My take on the restaurant Brussels Sprouts: 10/10 - as good as it gets! I couldn't imagine better brussels sprouts it was crispy but also soft in the center so you didn't have to fight your way through eating them even good restaurants. I have good flavor and good sauce for brussels sprouts aren't as soft as these ones. This was great. Lamb chops: 6.5/10 - very sweet small lamb chops! Cooked well and had good flavor I just wasn't personally blown away. The Clover Club: 9/10 - knew exactly what I wanted. Had Monkey 47 which is the BEST gin for this drink. Wasn't the best one I've had but pretty close for it not being on the menu. Filet: 7/10 - a little Gamey but it was cooked well as it should be. Didnt have anything unique about it just was don't like a filet should be done. The carrot was cooked to perfection which brought her review up. The fried potato was also amazing best part of the whole dish, especially with whatever spread they put on it. The fillet was not the highlight the carrot and the potato were. Sea Bass: 1/10 - genuinely did not taste good very gamey very fishy took two bites didn't eat it. The soup it came in was a little sour not a good flavor would not recommend. Hamachi Crudo: 3/10 - we are sushi snobs so take this with a grain of salt. It could totally be something that you love, but I hate when somebody brings out a piece of Nigiri or sashimi and it's warm. This dish has potential the flavors around it were very fresh but the hamachi was room temperature when it should be ice cold and the flavors felt like an after thought. Menu: 4/10 - nothing to write home about when it comes to the options. A very corporate get what you expect type restaurant. They aren't doing anything revolutionary here Atmosphere: 7/10 - definitely a nice spot. It's very clean bathrooms are intimate and also very clean again. Nothing revolutionary here the demographic when we went was very old and corporate. Price: 5/10 - $340 plus idk... I feel like this was worth $180-$220 personally for the price I never complain about price anywhere I go out to eat, especially fine dining, but this place was overcharging for what they're actually giving for sure. Overall: 6.5/10 - I would recommend this place to someone who doesn't really care about Food that much and is wowed by like an STK or a more chain like "fancy restaurant" I was hoping to get more of a small boutique very intentional experience at this restaurant just based on the outside by the field, but it definitely feels like they've cut a few corners when it comes to building a really unique food experience I would love to come back and give it another try because maybe I just came at an off time. I came here with a couple friends and we loved it. My friends don't like to venture downtown much but they loved it here and they shocked me when they said they would love to come back here. So that is very impressive to me. The place itself is very clean and the decoration is beautiful, it's a great addition to the short north. Our server was lovely, she knew everything about the menu and was able to answer multiple questions surrounding the menu that we had. She was very sweet. The food was lovely, I got the sea bass croquettes and carrot cake for dessert. Neither of them disappointed. Fantastic dining experience. In town for work and the Guild House was a recommendation. We didn't have a reservation but we were sat right away. Our waitress was fantastic. She was very helpful and willing to answer all our questions. She was extremely attentive to our table and ensured that we got our orders and anything else we needed. We shared a couple of appetizers which were delicious. My dinner was fantastic. Great seafood with a great presentation. Overall great meal and great time at guild house. I've been here several times, and this was probably my favorite time here! The food was excellent- we shared the dumplings (must get, absolutely divine), the Brussels sprouts, and the burrata toast (probably my least favorite of the 3 but still good) as starters. I got the Cavatelli with duck confit for my main course - this was lovely. My personal preference would be with fewer tomatoes, but if you're a fan of tomatoes, this dish is wonderful. The sauce was deliciously creamy and the quality of the duck was fantastic. Dessert was the miss for me. I ordered the cherry chocolate Sunday. The ice cream was supposedly dark chocolate, but it still seemed like milk chocolate to me. The cherry flavor was nice, but I found myself wishing I had gotten the carrot or poppy cake (as others at my table did). The Guild House is a great option where you can make reservations and choose from a mix of expected standards and creative combos. My latke with salmon was the latter that did not disappoint. I ordered the steak, my boyfriend got the lobster ravioli, and we added salmon to the mix because why not go all in on a birthday dinner. Every single plate was hitting. The steak was cooked exactly how I asked, seasoned well, and actually had flavor all the way through. The lobster ravioli was rich but not heavy, and the salmon was flaky and done right, not dry at all. What really