First we went to look at a 2015 Lexus is 250 and the engine bay was dirty and most bolts were rusted. Asked to look at a 2018 Passat and the car wouldn't start because of a dead battery. Test drove a Nissan 370 Z with 37,000 miles on it and it broke down mid test drive. I know it's not Columbia Motors fault but they should be maintaining and taking care of their vehicles if they want people to be safe on the road. Safe to say will not be going to Columbia Motors again. read more

I have had 2 interactions with this dealer and they both have been horrible. I have been messaging Vik, an employee, on facebook marketplace to do a trade. Vik told me that they would be opened Saturday till 5pm from 10am. I arrived at 12pm and all the gates were closed. After I arrived Vik texted me that we would have to reschedule and that they were closing for the day due to the snow. There were no tire tracks in the snow. I don't believe anyone was there in the first place. When we first started messaging I told him not to waste my time and that's exactly what Vik did. As for the 2nd interaction, I went to see a car with a rebuilt title. They said the car had minor damage from the previous owner but when we pulled up the car tax pictures, the car had been totaled. Some of the negative reviews on here are funny. It's a used car lot. You have to do your research, have your mechanic check it out then make an informed decision which the staff at Columbia Motors lets you do. Some of the titles are salvaged, some cars are brand new or slightly used. The first thing Dima and Vic told me when I asked about the car I was interested in was that the title was salvaged. I test drove it, took it to my mechanic, bought the car a few days later and dropped it off to have some work done on it. 2 weeks in and I have a luxury car at half the price. Dima and Vic were great to work with. Use some caution and common sense before you buy and you won't be disappointed working with this dealer. read more

I enjoyed the no pressure approach and it's pretty clear they have low prices but that's because all their cars are bought from salvage and kinda slapped back together. I bought a car from them I otherwise couldn't afford, they were up front about it being totaled at one point. It drove and seemed fine to me at the time. So I took it to another mechanic and he pointed out the shoddy work they did to put a new front on the car and how it was a little off center. Also, they pointed out that the passenger side airbag sensor was in pieces. Yikes. I paid a couple thousand to redo the front and now the car is working fine. Buyer VERY BEWARE, you might get a good deal or you might get screwed. read more

No class. Intelligent well spoken individuals, but greasy stereotypical salesmen to the core. I showed up near closing to look at a truck. I apologized I didn't know they closed so early and said I'll call you guys in the morning to schedule an appointment. I called and scheduled an appointment to look at the truck as soon as they opened at 10, I tell them what truck they say yep we'll see you then, I drive out there at 11:45, less than 2 hours later, after I drove there on my lunch break, 20 minutes each way, wasting my gas and my time, after I bought a Carfax for $40 on the way in, and when I get there the guy tells me someone called and put a hold on it from out of state? Could have just called me to let me know? Doesn't apologize just says it like it is, then tells me maybe I should look at some other trucks on the lot. Classic bait and switch nonsense. Most of the cars are rebuilt the truck I was looking at was repaired poorly, but well enough from a distance and I am pretty sure the frame was bent about an inch to the right in the middle it was hit in the rear, google the VIN numbers. The other truck I looked at looks really nice but it was hit in the front, while I was looking at it, I grabbed hold of the bumper and I could lift the whole bumper up and down a full inch like it wasn't bolted on more like it was hanging from fasteners in plastic parts above or something. Get a better system, take care of people better, if you schedule an appointment hold to it or at least call and cancel. You guys inconvenienced me, wasted about $100 of my money and lost a customer for life, thanks for nothing. You might have sold a truck today, but you bought yourself a one star instead, deal with it and learn from it. read more

Out of state buyers - beware!!!! When I first was interacting with Columbia Motors, I was excited to hear that they eagerly worked with out-of-state buyers. When I was able to negotiate the price of the car to cover the cost of shipping ($1600 from OR to NM), I thought I had hit the jackpot of dealerships. I was very wrong. I purchased a 2016 Subaru, in full, from Columbia Motors on September 30th from out-of-state. After being told my car would ship immediately, I found out that the request to pick it up had not even been submitted, and was submitted three days after my purchase, only after I repeatedly followed up through call and email. Per Columbia's policy, buyers can expect their title within 25 days of purchase. I received my title 76 days after I purchased my vehicle in full. Yes, you read that correctly, 76 days. During this time, I reached out to Columbia every other week through call and email to check on the status of my title. It was only after I called every few hours, left emails, and asked to speak to the general manager that Columbia discovered they had not submitted the titling paperwork to the DMV correctly. I was told I'd be sent another temporary trip permit when mine expired on October 25, but never received one. 76 days, with no trip permit, and no one from Columbia checking to see what the delay was. While driving my car for the last few months, I have had to repair the heater, which was completely unusable upon arrival. My rear tire has been leaking air since the car was delivered and is becoming rapidly unsafe to drive on, and I will now have to replace all 4 tires costing me upwards of $700. Not what you want when buying a car that you was "thoroughly inspected." When you purchase a car from out-of-state, you hope and pray that you won't be exploited, and that the people you're dealing with wouldn't intentionally screw you over. I no longer think that's true with Columbia Motors. This has been the most stressful car purchasing experience of my life, and I wouldn't wish that stress on anyone. Save yourself (and your hard-earned money, which will go to repair costs) and RUN from this dealership. read more

