Came here for a date night and omg it was so fun. Totally hidden and such an interesting and unexpected place to put courts but it works perfect! Very spacious inside and well maintained. Huge fans going but still gets hot so dress light. It's nice they accommodate for later evening court reservations. We basically had the place to ourselves at 8 pm. Fit 3 games in during the one hour time slot. Gets super competitive lol. Glad to have very accessible courts nearby! We needed something like this in north county. Facility excellent ! Jose as a coach leaves a lot to be desired. Only good for novice beginner players at best.

Came here to take some lessons and was happy that they offered them for $20. However, you get what you paid for. I think this place used to be a department store so it one big open area with a bunch of courts. I have several concerns to mention. First, the kid at the desk kept giving me the wrong info on how to sign up for a class. He said that I didn't have to prepay but their website won't let you sign up without payment. I couldn't hear the instructor during my lesson . They need to use some type of microphone. Stray balls make it into your play area as there are no walls between the courts. There were small 3 foot nets but the balls still made it over. Lastly, and the most disappointing is that the bathroom was disgusting. I think 3 out of the 6 stalls were functioning. There were paper towels and toilet paper all over the floor, the trash cans were overflowing, the countertops were a wet mess and part of the ceiling was caved in. Super ghetto. They should be embarrassed to have a bathroom like that. Cleanliness and orderliness are more important to me than cost so I will probably look for another place to play. read more

I came here for weekday open play with my husband along with my in-laws that were in town for the weekend. Let me preface this review by saying we had never been to this pickleball club before and I have to say that it was one of the worst experiences we've had with trying somewhere new. We had people, one person in particular, who would continuously interrupt our game to tell us we weren't doing things right, such as calling out our score (we were calling out the score, she just couldn't hear it over everyone else yelling) and it felt super cliquey and not a welcoming environment at all for newbies. We were there to have fun and weren't trying to be competitive at all. If you are a novice pickleball player and don't take the game as seriously as everyone else, I'd suggest you try somewhere else. read more

Personally I think this is a super cool use of an old warehouse! With that being said, my review is solely based on the Live Ball Plus Class (lower intermediate level) that I took for the very first time. OMG...WOW!!! This class was fast paced and the best 90 minute workout, in my humble opinion. Do make sure to hydrate because you will definitely work up a sweat! Met Cooper who started off the class and did a wonderful job explaining the jist of it to those of us who have never taken Live Ball before, such a cool dude! It took me just a short while to observe how it's done, and then it was on! There were many awesome rallies and perfect shots placed, but most of all, such a fun class! One thing I really enjoy about pickball, is the great people you meet that share the same enthusiasm for playing the game. Looking forward to taking more classes here again in the near future! My family reserved court #2 for two hours this past weekend. The online sign up process was very easy. When you arrive, everyone needs to create an account and then complete a quick consent form. Once that's approved, you can play. They have paddles and balls to use but you can also bring your own! It was perfect for some casual pickleball and it was cold outside so the temperature inside was good but I can imagine it can get pretty hot during the warmer days of summer. My only qualm was that there were some pillars between the courts that actually did get in the way of the game a couple times. But otherwise, a great spot especially when you didn't bring all your equipment with you while you were on vacation (the case of my family!) read more

I started my pickleball journey at Pickleball Club of Carlsbad about a year ago. I started with an intro lesson with John. Crime there I started in the ladies league Saturday mornings. I wanted to improve my game so came to the open play and then started some sessions with Playing with Adam and the pickleball machine with Joe. All of these things have helped me improve tremendously. I appreciate the feedback I get and helping me to hone my skills. I want to continue to learn and this place has helped me do that. I know not all like indoors but I really enjoy the people here and the new friendships I have made. I had never heard of pickleball until a few months ago, but have since found out that a lot of friends from different circles play it. As a former high school tennis and badminton player, it sounded like something I'd enjoy. One friend was just getting into it and suggested Pickleball Club for an intro lesson. They also have Groupons available, but the cost is about the same as their website unless you're looking for a private lesson. We had a group lesson with John, and he was able to explain the basics and have us play part of a game within the hour lesson, so it's definitely something easy to pick up for fun. They have six indoor courts. Paddles and balls are included with your classes or court reservation. Just show up and have fun! read more

