Husband and I came here to look for some Padres clothing wear. Being a sporting good store they of course had a good Pardres clothing section. Cute beanies! The area looked picked over, a bit of disarray. But staff on the floor were busy and I must say very friendly. The young floor staff were quick to check on you if you needed anything or had questions. When we asked a question, they were quick to answer with enthusiasm. For the most part the store is clean and organized. I still find some of the merchandise to be on the upper end if you were to do comparison shopping. But, it looked like they had some good deals. We made it to the counter with our purchase with the employees checking you out, the goal being to move the line along. I don't think that would hinder us from returning. read more

I want this... I want this... And I want this... Oh, and this too, please... Yes, since I'm an Exercise Physiologist, I can spent WAY too much time and money here! So I came to their Dick's Sporting Goods location to buy some new dumbbells. A former "friend" borrowed my set of 30 lb ones and never returned them. I walked in and was greeted by the checkout staff. This location is HUGE and stocked with premium brands and sporting equipment! I asked one of the floor staff where the dumbbells are and she directed me to them. They seriously have a brilliant selection of strength training équipement but, alas, they were out of stock of their 30 lb dumbbells! Then the awesome Manager On Duty came up and I asked him if he had any more inventory in their stock room. With a flip on his electronic pad he checked and said yes! I ran up to the front to get a shopping basket (I may be strong but I wasn't in the mood to be a carrying 60 lbs of wights around with me after just eating Crack Shack) and by the time I returned the Manager had a palate of new dumbbells out and had staff members unpacking them . Yay! Check out was a breeze and ALL of the staff here were super friendly and professional! Needless to say this will now be my new, go-to Sporting Goods store! read more

Then we brought the rod that we wanted to buy to the sales counter and they could not find it in the system. So I bought 3 exercise DSG shirts this week from Dicks in Encinitas. I washed one to see how they would hold up. Washed according to directions on the label - cold water wash and delicate drying. Unfortunately, the trial shirt shrunk to much to fit me. I took the 3 shirts back to Dick's, two still had the tags on them. They returned the two with tags, but the manager told me that since no one else had complained about product shrinkage, they would not take back the one I washed. Moral of the experience- DO NOT BUY DSG SHIRTS. They shrink and the company will not stand behind their product. read more

I received an email from Dick's Sporting Goods marketing, noting that if your kids are in FNL, you can get their gear at Dick's with a discount. So, needing a pair of football cleats for my kids, we travel to Dick's. They had one pair of cleats and no sizes available. Feeling a loss here, my daughter needed sweat pants, the thin material kind; nope! The last few times I have come to Dick's, they just don't seem to carry the equipment that we need. To not have football cleats in stock when they advertise to come to their store for that very purpose, and when there are thousands of kids in the local FNL program (there were three that day looking for cleats) that is year round, is a management/leadership issue. They are not connected to the local community activities. Oh, but if you need Crocs, there are more pairs than one can imagine (see pic). Makes no sense. read more

I bought a Callaway Paradyme Driver on 9/22/24 at the Mission Viejo Dicks store. It wasn't a goof fit and decided to return and exchange for a Paradyme X driver. One was available at the Encinitas store. The X driver at Encinitas had been a demo - no plastic seal and a few face ballmarks. But it was the only one available. I told the "golf specialist" I wanted to exchange my club for the X driver under the 90 day play and return policy. It got ugly then. He said "this club has been used." Yes, but that is how the 90 day play policy works. He said, no, it must be sealed and in the original condition. I reviewed the Golf Galaxy online 90 day policy and confirmed the policy when I called Golf Galaxy direct. New purchases in normal wear and tear condition can be exchanged for like clubs. The retail rep at the Encinitas store - Gabriel, was one unhappy camper. He continued to berate me with his expertise in the 90 day play return policy - which was wrong. He left to see the "manager" and came back telling me the manager agreed with his understanding of the policy. I told him no, that is unacceptable and that the golf specialist at the MV store confirmed that the club may be returned for a like exchange. I explained that I typically buy equipment at Roger Dunn and I suppose Golf Galaxy copied RD's policy to be competitive. Gabriel's response - well, why didn't you go there." Unbelievable. I replied, RD didn't have this club in stock. I said, Dick's has one corporate policy on the 90 day return for new purchases. Gabriel then said, "I wasn't trained by corporate and the MV staff is wrong." He actually doubled-down on his "superior" knowledge. After a considerable exchange, he finally said his manager would approve the exchange and he was "doing me a favor." When I got home I called GG to confirm their return policy and share my experience with Gabriel. The GG rep was nice and apologetic for the Encinitas rep. He said he would inform management about my experience. Today, I had a lesson with my golf pro and the numbers were better with the X vs. the Mavirk I was using. I am a 10 index and shoot between 80-82 at my regulation home course in OC. I don't expect Dick's reps to be knowledgeable like a Roger Dunn's rep, but they shouldn't be jerks. I can't recall such a nasty experience with a retail rep that I had today. I would stick with Roger Dunn's for golf club buys. This experience was too unpleasant - the staff at RD's check your receipt, hold you club and when you swap it out there are no nasty exchanges. Just a real professional experience. I rarely return clubs. I bought three AI Smoke Hybrids this past summer at RDs. Over $900 buy. They work perfect. But if they did't work out, I was confident I could return to RD and receive a full credit for another purchase. Good luck if you choose to buy your next clubs at Dick's. read more

