A good experience at Picture People is like a coin toss. I've been coming here for about 3 years since I've had my daughter. They have a few negatives but obviously enough positives to keep me coming back. I also prefer this Buy Buy Baby location because not too many people know about it and it tends not to be as crowded as the Roosevelt Field location. It's best to try and make an appointment even though that doesn't mean you'll start at that time. For the negatives: -wait time can get crazy -very expensive and overpriced -sometimes very unprofessional,unpleasant or inexperienced photographers. -they are trained to oversell and talk you into spending money you didn't plan on spending The positives: -no sitting fees -instant prints. You don't have to come back for your pictures. You get them on the spot. -coupons/groupons/membership perks -backdrops & props available to you Ok so, despite all the negatives, they have reasons to come here. If you use your coupons or get a groupon you can really save. The membership makes sense if you are going to come in and get pictures done anywhere from 2-6x a year--some people don't have time for that. I did when I was a stay at home mom and it was great but it's impossible for me to take advantage of it now. I believe it's about $40 also but you definitely get your money's worth. They charge $18 a sheet. The cd with the prints is $125 I believe. Ridiculous. Lol the trilogy(frame with 3 pictures is 150$). Just crazy prices. But they do get people All the time. She even broke down the months for me also said we are in February and it's the 2nd month. I was like yeah a huh and 12 is 10 months away. What just passed was December 2015! But besides that always great pictures. If you land an appointment on a busy day good luck. Bring patience with you so you don't get frustrated quickly. I came here to take pics for my son's 1st birthday. I was worried about how it would go because he did not react well to the camera at all during his newborn pics. Well, let's just say... we had a great time!! Ebony was our photographer and she was super upbeat and friendly - my kid loved her and wouldn't stop posing for her. She changed a few backdrops/scenes that matched his outfits and did a great job keeping his attention. The pics came out great and I wound up buying all of them *eye roll*. She was very patient with me when I took a while to pick which ones I want printed and which pic to include in which frame. She mentioned they do all kinds of photography (baby, family, professional headshot, etc). The only reason I am giving them a star off is because they're freaking pricey! I originally walked in with an $18 deal and walked out spending almost $200. I'll definitely be back, but I learned my lesson - pay for the CD and print the pics for pennies at CVS! read more

I wish there was an option to give a zero rating! I had a scheduled shoot at the location in springfeild Va, when the day before I called in to inquire about the clothing changes. How many, and to confirm the length of the session. After being told the session 1hr I was later told that I had 20 min and 3 changes‍ how in the world is that possible with an infant. So I asked how in the world am I paying 125.00 for 20min and within that 20 min 3 changes. That means I have realistically 10 min of a shoot. When I asked Madison the supervisor she gave so many dumb reasons until she ran and was ready to jump off the phone. So I asked her for the cooperate number, she gave me a number that nobody answers. Then when I tried to call back the studio they ignored my call. How do I know? I'm glad you asked. I called them from another number and they picked up right away. More over I looked up the studio policy, absolutely nothing mentioned about 20 shoots. This place is clearly not about customer service one, or Common sense. I don't care how many fancy back drops you have. If I'm business you can't be honest, and provide good customer service, you don't deserve to have my money. I will never recommend them to anyone. I'm seriously battling my conscious between rating them 1 star or 2... I have only rated one other place 1 star so this place is on the fence between HORRIBLE and BAD with an incling of hope. I have a membership here and started coming to the BuyBuy Baby Picture People studio more often since the Roosevelt Field store closed for renovations. It's true they are amateurs but with coupons and an idiot proof plan (i.e. outfits, toys, hair comb) you can walk out with great photos for $18 Don't let this place up sell you at all, I have had moments where they've offered free prints for no reason at all-- they were just feeling friendly and recently I JUST had a moment where they decided at that moment not to honor my rewards card benefits, and mark off that I used a coupon when I did not (avoiding the ability to use it later on) Because there isn't anything listed in writing and no solid rules to go back to, this place makes it easy to bend rules and create them as they please. This presents a problem because when en employee decides they just don't like you for whatever reason suddenly you're coupon wont be accepted. I am following up with the Better Business Bureau on this store because I've e-mailed their company AND written reviews and no one has contacted me back about this problem. It just doesn't seem legal, the fact that they adjust the rules the way that they do, I can easily feel like this is a racial issue or a personal attack the way they shun one customer and shower another with better offers. Avoid this place, and I would say this company. If you're already going to spend more than $100 hire a photographer and support small businesses, you'll get better quality, better talent and support the little guy. read more

Came in today to have pictures taken of my children and grandparents. Ebony was our photographer and I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. She took us for our appointment promptly and was wonderful with my two toddlers. She was kind and patient. I highly recommend this studio and Ebony for pictures of small children. read more