Best experience ever buying a car! From the first impression, to signing the paperwork. The whole process was stress free and fun. Good honest people. We were immediately greeted by Mike when my husband and I walked up to the dealership for the first time, and within minutes we were in the car we wanted (Lexus RX350) and test driving it. I was impressed to see that the Lexus was in excellent condition, well taken care of, detailed, freshly washed and practically brand new at 17k miles. No pressure from Mike as he allowed us to make our decision and answered any and every question we had about the car. We came back the next day to sign paperwork. We are from WA and were very pleased to find out they handle all the tax, tags, paperwork, DMV fees for us, which was a huge time saver! Absolutely the worst car buying experience ever. Bought the car in June. Brought back for a sensor when it wouldn't shift less than a week later. Had it back for ten minutes, had to turn around and bring it back. Needs a new transmission. They had their guy put in not one but two transmissions because the first one wasn't right. Had the car back a week. Won't start. Starter bolts were stripped with all the prior work. Had it back two weeks, transmission malfunction light goes on. Used warranty to have local Ford dealer replace, because I don't trust this shop. Got it back and decided to trade this lemon in. Dealer will give me $1500 for it. I paid 7,000, plus 2k for the warranty. It was in the shop for two of the four months I've had it, and now I get to take a loss for $7500. These guys take a great game but cannot be trusted. If I could give ZERO stars I would. read more

I wrote to Columbia Motors repeatedly. The never returned a single call or an email. The cost of the repair to date is over $3000. While I was initially happy with the transaction, Their complete lack of follow through made me think much less of the organization and the owners in particular. Out of the many local dealerships within the Portland metro area, the staff at Columbia Motors have been the friendliest, most knowledgable and helpful when it comes to buying a used car. From my own experience I saw that they are truly dedicated to customer satisfaction! I was looking for gas efficient sedan, something newer but affordable for a college student. At first the high class luxury vehicles and SUVs that are displayed on Columbia Motors' website had me worried, but after a pleasant phone call, the sales representative assured me he would let me know as soon as they come across something! It wasn't too long before Maks got me behind the wheel of an 09 Ford Focus, with low gas mileage and the cheapest price around! Being a used car, Maks made it very clear on the services it had undergone and the warranty options which were available for me. His level of honesty made this one of the most comforting purchase I have ever made! It's been almost a year, and I have yet to report any problems with my ride! What they don't advertise is that most of their cars are salvaged title. What that means is that they were in accidents so bad insurance deemed it wasn't worth fixing, or the vehicle was totaled. I went to check out a vehicle I saw online, first I did my own research and found pictures of it at an auction in Texas with the whole front end destroyed. When I went to check it out in person I asked to see paperwork on it or anything about its past and they just gave me the run around saying they don't know about its past much and they're selling it for a customer and etc. They price their cars as if they weren't in an accident or salvaged. The good side is they are very friendly... But I would be too if I were selling vehicles that were salvaged. read more

This was the most awful car-buying experience I've ever had. While I absolutely love my car, it has taken over a month to complete the entire buying process (I'd initially been promised the car would be mine within days). The four main things that really got to me and made this an absolute headache: 1) The day I went in for a test drive, I told them I wanted to buy and decided to facilitate the loan process right then and there through their bank (bad idea in hindsight). I completed all of the necessary information and left thinking that I'd hear back from them in a few days as promised. In a span of 2 weeks after this, I called a couple times to checkup and was finally told that the person handling my sale had left. It seemed like they didn't even care whether they sold the car because no one followed up with me. 2) After this, I worked with another employee to purchase the car. I was weary that something else would interfere with the sale, so I called frequently to make sure things were on track ... each time, I would ask that the employee call me back as soon as he had an update on anything, but days would go by and leave me wondering if this guy cared about making the sale. 3) I would always end these mentioned calls asking if there was ANYTHING else that was needed on my end, anything. Each time I'd be reassured that everything was fine, I was set to go. Lo and behold, I walk into the office on the day I'm scheduled to purchase the car, and no one is aware that I'm buying on that day. In fact, the employee there asked which car I was there for and just straight-up handed me the keys without checking my ID : | I told her I wasn't there for a test-drive, I was there to sign paperwork for the vehicle. She then asked for my driver's license, which is a Virginia license (I'm relatively new to Oregon). When I handed it over she said that I couldn't purchase without an Oregon ID : | . This is when I really lost it internally. These people had had a copy of my license on file for a month and I'm just now hearing about this. 4) After all this, without an Oregon driver's license mind you, I was actually able to buy the car. I was so relieved to finally drive away from the lot when I noticed that after 2 miles out from the dealership, the gas light turned on. : D read more

