycling and compost cans for disposal but the trays go in a little box on the far right of the counter. Overall a good meal and experience and if I am in Castro Valley looking for a sandwich I would definitely go again.

This is my favorite Italian deli in the local area. My favorite is Little Lucca's in South San Francisco- the sandwiches are double the size! But anyways-Always busy here with phone calls and in person orders, even at 3 PM!! I love the shopping area of pastas and "to go "pans of Italian food here!!

Not sure how I hadn't heard of this place before, but a coworker ordered pickup for us today. I got the salami with smoked Gouda on Dutch crunch bread--generous portion and very reasonably priced. I'll definitely be coming back!

Looking for a nice whole in the wall spot for a good hearty sandwich. Definitely wouldn't mind going here again especially for their Dutch crunch. It was really soft and had great flavor. Service was quick and friendly and I ended up getting a build your own sandwich. My only complaint is I wish they had more spread toppings not so much of a variety but sandwhich was still very good,

There is something just so wonderfully simple about Luccas. I'll admit, they're not the best, life changing sandwich shop I've been to, but their ingredients are always fresh and the employees are very kind. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is very charming, it has the old school deli look to it[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and you can order cheese, meats, premade dinners and accoutrements. I got a Luccas Combo with Swiss on Dutch crunch and it was pretty good!

Classic deli sandwiches. Delicious deli meats! Great service, they're so nice here! It does take a while to order and get your food. Don't forget to get a number right when you come in! Totally worth the wait though. They also have frozen lasagnas and other foods you can bake/heat up at home. The lasagna was SO yummy!! Takes 2 hours to bake from frozen (maybe even more).

All these years I been passing by this sandwhich shop and didn't realize this is another location from the one in South City . It just hit me 3 weeks ago that it's the same sandwhich spot lol . So I been here 4 times in the past 3 weeks now . It's something about the way they make sandwiches here that I just love . I haven't had a bad experience yet. My only complaint is that it's hard making a decision on which type of bread and meat I want lol . The bread is always so fresh no matter what type of bread your order . I still haven't had the chance to try the smoked cheddar cheese because it's always sold out ( which is not a bad thing but damn it , I want to try it at least once lol) anyway the customer service is always excellent but [[HIGHLIGHT]]some of the customers are rude .. maybe people are " hangry " when they are there .. who knows ..[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but overall amazing sandwiches , great customers services, reasonable prices and I also like the pre- made meals and spinach dip ..

Finally got to try Lucca's. I don't eat sandwiches often, but when I do, I want a really good one. One of my favorite sandwich spots is Little Lucca in Burlingame and South San Francisco, but Lucca's isn't related to them. Parking was a bit tough to find during lunchtime. When you walk in, you grab a ticket number like you're at the DMV. When they call your number, you go up to the counter and place your order. I got a peppered turkey sandwich with all the fixings and extra mayo on a sweet Italian roll. This has to be one of the better sandwiches I've had in a while. Everything tasted fresh, and the flavors were balanced just right. I can see why this place is so highly rated and why so many people keep coming back. If you're looking for a high-quality, classic sandwich without the quirky sauces or toppings like Ike's, this is the place to go.

Ask the Community - Luccas Italian Delicatessen

What is on the Lucca Combo?

Mortadella and 2 different types of salami

How can I have it delivered?

You can call and ask them

Is it open now, I've been totally craving Luccas?

Hell yea they're open. Pick one up for me !!

Are they open during the shelter in place? I just called during the published open hours and all I got was a beeping sound. Can anyone tell me?

They are definitely open. I just picked up raviolis, tortellini, and lasagna. A sign on the door says they are closed Sunday's.

Is this affiliated with Little Lucas in South San Francisco?

No. This is a family run business that is not related to the restaurant in San Francisco.

Do they sell the different deli meats separately (e.g. By 1/4 lb) so I can make charcuterie?

Yes! I've seen customers buy the deli meats by the pound :)

I would have much preferred that they had tossed it with the dressing and served it on a real plate instead of in plastic, but I can't complain too much, because the lettuce was crisp and fresh, the croutons were lovely and fresh, and it came with authentic shaved Reggiano! I honestly couldn't figure out what was supposed to be award-winning about it. It tasted like a standard, basic pizza. Nothing terrible, but nothing memorable either. There are several pizza shops around the Bay Area making much better pizza without anywhere near this amount of hype. I think social media and Instagram have gotten a little ridiculous with constantly declaring certain places "must-try" or "the best." Sometimes the hype becomes bigger than the actual food, and that's exactly how this place felt to me. For all the attention surrounding Tony and his pizza, I expected something exceptional. Instead, I've genuinely had backyard homemade pizzas that impressed me more. Maybe I'm missing something, but if you're going to call a pizza award-winning, it should taste noticeably different from an average pizza. This one simply didn't. Not horrible--just incredibly overrated.

I miss a complimentary bread bar, and Rigatoni's has never failed with that :) Service is friendly and our meals came out accordingly. A few standout comforting dishes: the Rigatoni Bolognese, Broccoli & Chicken Rigatoni, Cheese Ravioli, House Made Lasagna, and the Fettuccine Alfredo to name a few. The lasagna comes with a rich meat sauce, but what I love about the rigatoni bolognese is that it comes in a cream sauce which is just so tasty. If you're wanting to try the smoked pork chop, decent but 2 thin cuts and tastes like a breakfast ham. I'll definitely try the steak with mushrooms next time. Service friendly, efficient and welcoming. Food reasonably priced and delicious...if you have realistic expectations you'll enjoy the food and casual dining. Of course best to dine in (during non peak times) vs take out where sauce dries out or absorbed into the pasta. Place clean and organized. Plenty of lot parking during non peak times (lunch and weekends are chaos!) along with free street parking.