made it though was the service. They were attentive without hovering, kept the drinks coming, and made it feel like a special night without being extra about it. For a birthday dinner, that matters. Our family of six had dinner on Thanksgiving. The place was packed but we were seated at our reservation time. We had to finagle a bit to get Dad with his walker settled, but the staff was patient and kind with him. Our server Bobbie was fantastic! She was funny, endearing, and attentive for how busy she was. The volume of the room was energetic, but I could still hear conversations at the end of the table. It is SO nice that they offer a Prix Fixe Thanksgiving menu as well as the regular menu. My elderly father had Thanksgiving dinner and enjoyed it very much. The rest of us ordered off the menu. I read that there is usually a heavy hand with the salt, but our experience was all over the place with seasoning. Here are our thoughts: Hamachi Crudo - pretty, but not the best we have had. More flavor? Steak Tartare - fresh but a little on the acidic side. Served with plain toast points that we would have better if buttered and grilled. Beet Salad - very fresh with golden beets, crunchy quinoa, and a farm cheese cream base. I enjoyed it but this dish could have used more salt. Shagbark Grits - we wanted to just love this, but it needed salt as well. Oyster mushrooms - great batter and sauces, mushrooms cooked perfectly, but this dish was oversalted. Cavatelli - the flavor with the duck and sauce was delicious, but the broth was a salt bomb. Pork - perfectly cooked and seasoned. The cabbage was lovely. I would order this again. Pork Cheeks - this was our favorite dish of the night. Seasoned perfectly. The cheeks were so tender, and it was fun to eat with the spaghetti squash. It's a generous serving for an appetizer and I ordered it as a main. Sea Bass - perfectly cooked and wonderful. I only had one bite, but my sister loved it. Haven't been able to stop thinking about this experience ever since I dined here. Upon walking in, i knew I was in for a treat. The restaurant was beautiful and felt refined without feeling stuffy. I sat at the bar and was greeted by two of the kindness, and helpful bartenders that talked me through the menu and suggestions. I started with the tartare which was absolutely delightful and could eat it every day. For my entree I went for the scallop dish that was beautifully presented and had a light but very balanced flavor. The broccolini I ordered as a side offered an excellent contrast of texture and flavor to the scallops and I highly recommend both dishes! Overall excellent experience! Excellent dinner at the Guild! It was our daughter's birthday and she chose the restaurant. Our party of four arrived a few minutes early, so had a drink at the attached hotel bar in some giant comfy chairs while we waited. A few sips of our drinks and our table was ready! We started with the Brussels sprouts appetizer and sweet potato rolls. The rolls were outstanding! I'd probably skip the Brussels next time. Then the mains: salmon (excellent), halibut (lovely), filet (delicious and deliciously salty and came with a mind blowingly good potato gratin) and the market wagyu beef (excellent, small appetizer size). Sides: hassle back potatoes, fries, broccolini and carrots. All so good! We weren't going to have dessert, but our amazing waitress described the carrot cake and the poppy cake and we were hooked. My wife and I came for dinner on a Saturday night. I was pleased to find there was a reservation available on the day of at a convenient time (so always check, don't assume there wont be one!) My wife explained to our server that we had show tickets, so we only had about an hour. Our server was more than accommodating and so kind about it. We were sat in the bar area, which feels just as nice as the rest of the restaurant. Maybe the only better spot would've been by the front window, but for a last minute reservation, I'm not complaining! Everything was very clean and the place felt inviting. The menu had a few options for me as a vegetarian, but not a whole lot. We did order the brussell sprouts as our appetizer. We also wanted to try the sweet potato rolls, but were told they either have pork or are cooked with pork? So we skipped. My wife had the agnolotti (lobster pasta) and I had the vegetarian ricotta gnocchi. My portion did not look very big, but I was surprised at how filling it was! My wife enjoyed hers as well. This is an absolute gem of an upscale venue bordering on fine dining. Beautiful space greets on entry, with a lively bar scene set off to the right and an inviting, open area dining room with fireplace and elegant design. The dishes were thoughtfully designed with lots of different ingredients and corresponding flavors in every dish we tried. Standouts included Wagyu with confit potatoes, Camembert cheese and purple mustard vinaigrette; agnolotti with butter lobster, toasted garlic, tomato broth, basil, and lemon crème fraiche; and the sea bass in lobster broth with carrots, leeks, radish and chile oil (highly recommend that last one!). Cocktails on point and great selection of wines. Service was attentive, extremely knowledgeable, well trained, and pleasant. Great conversations not just on their menu but the larger Columbus food scene including farms of note and eateries of all different types. We stayed at the St Joseph so was also very convenient if you're staying there. Great experience! Will be back! read more

