I can't tell you how many times I've driven by places like this in my lifetime, not giving them a second thought. But I had no idea how much money can be saved by scavenging for auto parts here. First of all, I should let you know I have absolutely zero knowledge about car maintenance and repair. What I do know is that car parts, especially from the dealership, are astronomically priced. "You want to charge me how much for this piece of plastic trim that goes around the windshield? You've got to be kidding me!" I recently bought an older subaru for driving my dirty and wet pug back and forth from the river. I wanted to fix a few things that either didn't work, or were cosmetically impaired. Specifically, I was looking for the lid to the sunglass holder in the roof, some plastic flashing for the windshield, speaker covers for the doors in the backseat, and the electric switches for the window control on the driver's door in the same make/model/year Subaru I'd just purchased. It was a tall order, but would you believe me if I told you I found everything I needed for less than $35? Talk about one-stop shopping! It's so difficult to determine how many stars to award this experience. Yes, I found everything I needed for a bargain. However, this has to be one of the most intimidating, uncomfortable, overwhelming places I've ever been. There is a long line to enter the facility as everyone checks in with staff electronically, has a photo taken, and signs a waiver. There are rows and rows of old, rusty cars sitting up on blocks, as far as you can see, and I'm sure the insurance liability is a nightmare. I can only imagine how many injuries occur in this place each year. While vehicles are organized in lots by make and model, it takes a lot of exploration to find exactly what you're looking for. Many of the cars are picked over, having been stripped of the most popular parts and accessories. Not everyone is as lucky as I was my first time out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's really no customer service to speak of.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is apparently an inventory, and the staff at the front desk are able to look up specific makes and models, but none of the cars I was directed to were where they said they'd be.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So I found aimlessly strolling through the rows and rows of cars to be the best way to find what I was looking for. If you're up for an adventure, looking to save a few dollars, and don't mind spending a few hours with some folks who are definitely a little rough around the edges, Pick-n-Pull is just the place you want to be. read more

They purchased it with a blown motor. They will gladly sell you that dead motor as good so can get your cash and if you don't get it installed to find out it is bad and take it out again, so you can meet the 30 day warranty they get to keep your money. So what's a couple of removals and installations $1000 of lost money. Even if you get it returned you don't get your money back, store credit so they can abuse you in the future. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Disrespectful employees treat you like scum on the phones and especially in person as well as the PA loudspeakers starting at an hour before they close telling you to get the F out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Degenerate robots. Their prices are BS by the time you are charged their base price, their fraudulent core fees on almost every part that no one in the industry charges because they are not cores, and their crooked environmental fees that you are required to pay upkeep on their property. You are paying more than the expensive yards, or new parts and they don't have to pay parts pullers, they make you do all the work! Their parts quality is less than what you are charged for. You are charged for dents and destruction. A vehicle gets smashed hard in the front and breaks half the parts on the engine, you still have to pay full price(they don't sell cores or adjust the price for quality) just as a body part that has a ding or completely folded over on itself, sold as perfect, full price. It would be great if the company folded but they are making too much money off the backs of hard working low income people that can not afford to take their vehicles to shops. Worse than the worst used car salesman. Always check with the yards that just give you the parts at the counter and do all the research for you. You will most likely come out ahead of these establishments. Let's hope there is an afterlife so every terrible tier of owners and employees gets the full effect of their actions!!!!! read more

Dealing with this junk yard has been one of the most frustrating and costly experiences I've ever had--thanks in large part to one particular employee whose name I won't mention (but if you've been there, you probably know exactly who I'm talking about). On Tuesday 4/22 I submitted a request to donate a vehicle to Habitat For Humanity (who are GREAT by the way) and they contracted Pick-n-Pull to come pick up my donated vehicle. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was told that P-N-P would contact me by phone within 48 hours. They didn't.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So, I called P-N-P who then scheduled a pick up for Saturday (4/26). [[HIGHLIGHT]]When the tow truck driver didn't call me by noon (I was told via text from P-N-P that the driver would call me prior to their arrival) I called P-N-P and was told that Google maps had a wrong zip code for me so they couldn't pick up my donated vehicle and rescheduled for Tuesday (4/29) and Tuesday they did not call or pick up my donated vehicle.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called them and was told they still had the zip code issue and that a driver had tried to pick up my vehicle but because of the zip code could not. No driver had called me that day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So, we rescheduled for Thursday (5/1) and was assured that the zip code issue had been resolved. They told me the donated vehicle would be picked up by noon today. It was not. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called P-N-P and was told they'd call me back in ten minutes after they reached the tow truck driver. They did not (they haven't called me when they've said they would once).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So, I called P-N-P again and was told that the tow truck driver was too busy and couldn't pick the vehicle up until next week. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have told them from the start that the county will be repaving the street in front of my house beginning 5/5 for over a week and that I'm going out of town tomorrow, which I can't change. The urgency of the pick up doesn't seem to affect them[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Habitat for Humanity has had to get involved and has contacted P-N-P several times being assured that they'd get it done. This is ridiculous.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As a retired customer service person of 50 years of experience I can say that this is beyond unacceptable and should not happen for any business that values their customers. I was looking to sell an old truck parts. Pick-n-pull made me an offer, had me email them my documentation, and scheduled pick up. Two weeks later, the driver refused to come get my vehicle because he had questions about documentation, in spite of it being pre-approved. So I contacted corporate and they assured me it was a mistake, and rescheduled the pickup. Another two weeks passed and I get a call, from the same driver, telling me that he remembers me and is still not willing to come get my truck. I then get a call saying that if I will go into their office and do more paperwork, they will reschedule it... again. So, after a month of waiting, two days off work waiting for pickups that didn't happen, and getting the total run around, I had to cancel the whole order. The corporate end seemed professional enough, but the don't seem to be on the same page as their local venders at all. They offered me $117 for an 05 Volvo S80 T6 that runs and drives, no damage It's a mechanic or part seller's dream car. These things are extremely valuable and highly sought after, they sell for $8-9k used. Its a 2.9L 6 cylinder twin turbo, increasingly rare engine. I didn't bother haggling with the customer service rep on the phone, it didn't seem like it was negotiable, felt like I was talking to a robot. This place is an excellent source for used and recycled parts. They're organized, have carts you can use for carrying large parts, and they're business hours (9am-6pm everyday) are convenient for people who have normal working schedules. My points of contention: *They tend to charge high on miscellaneous small items such as - interior/exterior plastic fasteners - nuts and bolts of all sizes - wiring harnesses - and interior/exterior moulding pieces Now I understand charging a bit more for a harness because it has scrap value. However, when I bring a coil pack harness I pulled to the counter; get a quote thats $10 more than what the harness costs on eBay, that's when I have a problem. The point is; I'm taking my time to pull a part that, 90% of the time, is wire scrap. So, you'd think the price would be just above what clean insulated wire scrap value is at the time. I brought this to the attention of the cashier, and he not only didn't care, but flat out told me: "Everything costs money here." That response borders w/ rude, stupid, incoherent, and irrelevant. Come on, man. There has to be some haggle room here. I know there are many more regular patrons that feel the same way. I don't mean to rag on them so much, cause I think the positive aspects much outweigh the negatives. So, sorry about that and thanks guys. read more

