Okayyyy The Pearl definitely delivered. We started with the deviled eggs and they were a solid way to kick things off. Then came the wings. I wasn't obsessed with the blue cheese at first because I like mine a little stronger, but once I paired it with the sauce that came with the wings... chef's kiss. Together they were so good. The real star of the meal though? The jalapeño corn spoon bread with the honey butter. BABY. It was sweet, savory, buttery, and had just the right little kick. I will absolutely be ordering that every single time I come back. My friend tried both the baked oysters and the fried oysters, and she said the baked oysters were the winner because they had so much more flavor. We had brunch at The Pearl for Mother's Day and really enjoyed most of the dishes. The devils on horseback, jalapeño spoon bread, confit wings, and kimchi fried rice were all delicious. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and helpful, which we appreciated on such a busy day. The only downsides were the tater tots, which came out cold, and the hanger steak, which was unfortunately so chewy it was inedible. Everything else was great, so I'm hoping this was just an off moment in the kitchen. read more

I stopped by for another happy hour visit and tried the pub burger this time, it was yummy! The bun to bread ratio was good and the fries were crispy. Of course, I got some wings as well. The location is settled in the middle of a nice little shopping/food area so we walked around beforehand. We were seated right away and not made to feel as though our stroller and kids were a huge annoyance. In fact, they offered us a sling right away and were prepared to store the stroller also. We arrived for happy hour which was AMAZING. It was half off almost half the menu! We tried the tator tots (had to based off photos), fried pickles, fried oysters, mussels in coconut broth, gem salad (bc at this point we felt disgusting), and pub burger. Didn't realize that came with blue cheese so our 4 year old gave it a hard pass. But they do have vanilla ice cream...so that saved us. There was also no up charge to split dishes in the kitchen which we appreciated as parents who were eating with kids on our laps. Everything was good- truly nothing bad to say. I had their non alcoholic gin drink which was crisp and herbal. Mussels, fried oysters, and tots were my favorite. The kids menu was one of the best I've seen, even though we didn't order off it. A vibrant scene with friendly - though distracted and rushed service. Our appetizers were quite nice - particularly enjoyed the Alabama oysters, which were a first for me. The fish and chips were average. The skirt steak with kimchi rice sounded delicious - unfortunately, the steak was the roughest steak I've ever encountered ($51 for the dish). The rice was too vinegary and not as tasty. We eat a LOT of Korean dishes, and this missed the mark in every way. The presentation was nice but one almost chokes on the steak. Our server didn't ask whether we enjoyed our meal so there was no opportunity to convey why most of the dish was untouched. We were visiting for a couple of days and after doing a little research decided to try this spot. So glad we did! The drinks were excellent and our waiter was very attentive throughout the evening. It was pretty busy but the decor was very chic and created a great atmosphere. We ordered the oysters, a delicious salad, and fries. Everything was fantastic. Stopped here for brunch as my husband and I were on our way back to Cleveland. So glad we did! We were early enough to miss the Easter brunch crowd and were able to score a very last minute reservation via OT. The hostesses were friendly (one was also from the Greater Cleveland area!) and sat us right away. Our server was the best (I kept my digital receipt thinking it had his name on it but just realized that it doesn't...womp). Anyway, we were at a bar table, which made for good people watching. It is deceptively large too. I got to see the rest of the restaurant when using the bathroom. We ordered an espresso martini and Manhatten to start. Devils on Horseback, N'awlins Baked Oysters, and Peel and Eat shrimp as appetizers. Husband got the Great Lakes Fish and Chips and I got the Shrimp & Grits. Everything was sooooo good. Perfectly cooked and flavorful. We each got an Old Fashioned for a second round (my go-to) and that was equally delicious and made right. I ordered a pie jar for the road, which I believe was peaches and cream. Not super cute in the box but also very tasty after being on the road. Service: waiter was friendly and water was never an issue. He was pretty absent besides taking the order. I found myself waiting for quite a time for the check and beings it was empty besides about 3 other tables at 10:45 it is quite unreasonable. Ambiance/Atmosphere: inside is very nice. Dimly lit well decorated dining room. This a lovely spot for a casual, to morning brunch with a loved one or significant other. Food: Jalapeño corn bread was amazing. Soft crispy edges with chunks of jalapeño and corn that gave a fantastic texture. This corn bread I can easily say it the best I've had from any restaurant. The butter is in house whipped and topped with organic honey that adds a perfect sweetness to the rich slightly spicy corn bread. I'd highly recommend. Eggs Benedict was incredible. The sausage gravy is definitely up there on the list of the best I've had. The sausage was well seasoned and the eggs perfectly cooked. The biscuits were buttery and soft with a nice flavor. Not your traditional Benedict exchanging the hollandaise for sausage gravy, but a pleasant and surprisingly delightful change. I'd highly recommend. Pub burger was phenomenal. This is absolutely one of if not arguably the best burger I've had in Columbus. The burger patty was cooked perfect medium rare(as requested) and the cheese to top was rich and creamy. The patty was well seasoned and the bun perfectly toasted. I love sweet and savory so the jam brought along side it was gladly applied for a delicious sweet, smoky, savory bite. I have to insist on this item. Blueberry pancakes were good. Soft, fluffy, and a nice flavor. The streusels chips on top were a nice texture change between soft and crunchy. The fresh blueberries were pleasant, but they lacked internal blueberries. When you order blueberry pancakes, you want blueberry pancakes. These were more buttermilk with maybe 6 to 7 internal blueberries and 5 blueberries on top. For the size of the dish that is not nearly enough. As pancakes themselves, I'd recommend. read more