You need to create an account online prior to going to the place, it is verified and once that happens you can make reservations and book court times. As an avid player of most racket sports starting with racquet ball, tennis, table tennis and my favorite squash. I was recently introduced to Pickleball by my youngest son. It's as fun as i expected. The crew at PBC are genuinely friendly and eager to help. I'm looking forward to seeing myself improve and beating my son before the spring :) This is an easy go to and indoors makes it an all year long sport. Booking a class is easy and typically available if done within a few days ahead. Doubles is the typical play here and there seems to always be someone available to fill a spot. I got into pickleball earlier this year thanks to my sister and brother-in-law, it's a happy medium between ping pong and tennis. So much fun and great exercise. Earlier this week, I came to check out Pickleball Club of Carlsbad - there are 6 courts that are indoors and it's so easy to reserve a court. Just register on their website and then you can see the schedule for the day for all six courts. It's just $5 for an hour and they have pickleball rackets and balls there that you can use, or bring your own racket. On the website, it looks like they have times where there are some coaches that can work with you whether you are a beginner or intermediate. There's also a power hour of free play. It's a great place to come with friends to try a new sport and get moving around. I'll definitely be back for more pickleball in the future! read more

It's my first time here and I absolutely loved it. I came here with a group and the games were well organized. When you start, you take a picture of a QR code on the wall, the front desk person will approve you immediately and bam, your waiver is done. My group had shared paddles, so I'm not sure if they're just lying around for communal usage or if you had to rent them if you don't have one. I've enjoyed the 5 ball games too where the pros help you by showing you what you did wrong to help Improve your game. No AC inside but big fans to cool you off. It was unclear to me where the entrance was, I did see a door, but that maybe it was the back door? I walked inside the mall and quickly walked out since there unfortunately was not an entrance there. Adam was nice and helpful when checking us in. I was able to borrow a paddle which was nice! I have only played pickle ball on outdoor courts and was surprised by how many balls were rolling around on the court. I was nervous I would slip on one! I also almost ran into a metal beam too, luckily they have some kind of padding around them! Also, it was really warm inside! If I return, I will be sure to go early in the morning! read more

The Pickleball Club of Carlsbad is such an inclusive place to not only play Pickleball, but to learn the sport as well. I have played on a number of courts in the area but haven't found a spot with so many different programs for all levels of play. If you are a beginner or novice player stay far away from PICKLEBALL LIFE in Carlsbad. They charge $15 per person for two hours play. Badly run business. Courts are very hot and owners don't care about the customer experience. They will run a 20 person drill on the court next to you with constant balls and people running on to your court. This happened to me and my wife a few months ago and I stopped going. My wife went back today and the same thing happened to her again. read more

If the facility has the last available court in the county, I'd recommend not playing. I've been to this place several times and each visit was loud, has limited side play, low ceilings preventing most lobs, and the ladies room has been taped closed like a crime scene for months. I never thought playing there could get worse, I was wrong. I'm not new to the game so I know the difference between great courts and of course great facilities (people and players). To ALL Beginners, try a different facility and you'll be able to enjoy the game more. I booked a court well in advance however while playing, instructor Adam, walked onto our court and told the four of us to expect a lot of balls. Adam needed to use the middle court, adjacent to us, so the players showing up could play a speed game and run around the posts. Yes, you are reading that correctly! These 10 or so people would run around the large center posts, onto one side of our court while they ran back to their starting side. Their speed game also prevented them from blocking the constant balls rolling onto our court. We asked Adam to move to the end court or have someone stay on the side to prevent balls, but Adam said they couldn't because it would block people from racing back and the end court was too close to the wall. It's hard to imagine a business treating their paying customers so poorly. Nobody should have to book, pay and sacrifice their fun for coach Alex or the business. No apology offered. No refund offered. No solution offered. We won't be back. read more

It was stuffy, humid kind of stuffy. Definitely needs some air flow in the place--some fresh air please. I understand the owner may have done the best they could with limited room, but it's not fun when balls are coming from all directions and the room around the sides of the courts is limited. Also, it would be nice if sound reducing foam eventually gets installed on some of the walls to reduce the noise, it was so loud our opponents could not hear me yell the score, so we gave hand signals. Recommendation: Instead of winners staying on continuously, allow winner to stay on for 2 or 3 games then come off. The problem I witnessed: A couple that were a little better than others in the designated play-level area continued to win every game and never had to sit out. I was asked by others to go on court and win so that there would be more court rotation, (my first time at the place and didn't know anyone). Terri was very nice and helpfull! read more

I'll preface this review by saying everyone is so nice at the Pickleball Club, including the pros Adam and John. But the acoustics in there are very distracting and personally I have issue with all the balls all over the floor. It makes for a potential accident. But with all this rain it is an option for playing and they are adding hours and new events constantly. read more

This pickleball club has everything picklers at any level would need: private lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments, open play, a great location, easy website to use, all-weather convenience. Staff and fellow players are so nice and while everyone wants to win, the spirit is not as competitive as other courts; everyone just wants to help each other get better and have fun.