My car is no longer being made, nor do I want to pay top prices for new parts. Pick N Pull's admittance fee of $2 is a small price to pay to get good quality parts that I know will fit. In the end it's about 1/3 of the cost of new parts. Just remember to bring a set of tools because you will need to remove/dismantle/disassemble the part you are in need of off of a junk car. Additionally, parts can be returned if they do not work for store credit. When you stop and think about it it's recycling in action because old parts from cars that no longer work get new life in your car, plus you learn really quickly how to take out the part needed and then how to place it in your car. It's a true win, win, win situation all the way around. read more

They called again and said it was now $95 since they didn't realize my tires were also sold. When they came to pick it up, they said my Cadillac Converter was missing.. yes, because I sold that, too. After talking with Sherwood (the location closest to us) and getting accurate part info that matched with what the auto body shop said, we called portland south to see if they had a part (Sherwood did not have this part). After being on the initial hold, this rude employee that we've had the displeasure of dealing with before (both in-person and on the phone), put us on hold mid-sentence when we were in the process of telling him what we were needing. We thought he hung up on us. That same person finally comes back on and we said, "I was just talking with you," and they say, "no you weren't." He then told us that the Sherwood pick n pull guy (that looked up our needed part in-depth) was a liar and that we were making things up. Over the course of several months, we've had to deal with this same rude employee over the phone and in-person several times, and his info has NEVER been accurate once and he has zero customer service skills. While on my way through portland on a road trip totaling about 3000 miles I picked up 4 tires from the Sherwood location advertised as 175/65 r14 for their PREMIUM used tires at 140. I assumed since they were labeled and priced as a set of 4 they would all be the advertised size. After discovering they were not I drove AN HOUR AND A HALF BACK to the location in se on 113th ave because it was closer where they informed me that since they were not marked with a grease pen that I didn't purchase them from pick and pull even though I had my receipt clearly stating I had purchased them from a pick and pull. I called the Sherwood location and was told if I wanted to drive the 30+minutes across town I could talk to their manager who I'm assuming was near enough to have spoke to on the phone and they MIGHT be able to work something out. I am DRIVING ON CORDS right now when I would have accepted some NOT PREMIUM used tires that fit even. I BACKTRACKED AN HOUR AND A HALF AND GOT SHIT ON AND TOLD I WAS A LIAR. I'm pretty easy to please and will even eat food I find hairs in eating out and not bitch but now I'm out 70 bucks in worthless tires 15+dollars in gas and more than 3 hours of time and I'm probably going to have to come home early due to how much I have to spend now and for 8 bucks more than the price I paid I could have had 4 new tires delivered to my door. This is called "winter hours" but is actually pretty arbitrary. Then you have to get past the unbelievably rude and unnecessarily patronizing people at the front desk. I just signed up to review this place because I was almost scared away by a lot of negativity both here and a few other web sites. I was all set to go and I read a bunch of stuff about this location and Sherwood and I changed my mind. Then I talked to a friend who goes there all the time and likes it, so I decided to give them a shot. The staff are nice, they have a good selection, the parts I got were pretty cheap. I am thinking about doing an online business, I know absolutely nothing about cars, I kept bringing "whicha-ma-hoozits" to the counter for pricing and they were glad to help. I ended up with two headlights, a shift knob, and a fuel filter for $13 plus the $2 entrance fee. Checking ebay looks like I can actually make a tad off them provided I can ship cheap enough. I would recommend this place to anyone especially if you are looking for yourself, parts are cheaper than buying brand new. read more
