I called back several times and she didn't answer and when she finally did, I let her know we had a party of 15 for next Saturday night and she hung up on me again! Definitely one of the worst Mexican restaurants I've ever experienced. We had lunch there with some friends from Massachusetts that we haven't seen in a long time. We picked it because it was about the halfway point from where they were coming from to where they were going. I had the Speedy Gonzalez lunch special. The meal consisted of some refried beans, a taco and an enchilada. My choices for the protein were either chicken or ground beef. I chose ground beef. When it arrived, it was cold. Saying that the food was bland would be charitable. My wife ordered a taco salad. It too was unremarkable, and that's an understatement. Disappointing. Positive is the server was nice and service was good which is why I gave this two stars. Food alone would have been 1 star. The chicken tacos were so watery. They were sitting in a true puddle of water and were so soggy, my daughter refused to eat them. The queso was also extremely watery. Arrived late into town and needed a place to eat. So lucky we found La Fogata. We were the only table, while a half dozen peeps were at the bar. We had a delicious dinner here while staying at the Hampton Inn next door. We started with margaritas that were very tasting--no skimping on the tequila here! For our first course, we shared an order of shrimp ceviche. It was excellent. It was different from most ceviche in that the sauce contained lots of fresh tomatoes. For our main course, we shared an order of the fried chicken breasts. It was good & came with a huge amount of fresh salad that I had for lunch the next day, We also had the fried ice cream for dessert. La Fogata is next door to the hotel I was staying at. The front desk said that previous guests really liked it so I decided to give it a try. What a 'find'. I asked my server, Jose, what he would order if he was eating. He quickly said the Carnitas dinner. It was a large dish, delicious, and exactly what I needed after an all day motorcycle ride. The pork dish puts many BBQ places to shame. The restaurant has great decor and it is clearly a popular restaurant with the locals. After 20 years of existence I guess they're doing it right. I live in Lake County Ohio where we have a plethora of Mexican restaurants to pick from. From the one dish I tried I would put them right up there with the best of our best. After one chip from the bowl gone, I am in love! The flavor is too complex to describe other than to say it tastes heavenly!!! This is one of our go-to places here in Pickerington for some really good Mexican food and margs. The food is always consistent and presented nicely every single time. The bartenders are funny and they always have great suggestions for food and drinks. We normally get a plate of their make your own tacos, tons of options, and we can split it. The food portions are huge and the free chips and salsa really round out the experience. The salsa is sometimes hit or miss - you're either going to get a nice well rounded salsa or something that is going to melt your face. My server made sure my water stayed filled and was quick to get me another beverage when needed. I had even asked for some substitutions with my dinner. The chips were warm and fresh, the salsa was nice with a nice bit of heat to get your tastebuds going. For the entree I ordered the Polo Loco. This was two flattened chicken breasts, grilled and served with chorizo and cheese on top. Sides of rice and guacamole salad. The chicken was tender and had good flavor, the chorizo had a good spice to it, but was pretty greasy. The rice was standard, nothing special, nor was the salad exceptional. Stopped through on our way back east. Kids wanted something different, but im glad this was our destination. We were quickly greeted and sat with drinks and chips. We visited La Fogota on Sunday, November 1st. It was mid-afternoon when we arrived and were seated on the right side of the restaurant. There was a large party in the middle of the room. We sat for over seven minutes with no greeting. Instead of leaving, we took our menus and utensils up to the bar. We were immediately recognized and had our iced teas dropped right off. After ordering our food it was prepared quickly and we enjoyed it. The Pollo Loco was good though I prefer mushrooms on mine. The large burrito was like a fajita in a tortilla. It was delicious! I used to dine with regularity at the La Fogata Grill in the Short North before they moved so I was pleased when my friend decided to have his birthday dinner at their location in Pickerington. I don't go to Pickerington a lot but for this La Fogata, I'd return with bells on! We had a larger group so we made a reservation and were seated right away at 7pm on a Saturday. It was fairly busy but that didn't stop the service from being friendly and prompt. As soon as we were seated, someone was taking our drink orders. I had a strawberry margarita the size of my head and it was refreshing and delicious. The menu is almost overwhelming because they have so many options. That being said, my choices are limited because of my Low Fodmap diet so I opted for the steak fajita salad and it was seriously one of the best salads I have ever had. The pieces of steak were a lot larger than I expected and they were perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. The vegetables that came with it were fresh and a tasty combination. Everyone kept commenting on how good my salad looked and they didn't know the half of it! It was the perfect portion and was just absolutely everything I could have wanted from a steak salad. Everyone in my group had such a positive experience. When we told them it was our friend's birthday, they brought him out a dessert and a sombrero and they sang to him and smashed some whipped cream in his face. Really large, clean restaurant that appears to be a former steakhouse. We were seated promptly but took a while to get waited on. Food was excellent, really good all around. Contrary to some other reviewers opinion on the salsa I found it wasn't too runny, in fact ours was quite good and had some nice chunkiness. Entrees were fantastic (see pics) but service was definitely lacking. We waited so long after our entrees were dropped off I nearly went to get someone. I'd highly recommend this place for the food but keep in mind the service is slow and I would not recommend you come here if you're on a one hour lunch break as you will go back to work late. read more

Really solid spot for Mexican food. It would be nice to enjoy this place during normal circumstances. It's Cinco De Maya and I'm craving some Carne' Asada. All orders come with chips and salsa.