They were attentive to us. They were prompt with our drinks and made sure to get us taken care of. Now for starters, we decided to go through and order a few appetizers to share with the table. The sweet potato rolls stick out to us and sounded delicious. We got them, tasted them, and kept tasting them because we felt like maybe we'd eventually taste the sweet potato. It literally tasted like a potato roll with butter. Very disappointing. I won't go into more detail because it is what it is. We ordered various entrees and they all fell flat. The food, however, was a bit spotty. - sweet potato rolls - 4/5, I thought the carraway seeds on top were not the right flavor combination with sweet potato rolls with butter, I would have enjoyed them more without the seeds - dumplings - 3/5, my dinner companions wanted to order these but I typically stay away from ordering chinese dumplings when not at a Chinese restaurant. Somewhat tasteless - lamb chop appetizer - 3/5, lamb chops were okay, came with four pieces but they were very spare with the meat and not very flavorful, the bed of fried rice they came on was also okay but again, why would I have ordered asian fried rice at a non-asian restaurant? - broccolini with chili crisp - 2/5, these were so incredibly salty they were almost inedible, and at least one stalk was so tough that it was not chewable - halibut - I did not taste this but my dinner mate said it was done to perfection but a little salty - gnocchi with added scallops - I did not taste this but my dinner mate said it was very salty (there's a theme here!) The desserts saved the meal a bit but we all agreed the main description of each dessert was misleading: - caramelized banana - 5/5, outstanding dessert but really this is a layered version of a banana cream pie as a cake with a quarter slice of a caramelized banana on the side. Delicious! - carrot cake - 4/5, this was yummy but really no noticeable carrot in the cake (or pineapple or nuts or coconut which often comes in a carrot cake). We'd call this a spice cake and skip the carrot anglaise which was really just weird. We debated for a while what the orange not-frosting-like substance was. - poppy cake - 3/5, this was just okay - a strange layered combination of flavors and unclear where the poppy cake came in at all. Call this a blackberry mousse layered cake, not a poppy cake. We debated fora while whether the bottom layer was the poppy cake and one person insisted it was a layer of pistachio. But then where was the poppy cake? I stumbled upon The Guild House yesterday with a friend from out of state. I had heard great things but never had the chance to try it. We sat at the bar and got lucky because it was Happy Hour! We ordered some apps and drinks, and everything was fantastic (the wagyu and Brussels sprouts were the absolute highlights, but the poblano pepper and corn rolls also got an honorable mention). The decor is sleek and beautiful. The bar staff who took care of us were simply perfect. When it was time to pay and head to the next spot, the bartender brought us the bill--and it was $64... FOR EVERYTHING! Four apps, two Long Islands, and a mocktail. We were totally shocked; we ate like kings, and thanks to Happy Hour, it didn't break the bank. One of our usual spots is The Pearl, but we can never leave there for less than $200. The Guild House is definitely a new favorite, and we will absolutely be back... SOON! read more

Another Cameron Mitchell restaurant review! We opted for the Guild House because it was one of the only CM restaurants in Short North that we had yet to try. The menu has an emphasis on seafood, and lots of the ingredients are sourced locally with farms near Columbus. We had a reservation and were seated promptly when we arrived. Our server was awesome (I think her name was Jillian?) and she helped us navigate the menu and her gave recommendations for each section. We got espresso martinis and they were excellent. Theirs are made without cream liquor, which is how I like them. For entrees, I got the salmon and my wife got the agnolotti (think lobster ravioli). We also got a side of hasselback potatoes to share. My salmon was fresh and tasty, but could have used just a little more seasoning or perhaps a sauce on top to blend everything together. I went there after I read the yelp reviews. I'm from out of town. I was so ready for the prime rib cap everyone was talking about. When I got there and looked over the menu it had changed. No prime rib cap the waiter didn't even know about it. So rather than leave I had the lamb chops and they were ok. I'm a big lamb eater and these were mediocre. No bread served had to order rolls on the side. For the price it wasn't a good restaurant for me. It's a nice place and you can have a conversation. read more