Without having reservations, we were directed to the oyster bar or the alcohol bar, each with the full menu available, and we chose the bar. We took the last two seats at the bar, but even with a couple of TVs on, it wasn't too loud. The bar stools are a bit high for short people, but we squeezed in! The bartender was friendly and helpful as we ordered the cider and stout, and gave us some menus. (Guinness was not available.) Our food was delivered quickly, hot and tasty. I think this is the most consistent food of all the Cameron Mitchell restaurants. Nothing rocks your world, but it is always reliably very good. The location is perfect for views of Bridge Park and fun people watching. IMO, the atmosphere of the restaurant has a bit of an identity crisis that takes away from the overall experience. It looks great with beautiful views and dim lighting (date night vibe), and sounds not so great with loud, random music (college bar DJ vibe). All that said, we really enjoyed Restaurant Week dining here. Deviled eggs are the best in town, entrees were fantastic, and dessert.... Desserts are their specialty for sure. Sugar pie was like pecan pie, minus the pecans and not as ultra sweet as it sounds. The PB&J dessert was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Fresh strawberries with peanut butter mousse and crunchy peanut topping. I would go back just to have that again. Ps just realized this review posted to the wrong Pearl location. We went to Dublin. My husband and I stopped by The Pearl for a date night a few weeks ago! We had a 6 PM reservation and arrived around 5:30 PM. We were told that we would have to wait for our reservation time (they were extremely busy - every seat in the restaurant was full). Also note - it is a tight fit once you are seated! We decided to sit at the bar and have some drinks while we waited. I had a margarita and my husband had an old fashioned. The ice cube in my husband's drink was pretty sweet (pic attached to this post). Once seated, we started with the garlic shrimp and oysters on the half shell. The oyster special was 3 for $15. The oysters were pretty good! The garlic shrimp stole the show though! The shrimp placed on the garlic bread and topped with the smoked tomatoes, parsley, and crispy shallots was super divine! The shrimp was cooked perfectly as well! For meals, my husband ordered the roasted chicken and I ordered the braised short rib (I kept going back and forth between this and the hanger steak as it is served with kimchi fried rice - one of my faves). My husband enjoyed his meal; however, I was not a fan of the braised short rib. The meat was overcooked (super tough) and fatty. I did enjoy the savory gravy, the horseradish mashed potatoes, and the tasty vegetables that were served with my dish though! Our server, Gary, was absolutely amazing! The Pearl is a great stop for any meal! We loved it so much we went twice for brunch. The ambiance is super fun, too- lots of old millennial faves playing in the background (like Jimmy Eat World and Fall Out Boy). The items below were our favorites: - Deviled eggs: We got these both times- they come in the most fun metal chicken setup. There are only four but they are so good and well worth it. - Fried pickles: These were light and crispy and came with a great housemade ranch. - Jalapeño corn spoon bread: Pretty much every table got this - Hanger steak: This comes in a huge portion and we really liked the kimchi fried rice- it's a more unusual accompaniment that suited the steak very well. I didn't get a picture but The Cure cocktail was the perfect fruity brunch drink and tasted just like a tropical vacation- definitely worth trying! There were a couple of things we didn't love- the roasted chicken and apple salad was pretty dry and unremarkable, and the grilled cheese was small and the arugula pesto made it very bitter. However, we really loved everything else we had. The Pearl also has fresh pies every day- we did not save room like the menu suggests but were able to take two slices home, one Snickers and one Buckeye. Both were delicious. read more