We spent nearly one hour in Dick's Sporting Goods today. We came in looking for a clothing line that we had seen online, VRST. When we finally flagged down one of the sales associates, she spent as little time as possible with us letting us know that whatever prices were online were not what they have in the store. We showed her the joggers and merchandise on the DSG site and asked if they price matched or honored what they advertise online. She promptly told my husband and I, "that's a new product line and we would not be discounting them so early in the store." I took it one step further and asked her again if they would honor the online price in order to make a sale, she said no. The thing that surprised me the most was the fact that if she didn't want to answer the question, she could've easily directed us to the manager on duty but she was not interested in making a sale. What's the moral of this story? Dicks Sporting Goods is looking to drive your path to purchase through their website versus their store. I wonder if she realizes that continuing to have that kind of attitude could likely land her without a job due to store closures. #dickssportinggoods I would welcome a response from Dick's Sporting Goods corporate. read more

I was contacted from the store manager about my experience. She showed a ton of empathy and I appreciated the follow up. I also complained on the bottom of the receipt requesting feedback so it possibly trickled down from corporate. Anyhow I got a phone call and just to know my voice was heard and an apology was received was enough. They asked us to come back for a little care package because they wanted to show how much they support young athletes. My second experience was much better although I still noticed the associate on the register. I brought up some negative emotions thinking maybe he might not be the best fit for the front end. 5 Stars for Gatlin for helping me out with my return AND purchase. Had to exchange my brother-in-laws Patagonia sweatshirt that I got him for xmas and Gatlin helped me get all squared away with that. Once I was all checked out, went to the cooler section to seek out what I should've gotten my brother all along. Our family are big fans of Yeti coolers, we personally have many different sizes so I pretty much knew what I wanted. Of course, the item that I wanted was on the top shelf so had to seek assistance. Another worker said he'd send someone over....and there came Gatlin, again! There were lots of other people roaming the store but he was working the cashier desk and got called out to help customers too. One man show, apparently. = ) Even though I was 99% sure of my purchase, I wanted his opinion on the Roadies and he essentially validated my thoughts on that line so stuck with the soft cooler that I knew my bro would use for work and for short day trips. Was really grateful Gatlin not only helped with my exchange but also assisted me with my new purchase. Upon entering we ask an associate where we could find soccer cleats and bikes (wanted to purchase a bike with a kid seat instead). They told us at the other side of the store, we went. Seconds later the 2 associate's were at the bikes section just hovering. I didn't want to ask if they were following us. Overall, wherever we went they were there. There's a decent amount of softball gear here for my kids and different sizes. I enjoy the discounts that get sent to me by email and mail and the prices are rather reasonable. I will say that some of the women's clothing is a bit more overpriced than other sporting good stores, so I just try to come here for my kids. Overall, a good experience. read more

Dressing rooms are locked. Everytime you need to try something on, you have to call over an employee, which has to find a key. This is a massive inconvenience for both the customer and the people that work here. Prices are average to expensive. The layout of the store is the same as sports authority which this dicks store replaces. So if your expecting a different experience, this is not it. read more