I purchased a low-mileage (clean title) MINI Cooper S from Columbia Motors. The experience was fantastic. They helped me secure a great loan through a Portland credit union, got the paperwork squared away in about an hour, and even delivered the MINI to my house. Steve is a great guy and he really knows cars. He and his brother were mechanics prior to opening up Columbia and they're really passionate about cars. Very disappointed with this place. We paid a deposit to put a car on hold, we told them we were going to buy it, this was after a week or two of communicating with them. The manager then called us saying that we can't put a deposit down because they have been burned in the past, then proceeded to give our money back, okay...understandable I guess. Then the manager said we would have to send them a pre-qualification letter to put the car on hold. We contacted our insurance who proceeded to give us the desired loan information and emailed it over. About 20 minutes before Columbia Motors closed my husband called them to verify they received the desired information. The manager said everything looks great we will talk about the loan information after the weekend. Monday morning comes and they call saying the car has SOLD. Ummm excuse me? From our understanding the car was on HOLD. We are extremely disappointed. The sales person who originally helped us, John, was very helpful. If you are absolutely forced to go here against your will; go to John! He is incredibly helpful and actually tries even after his manager screwed us over. If you can avoid this place, please do. Or at least don't be in contact with the manager. Slimy, to say the least! read more

I am more then happy with the 2003 Audi that I purchased from Columbia, Fillip & John are great guys who truly want to see that you are happy & are more then willing to work with you in purchasing a car. One of the only used car dealers that you feel comfortable in and not like your about to get scammed. Their mechanics are young and inexperienced, they can't properly inspect and diagnose vehicles, so don't expect anything you buy from here to be a good deal, it probably has issues that they missed but claim to have inspected every vehicle. Later in the year we found out that it came with some complications. Maks, the owner of the business, was the most kind, humble and professional businessman that took care of the cost due to my financial situation. At first I was thrilled with purchasing a car from Columbia Motors, they had great reviews, very nice knowledgeable salesmen, and seemed to be very honest about the way they do business. I absolutely love the vehicle I purchased (Subaru Crosstrek) but fast forward 3 weeks later, I still have not received my license plates (sent to the wrong licensing), 6 days after driving the vehicle to and from work I noticed a grinding sound on the rear brakes, and luckily enough for me I was able to change out my brakes before any serious damage was created. (metal-metal, no brake pads left), the horn is non existent, and the forward wind shield wiper fluid mechanism does not work.. which is not a great situation while living in WA state. After informing Columbia Motors of the required maintenance, they stated that they are not able to reimburse any of the repairs, unless I am able to drive back to Portland from Bellingham WA to have their mechanics fix the vehicle. With not having any rear brakes, that was not an option. I am not blaming Columbia Motors, but I recommend you guys ensure that your mechanics are actually completing their inspections and doing it right the first time so your customers won't have to pay for repairs that shouldn't have to be fixed in the first place. read more

good experience with Max. I bought a car with prior body damage (repaired) advertised at a steep discount, 20-25% off blue book. No haggling needed. They were very upfront about the nature of the damage and repairs and showed me the vehicle on salvage.com which had photos of the damage and confirmed that it had been side swiped only. NO attempt was made to pawn off the car as pristine or to extract full blue book price. I have put 1,000 miles on it already and it runs fine. I bought an extended warranty as a hedge that was probably unnecessary but does offer some additional piece of mind. They offered top dollar for my high mileage wagon as a trade in, in a very transparent process, which i appreciated. read more

Went to see the car I wanted that they had listed online. I very happy with it and the staff that greeted me. But then they gave me a bogus excuse for why they could not take my trade in at the value for the amount I thought was fair and that they agreed would be fair as well once he looked up how much it can be resold for. To begin with I already was $4000 below market value. I was willing to put half the vehicle sale amount down and if needed more then I'd finance the rest, they claimed the credit process takes 24 hours. I called them 24 hours later they told me it will take more time. 48 hours later still they needed more time and that they'll call me when they hear from Denali Credit Union. 70 hours later no word, they said they'd call me then there should be no need to call them as again. 4+ days later they call me to tell me that I was denied financing. Now, I have means the means of buying the car outright, or working with a local lender that I have in the past, who's been begging me to get another car loan through them. If this was going to be the case, I would have gone either of those routs. But then they tell me that "the car was sold yesterday!!" Had I put down $500 deposit they would have been able to hold the car for me. Well thank you for telling me NOW that "had I...". If I would have known that was even possible I would have put down the $500 deposit a while ago. Frustrating is an understatement. I did my research, the deal was a good one, and the car was the one I wanted. I knew I could not find a better deal elsewhere even though I knew I wasn't working with the most honest of dealers. This outcome is the product of incompetence and unprofessionalism. Should make someone think twice before buying from them. In some sense I am happy it didn't work out, who knows what other frustrations would arise had I gone forward with doing business with this company. read more
