Easily the worst golf course and golf experience in the area. I'll be detailed because the incredible hostile man at the front desk said he'd be commenting on this, so I want all the details here for everyone's We came to the course with 8 guys all 40-50 year old. We planned a 4 vs. 4 team scramble and got two of the first tee times of the day (7am and 710am). Two of the guys were only going to do the first 9 holes, so we mentioned this to the guy at front desk. He said it was fine, was friendly, and helped us coordinate the teams so we could keep moving after the two guys left. All was good and we finished the front 9 in under 2 hours. On the turn, one of the remaining 6 had to go to the bathroom, so after 4 of us hitting, we let the guys behind us (threesome) play through. They were ready, so no issue here, we didn't want to sandwich them in. Because they took a while to get going, all 6 remaining guys teed off to keep things going and we figured we'd get off the 10th tee. We finished up super fast and BEFORE the ladies behind us got to the tee. As we approached the 11th tee, the guy from the front desk pulls up and absolutely loses his mind on us. He threw more expletives at me than I've ever heard. The most unprofessional experience I've ever had on a golf course. He was very upset because someone called the clubhouse and said there was 6 on the green and he was upset because "do you know what it makes me look like having 6 on the green?!" He didn't politely ask us what was going on or if we could speed up, he immediately attacked us and screamed at us. It ruined our round and one of our 6 left because they were so upset at how we were treated. After this event, we finished in less than 4 hours with no issues outside of the horrible course conditions and guys blowing leaves in the middle of the fairway onto our balls. I went in after our round and asked for an apology and the man admitted he "blew his lid" and "lost his cool", but refused to apologize and blamed us for not listening to him when we checked in. It was all our fault in his mind and he was super hostile. It is wild to treat paying customers like this. We are all regular mid handicap golfers who play at courses all over the area and I've never been treated like this. In hindsight, looking at the reviews of this course and seeing how this man at the front desk treats people and especially the reviews speaking to his treatment of a young handicap child, I'm not surprised at all with our experience. I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone and I'll never go back here again. read more

I have been playing at Pickering Valley since May of 2022. This course is a lot of fun, and is in the best shape it has been, today in July of 2024. The Thompson family and their employees are welcoming, friendly and make the golf experience a lot of fun. The course challenges golfers of any ability. The greens are surprisingly challenging, and the course is forgiving also. My friends and I enjoy playing here on a regular basis. Great value and a lot of fun. Mark Lane read more

They have done a great job with making improvements to the course. Ash tree blight has required them to bring down a bunch of trees and has improved playability and course conditions immensely. read more

Beautiful scenic course, family owned, very well maintained, expansive and challenging. The pro shop grill is great for ordering a couple delicious bacon cheeseburgers at the turn. Great driving range and practice greens for chipping and putting. My favorite local course and it's only 35 minutes from Philadelphia. read more

Played here yesterday for the first time. It was great for a golfer with my skill level...very sup-par. The greens were a bit slow on the front 9, but the back 9 seemed to be much faster. I really enjoyed the elevated Tee...especially on holes 2 and 10. Very hilly, so plan to do some walking, even if you're riding. All in all, for the April price of $30 with a cart, I'll take it! read more

I recently played this course and was pleasantly surprised. The layout is unique and it's an awesome course overall. The greens were in excellent shape for this time of year. The fairways, although patchy in places, were also full and cut very nicely (see photos). What makes it most challenging / interesting are the elevation changes. It's a great feeling to tee off from the top of a hill down a significant slope... The ball just soars endlessly. With a little more attention to detail, and slightly better rates, it would get a five star rating from me. I'll play this course several times this year for sure. read more

Course is entirely hills and uneven fairways. The only time your feet are on level ground is on the tee box. Last time we played here, the one landscaper must have been following us on purpose because he was on every single hole that wasnt a par 3. read more

My new favorite local course. Nice condition for a public course fair price and good owners. The back nine is completely different from the front with almost no parallel holes on the course. It's challenging from the whites and tested me from the blues. You will need all of your clubs. Not much of a pro shop but who cares, the course is a gem and moves along most days quickly. My husband and I just played our first round with a friend at Pickering Valley, and I have to say...what a pleasant surprise! To be honest, I somewhat expected just your normal, less than impressive public course that would be in rough shape, and it turned out to be the exact opposite! Upon arrival, Pickering Valley instantly gave me that wonderful "old school" golf club feel, where the atmosphere is warm and cozy, and the people are genuinely nice. The course layout was challenging yet fair, and the fairways and greens were in really good shape. Really nice views from some of the tee boxes and greens as well. The only thing I wish they would improve upon is more fairway markers. If it weren't for our friend's GPS app on his phone, we would have struggled with yardages. The other thing that would have been helpful is if they had color coded flags indicating the pin placements on the greens. On the blind and longer approach shots, you couldn't tell if the pin was in the front or back, and with larger greens, it made things difficult. Pickering Valley was a pleasure to play, and we will definitely be back! Well priced, too! read more

The course needs help. Lots of weeds, the tee boxes are nothing but mud, greens are in poor conditions. The layout is good. It looks like they are starting to do things like repave the cart path, but they are doing it selectively. Many courses are better for the money. read more