I am not sure if it is this location, as it appears the ones in malls do better, but damn. My wife joined a club here and we came back a number of times and I have multiple experiences to draw this opinion on and not just one or two trips. The staff is inconsistent. Sometimes nice & sometimes not, but always slow. expect to wait for a half our or more at the least to get and review the pictures after the shoot is over, so you can easily expect a 2 hour wait in most cases. The photos are usually good, though not always. After being tormented by these super long waits and staff that acts like it does not care, they simply come out and try to upsell you on things you did not want without even trying to apologies for making you sit there in agony.... and that I do not get at all. Only 1 time did anyone say anything to appease us. When you consider the service and the high price, it is hardly worth it. You are better off hiring a pro off site for more, you will be better off for it and less stressed. read more

My baby did cry but the times he didn't you would think the photographer would get better angles. He didn't move around he just stayed in one spot. Oi vey. I needed to have Christmas pictures taken of my 14 month daughter along with a few shots of the family...and unfortunately came here. My boyfriend, her and I just finished moving into a new apartment and everything has been hectic so I decided to just give them a shot since I hadn't scheduled anything months in advance and I needed to be able to have them printed quickly in order to send out my Christmas cards. We opted for the $150 High Res. CD with all of the pictures from our session, along with the same day Christmas cards. Our total was around 190.00 which was way too much, but I was aggravated and just wanted out of Picture People. (My daughters newborn and first birthday pictures were around 300.00 for one on one sessions with a photographer who is not a teenager...and who actually knows what she was doing...I really wish I would have done that again) The photographer was not rude or anything...she just didn't seem to care much about the shots. She would snap one or two and say ok got it. The pictures aren't hideous, because I think my daughter is gorgeous.... but I really don't care to share the family shots. In one shot, half of my boyfriends face is cut out, and most of them my daughters hair is a mess. The photographer could have mentioned that or taken another one. The photographers way of getting my daughters attention was waving an envelope in the air....you would think for $200 a session they could invest in some toys or a camera cover...guess not. Wouldn't recommend this place. Picture people should train their staff better. read more

I went on Sunday for my holiday pictures for my kids and the associates Terrance and Mimi were great! Love every second of the experience! There a little long wait but it still worth! The only things was that the printer was mess up at the time to print our pictures and Bobbie said she would call if it was the printer go back on , and she never did! But besides that was good! This is our second time in this place, if I would have written this review last year perhaps they would get 2, may be 3 stars. This year if I could go into negative numbers I would give them -10. Lets see, I show up for my 5pm appointment and see that place is packed, so when I checked in the front desk guy tell me only 7 people ahead of you, I figured 3 rooms it should not be too long. Was I wrong, we waited over an hour to get into our session, when my husband dared to ask after a very patient hour wait how much longer this snooty girl told him that there two more families ahead of us and I swear she took people that checked in after me first just to spite us. The photographer was not interested in getting any personality shots of my children, I felt that she just wanted to move along, and get us out. Apparently you can only use certain background with certain props, and who would call these hideous things props, where do they find these things? Garbage can? "Gift Boxes" were all ripped, snow men looked like he just walked from North Pole and gotten into a fight along the way. The letter or numbers look either old or the wrong size to be a prop, and there only about 5 backgrounds, so my pictures look the same as last year pictures, what a hell!!! Anyhow, took the picture and back to the line now to upload them into system, about 20 min later another girl shows up and takes us through regular operation of up selling everything, so 150 bucks later I places order for few holiday cards, CD, 3 sheets, holiday tags and large portrait. Waiting to prints, so another 30 min pass buy they give us our portrait and announce that the printer is backed and everything else will be ready tomorrow!! We live about 40 min away from this place so it was out of question. Apparently they had printer problem and were now backed up by running 200 card order, are you serious, now about 10 families have to come back because they do not know first thing about managing this place. The 200 card order should have come back for it and everyone else should have walked out with few prints in hand. After some back and forth they ended up printing my prints but misspelled my last name on holiday cards, so now its junk nor did they give us any envelops to go with it. I only realized those issues when we got home since my kids were ready to tear the place apart after being there for that long. Seriously you are dealing with children do you think they can wait this long?! Avoid this place, they deserve to be out of business. read more