Last night I came into Dicks in Encinitas.I really don't shop here someone told me they have Charger stuff. So I decided to see what I could find for my son. I found a flag it was priced at $9.99 so I decided to buy it for Christmas I went to check out and it rang up at $35.00 I told the salesman that it was $9.99 so we went to check sure enough it was. He said he had to notify the manager ( Blond rude older women) she comes over and says that it's not $9.99 and that they had been moved . She says to me they weren't there earlier ( accusing me ) of moving the merchandise. Then she says to me that I should know flags are not sold for $9.99 ECT on and on that it must be my fault her merchandise is marked incorrectly.. That I should know the correct price for items sold in there store . Manager said just because the merchandise is marked incorrectly she cannot sell it at that price . She's the manger she's responsible for pricing her merchandise Instead of taking responsibility for her job She trys to make it seem like it's something I did ..No fault of her at all or the store.. Unbelievable.. I will never return back to this store There are Plenty of stores I can shop without being treated with so much disrespect I'm not missing nothing I will be sure to tell my friends about this stores problem with pricing merchandise incorrectly She didn't even apologize For the record that's why stores have prices posted so we know how much it costs If it's incorrectly priced It's not the buyer fault read more

The manager Mikey or Micheala (like the receipt says) was very unprofessional ("i mean what do you want me to print money for you over here ha ha") lied to my face several times and didn't work by the store policy. Stay away from this store! They lied to me about the return policy, i spent $1000 on my sister for a gift for her birthday and asked if she can get cash back on everything since i paid cash and i was told by 3 representatives that i could no problem! The very next day i came in and the manager Mikey or Micheala (like the receipt says) said that im not gonna get any money back and i have to take a gift card for the store and thats my only option. now i stuck with a gift card for $1000. she was really rude and very unprofessional. i recorded every thing they said and all the lies they told me the first day and the day after so probably could sue them. read more

We needed a couple of things last night so called to see if they were in stock. We were helped by Kevin who went out of his way to make sure we had BOTH of the items we needed quickly in stock. The Carmel Mountain/Poway was out of these two items, but they had them here in stock. It's a 35 minute one way drive for us to this location. Staff here has no idea what they are doing and the check out process is very slow. I came in most recently to do an Instacart order and checkout took much longer than the shopping did. Staff was completely unfamiliar with Instacart when I brought it up. At checkout I was asked if I needed a bag, I said yes because it's Instacart and the cashier looked at me funny and used his radio to ask management how to proceed. It took way too long so I actually ended up canceling the order and leaving. Can't think of a single reason I would return back here. read more

Second time I've used it at this location and when it says "a teammate will be outside with your order shortly," it's using a definition of "shortly" I'm not aware of. I watched two cars arrive after I did pick up their orders. Not sure if it's the system or the store but waiting 20-30 minutes is awful. This time, I had to call the store to get someone to bring it out - which took another 5 minutes. He apologized but this system seems quite broken. read more

This is a review for the Encinitas CA Store. My wife had been in the store a number of times over the years, but never wound up purchasing much. With their noble stance on the recent RvW decision we entered the store with a new found purpose. We needed Pickleball rackets and were directed to the proper place in the store by a friendly employee. They had a good selection with a wide range of price points. Being new to the sport we really didn't have any idea on how to select a racket. We asked 3 different employees for assistance, but none of them had any expertise to share. Two of them told us that only the store manager could help, but she was busy. Another employee told us that the one employee that knew pickleball equipment was busy stocking shelves. The employee helping us tried to relay some of our questions to the one knowledgeable employee who was stocking shelves, but that was inefficient and proved to be not really very helpful. In the end, the Manager never showed up and we decided to just purchase it from Amazon where at least they have reviews to read. I suggest the following: 1. Make the sales floor the companies focus 2. If a customer is waiting for sales assistance, that should be more important than stocking shelves 3. Train your employees on the equipment 4. Refocus the Manager's priorities. Sales should be a top priority, even over administration. With your current poor sales support, good luck competing with Amazon. read more

I came in on October 19, 2020. The staff was wonderful and helpful to get my shopping done. Andrew from the footwear department did an amazing job at getting me some shoes and making sure to check in with me even though he had a lot of different people looking around in the department and was alone so very impressed with his work! The store had some great deals/sales on this day. Also shoutout to the cashiers Brian and Audrey. They helped me with a super speedy checkout and great conversation. Both were super informative of different items in stock and valuable advice when deciding between a couple different items! All staff was being careful and following safe protocol.
