When I got there and looked over the menu it had changed. No prime rib cap the waiter didn't even know about it. So rather than leave I had the lamb chops and they were ok. I'm a big lamb eater and these were mediocre. No bread served had to order rolls on the side. For the price it wasn't a good restaurant for me. It's a nice place and you can have a conversation.

Every single plate was hitting. The steak was cooked exactly how I asked, seasoned well, and actually had flavor all the way through. The lobster ravioli was rich but not heavy, and the salmon was flaky and done right, not dry at all. What really made it though was the service. They were attentive without hovering, kept the drinks coming, and made it feel like a special night without being extra about it. For a birthday dinner, that matters. If you're going, don't go playing small. Order what you actually want. It's one of those places where you lean into the experience and enjoy it. Solid food, great service, and a good spot for something worth celebrating.

Spicing Things Up at La Fogata Grill: A Mexican Food Adventure…read more If you're anything like me, a former chef turned travel blogger with a serious soft spot for bold flavors and authentic eats, then you know the thrill of discovering a hidden gem that delivers the real deal. That's exactly what I found at La Fogata Grill, a vibrant Mexican restaurant that's all about sizzling plates, warm hospitality, and the kind of margaritas that make you forget your to-do list. First Impressions: Color, Culture & Comfort From the moment you walk into La Fogata Grill, you're greeted with the inviting scent of sizzling fajitas, fresh cilantro, and slow-roasted meats. The colorful décor, traditional art, and festive vibe set the tone for a fun and flavorful experience. Whether you're coming for Taco Tuesday, date night, or a family dinner, the atmosphere is upbeat and welcoming. The Menu: A Tour of Mexico on a Plate Let's talk food -- because at La Fogata, the menu is a love letter to Mexican cuisine. I started with the fresh guacamole, made tableside and customized to your spice level (pro tip: ask for extra lime and jalapeño if you like a kick). The street tacos are the real deal -- I had the carnitas and barbacoa, each packed with tender meat and wrapped in warm, house-made corn tortillas. Their mole poblano is rich and deeply flavorful, a nod to authentic Mexican culinary traditions, and the chile relleno came out golden-crisp with a creamy cheese filling and perfectly spiced tomato sauce. My wife went for the enchiladas verdes, and let's just say there wasn't a crumb left on her plate. Don't Skip the Sips No trip to La Fogata Grill is complete without a drink in hand. Their margarita game is strong -- from classic lime on the rocks to frozen mango chili and even jalapeño-infused for those feeling adventurous. There's also a wide selection of tequilas and Mexican beers if you're in the mood to sample more. Save Room for Dessert If you've got a sweet tooth like me, the churros with chocolate sauce or the decadent flan will seal the deal. And yes, I ordered both -- for research purposes, of course. Final Thoughts: Worth the Trip La Fogata Grill isn't just a restaurant -- it's a destination for anyone who craves bold flavors and good vibes. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the service is always delivered with a smile. Whether you're a local or passing through, it's a stop worth making. Take the trip. Order the tacos. Live a little.

The outdoor patio has a relaxed, chill ambiance, and the drinks are well made. The service was good, and the waiter was very attentive. I sit at the bar and I'm greeted by something I've never had ever...chips served with 2 red salsas, a verde salsa and bean dip! Usually you just get chips, a small bowl and a carafe of salsa, help yourself. This set the tone that this would be different than usual. I ordered steak fajita nachos and a Modelo Negra. I powered thru the chips and bean dip like it was my job. And it didn't disappoint. Really fresh and flavorful. Nachos are nachos, right? Wrong. How they are assembled has everything to do with their mouth feel as they cool down. I've had nachos that come out looking amazing but as they cool, turn into a disappointing chuck of chips held together by shredded cheese cement. These stayed loose with crunchy bites of peppers and onions, and the cheese sauce coated instead of becoming cement-like. I always order the same thing when trying a New Mexican spot. If the nachos are good, chances are everything is good! So I'll keep the almost 5 Star steak going. I agree, some of the best Mexican food in Columbus.