Hard to find, harder to forget local muni with alot of challenging holes. The course is carved into a natural set of valleys so don't expect alot of flat holes. Lots of up and down holes (4 & 5) are my favorites. 4 is a pure uphill par 5 (listed at 472) that i dare anyone to try reaching in 2. Once at the top you turn around and come straight back down #5. If you can boom a nice drive, you can watch it roll, roll roll until youre just a wedge from the green...fun birdie hole. If you're not in good physical shape, DO NOT WALK as you will HAVE A CORONARY and probably DIE. No starter, no rangers so its the trust system for keeping the pace. The $49.00 weekend rate and the $40.00 weekday rate are unbelievably inexpensive for such a bucolic and challenging golf course. read more

I played this course in May and the conditions were terrible. The tee boxes were torn up, the fairway was patchy and the greens were very inconsistent. There were not distinct cuts of grass, (fairway, rough, deep rough, etc) everything just blended in together. I thought the conditions were sub par because it was early in the season and it was just beat up from the winter however I played another round today and it was just as bad. For $30 this would be a decent round of golf, however at $40 it does not compare to nearby courses with similar greens fees. For example, Loch Nairn is $45 a round and has a full service club house, separate pro shop and provides a starter. The tee boxes are clean, the greens are consistent and there are distinct cuts of grass. At just $5 cheaper Pickering Valley falls short on each of these items. read more

I played PVGC on 6/28 with approximately a 8am tee time. I think it is important to point out that my rating is based on a combination of three things 1) Cost 2) Condition of the course and 3) layout of the course. If I was basing my rating on just the layout of the course, it would easily be a 3 and I would consider giving it a 4 but the cost and the condition of the course bring down the rating. Pros - Playing the front and back nine is like playing two different courses (in a good way). The front 9 is almost completely wide-open while the back 9 gets very tight one holes 10, 11, 12, and 13. The course is not very long however the elevation changes will test your distance control. I really enjoy the par 4 7th and the par 4 16th holes. Quite a few of the tee boxes are elevated which makes you feel like you can hit like a pga tour pro because the ball just hangs in the air forever. Cons - My greens fee was $51 for the round. The doesn't sound all that bad but I can go play linfield national for the same cost and that course is in much better condition. The greens were in good condition throughout the round, however, some of the tee boxes on the back 9 were bare dirt. I have played PVGC on numerous occasions and it has always been in okay conditions so I would not say that it is an outlier. Would I visit this course again? Yes I would, however, if I am given other options, I would probably select another course. read more

PVGC recently offered a membership deal $300 for 2 years unlimited golf, you cant beat that. However it appears the club sold more memberships than they had the ability to accommodate for. It is now near impossible to schedule t-times, need to plan at least two weeks in advance. It appears there strategy for making up for overselling the membership is to be so rude to those members that they simply do not want to play the course for the full two years. They punish the members for their own mistake of overselling. Also, since so many players are now golfing for free they charge absurd prices for carts. $18 PER GOLFER to use a cart for 18 holes, thats almost $80 in cart fees per foursome, they do not allow golfers to split the price of the cart. Even with these absurd cart prices the course is in very below average condition. Tee boxes are basically dirt, weeds everywhere, greens have not been treated in years. With no effort to upkeep the course and the complete unwillingness to treat the members appropriately it is clear retention is the last thing on management mind. This course could thrive under new management, until then I definitely would not recommend. Unfortunately I am locked in for the next two years, and ill be sure to get my moneys worth. read more

The layout of this course is strange with trees in front of greens practically in the middle of the fairway on some holes and swaths of high cut rough all over the place. If you drift six inches from the narrow fairways you'll be looking for your ball for five minutes. The greens were cut up gnarly every time I've been there and the tee boxes are dirt patches. Outside of a few nice holes on the front and a couple nice elevated views this course is not worth your time. read more

This is all around an awful course. The greens are on par with your local chip and putt course. Its like putting and chipping onto shag carpeting, and no putt I or my partner hit broke true. The tee boxes were an absolute farce as well, as none of the divots were replaced and the land was actually uneven on the tee box. If there is even a groundscrew at this sham of a course, they should highly consider getting involved in another profession. ADDITIONALLY, considering how bad this course is, the prices are outlandish. I went with my coworker after work at approximately 5:45, trying to move quickly to get 18 holes in before dark, and the price was $30. Assuming this meant we would be free to try to get all 18 holes in, we hopped in a cart and motored through the front 9, only to tee off on 10 and be stopped by a worker from the clubhouse, who told us we needed to leave because the cost of gasoline to fuel the carts outweighed what we paid for our tee time. This is the biggest ripoff of a course in the state of Pennsylvania. read more

Been playing this course for years, but when it's busy it's not managed the right way. There is no golf course management, they send 2 people out when they should be grouping with 4. Backed in the middle of the course for 30 minutes on a t box on 2 consecutive holes, called the clubhouse to get the ranger out. Ranger came out who was actually the club pro. He was all hot shouting what do you want me to do, it's Father's Day weekend and we are busy and there is nowhere to go. I told him that there were groups in front of us that were pairs in 2's and needed to be regrouped to 4's and needed to move people along faster because we are at 30 minutes per hole and the pace of play needs to move quicker. The pro-ranger continues to hell saying it's busy here.! I told him he needed to calm down. The guy was practically in our face. The group behind us showed up and said theses guys have been here waiting forever and then the pro/ranger was trying to be cool with us and start small talk. Bottom line, great course for the money but not managed the right way. The club/ranger was an asshole, especially to a group that plays here all the time. I've been to way busier courses were the Rangers get people to play with a purpose to get the game moving. This pro/ranger is a complete asshole and if he wasn't 30 years older than me I could of really lost my cool by the way he was talking to us. I manage people for a living and if that guy worked for me I would fire this guy on the spot for talking to customers the way he did to us. read more