I had the clam chowder which had a good flavor but could have been alittle warmer and I did get some gritty bites which I know is possible with some seafood that's in a shell . Came here for Sunday brunch, a party of five. We didnt have reservations. However, we called and spoke to one of the managers who was able to secure us a wonderful table rather quickly. The quick review for our time at The Pearl is: it was excellent all around. The food, service, atmosphere and pricing. 5 out of 5. Really had a good time Longer review: Service was excellent. The timing of our appetizers and meals were perfect. We never had an empty glass, yet didn't feel he hovered. Serious stealth serving skills at the Pearl! Our table was amazing. It was truly comfortable- a rounded leather booth towards the back of the first dining area. We ordered a mimosa kit, bloody marys, espresso martini, and the brown bag beer which today was Hamms Beer. To snack on we ordered cornbread for the table, six oysters on the half shell, and dressed crab. You get en entire bottle of Prosecco for your mimosa and fresh squeezed Oj. Yielded four pours. They enjoyed it. Espresso martini was excellent. The bloody mary had no complaints, but orderer of that is a bartender and I think his are probably better. Our beer drinker was pleasantly surprised by the Hamm's. I think he ordered two. Appetizers were excellent. They slurped down all the oysters in no time. The cornbread was a big hit. The dressed crab looks tiny but there is a LOT in there. It is deceiving. Tip: ask for a few extra crackers. Entrees: pancakes were good but I felt could have benefited from a bit of fruit. Lots of negative space in a large oval plate. Just ugly plating... tasted fine. Chicken and waffles: chicken was excellent. We asked if they were Belgian waffles. We were told yes. They were not Belgian... just regular waffles. That was a disappointment. However the waffle was still warm and tasted fine. However one of the ordering members of our party would have chose something else had they known it was not a Belgian waffle. The omelette was good but its orderer reported it to be small. When he got home he still felt hungry and made a "snack". I think I won the "who ordered the best dish" competition wirh the harbor salad. It comes with scallops, fresh lump crab, and shrimp. I had them take off the scallops due to allergy issues and add extra crab. It was amazing and its now six hours later and I am still full. I highly recommend that (and the beet salad as that is my normal go to there) The key lime pie was good... not great. I would not get it again. The bill comes in a book. Cute. Our bill with tip came to just shy of 300 The only con I found: Stopped in the bathroom before leaving. The soap and hand towels are weirdly located directly above the toilet paper. Thats kind of disgusting. Dripping wet hands hover the toilet paper making it wet. I noticed they have wrapped spare toilet paper so I unwrapped a fresh one as the one on the roller was soggy. Bad design. That seriously is the only flaw I found at this restaurant. Could be solved by moving or getting a toilet paper cover. . The bill was brought out in a book which was fitting as the entire space feels like a large library or mansion den in a historic mansion. read more

Tonight, upon recommendation, I dined at The Pearl. The location is pleasant (between the Victorian and Italian Villages in what's known as 'Short North'), easy to find, safe, and well kept. The restaurant itself could be described in similar fashion: clean, comfortable, and reasonable. My waiter (Charlie) was good. He knew the menu and recommended a few dishes with good reasoning and obvious relish. I asked for information on two of their fish options and (after being told the salmon was 'meh') went with the Red Fish. The description is as follows: "Panko Crusted, Baby Carrots, Parsnip Purée, Cilantro Chimichurri". Given that description I was not so pleasantly surprised to find the overwhelming taste notes were entirely vinegar. I could not taste the fish, at all. While beautifully presented I would have preferred a more dynamically flavorful dish; not one where the sharp acid masks the delicate taste of the fish and creates an unbalanced and harsh meal. Maybe this is my own fault for not going with his original recommendation of the Hanger Steak. As far as atmosphere, I found the restaurant to be quite noisy. I was seated in the far back (near the restrooms) so maybe this also impacted my overall experience. read more

This place is very busy and tables are crammed. It did allow many people to get seats however. It did take a while to get drinks, but after the waiter was acquainted, service was not delayed. The bacon beautiful bourbon was interesting but not overwhelming bourbon flavor. The bacon was an interesting touch. (This was per my partner as I didn't try it). We did have oysters and they have a variety of locations they are from which allow you to choose where you want them sourced from. They were nice. Good flavor and tasted fresh. I had the walleye special which was lovely, great flavor, well cooked. The tater tots were amazing. A must try, they are not traditional tater tots, and more flavorful and a better texture. The oysters tasted very fresh and the cornbread was warm and deliciously comforting. Our entrees were what we thought were the let down. The chicken sandwich was on the burnt side, and tasted overly salted. The Gulf Snapper was probably the better of the two, but it was overpowered by lemon. I was excited for the pistachio pesto, but I hardly could pick up on the pistachio flavor. The service was as expected, nothing that blew me away but also, no negative experiences.