The reason why I am giving four stars is really based on the photographer (Ebony) that did our newborn shoot. She was SO kind and patient and truly exceptional. I was a really anxious new mom dealing with a touch of postpartum and she just kept it all so easy and happy. I was really happy with the experience. The pictures were nice, as well. Horribly slow, unprofessional, and expensive. Oh, and the photographer hit my 5-year-old son on the side of his head with her camera. Made a 1.5 inch red mark (will probably bruise) on his upper cheek near his left eye. The hit was hard enough that it was startlingly loud. (Thank God she didn't hit his eye.) (BTW, he's a super quiet, well-behaved kid, so it was not bc he was running or doing anything wrong.) Don't waste your time and money. Made a 9am appointment for Christmas cards at the end of October. I thought that would be the quickest and easiest to do -get the first appointment and beat the holiday rush. Boy was I wrong. There were two other families with 9am appointments. They arrived shortly before us, so understandably they were taken in before us. But there were only two photographers. So we had to wait even longer for the third photographer who showed up to work late. I complained and they finally took us in. Then the photographer left another session to take our photos, except that the memory stick didn't work. (He was actually really nice and apologetic.) I figured that they would have some backup cameras and memory sticks. Nope! Poor guy had to leave buy buy baby to go out and buy a new memory stick. So now they were down to two photographers. So finally almost an hour later they started taking our photos. We just wanted a few family photos for our Christmas card. Most were just horrible. Lighting was terrible, looks like the lights of Heaven were beaming down on my husband's head, it was so washed out. Photographers timing was not very good. It's not my fault that they were running almost an hour late. They should make more effort to try and get more well-timed photos, especially with kids. Additionally, the photographer made me sit in a very uncomfortable position. I expressed that to her, and she basically told me to deal with it. My husband gave me a WTF kind of look because he was surprised at her comment. Due to being forced to sit in this position, my hips are now achy. And then of course my son gets whacked hard on the head with a camera at the end of our session... what a mess... Shortly after our photos were taken we were able to view our photos on the computer. Only two of them were card-worthy, barely. The lady that helped with choosing the photos was nice, but had no idea how to lay out the text on the card and also needed my help with spelling and grammar. I paid, and then went to wait for my photo cards. The edges of the photo cards had white strips on the top and right edges. This looked terrible. I brought it to the attention of the staff, but they said that's how the cards are. They were cut leaving extra blank edge on two sides - that's normal??? It looks so horribly cheap. And I don't have the time to trim 75 cards. There were also some other nasty remarks from the staff there, and other customers were complaining as well. I'm very disappointed with the visit today. One of my kids went for birthday photos over the summer, and they came out nice. That's why I came back for Christmas photos. But today was terrible. I miss Target portraits. Target wasn't perfect, but for the price and the nice staff it was worth it. I won't be back to this place. Ever. read more

photographers were nice but not everyone there - some (white guy with beard, long grey hair, & glasses there today) doesn't know how to APOLOGIZE when customer experience is bad - ie, Monday at 10:00 appointment - not seen until 10:20 when we were ready on time, still no photos printed until 12:30. If I could give a 0 star review to this place I would, but 1 star is the Yelp minimum in this modern sense of everyone gets something - there are no losers world. The quality of the photos doesn't come into play, when you have to wait 5 hours from the time of your scheduled appointment to get them. My fiance and I had an 11:00 am appointment, arriving at 10:40 am. We were registered and the photo session began at 11:25 am. At 11:45 am, the photographer asked if we could come back after she takes care of the next session. We waited, and waited and waited, until finally at 2:20 pm, after the same photographer took care of 4 other couples, we continued the photo session. The session was over at 2:45 pm, but we didn't get our photos and leave until 3:40 pm. 5 hours with a previously scheduled appointment is egregious and unacceptable. This place obviously doesn't care about its customers or return business, because it won't ever again get a single penny of my money. read more

My experience here was overall not good. When the guy was taking the pictures of the baby he did not try to get her to laugh or smile. Most of the pictures she looked very serious. Once we were finished while choosing the photos he was not patient with us and kept rushing to chose a package and he kept asking to chose the most expensive package and did not want to take our coupon. I was so disappointed...number one the photographer we had sucked...my son had a meltdown and she kept taking pictures...i asked for props and she claimed they didnt have the one i wanted but yet other people had the prop i wanted on their pics...its too expensive...my holiday pics was so not how i wanted them to come out... there was no tree behind me and my son not present box or anything. I felt we went to take plain old pictures. I should have read the reviews before doing the photoshoot with picture people. It was my daughter's first Christmas and our first family photoshoot. Our photographer was great with getting my lo who is 10 months old to smile for most of the shots. But I did not like the background drops she chose because it did not compliment our wardrobe colors. I figured well she was trying to get all the shots in while the baby was in a good mood. The experience that really upset me was their lack of professionalism. We took the photos on 12/20, we were told that they will call once our cherry trilogy frame was ready because they were out of stock. I called 2.5 weeks later, a rep says the frame is in stock now, I can pick them up, all they have to do is pop the pictures in. I stop by a few days later, the first rep asks me to wait, she needs to check if the frame is in stock. Then she tells me OK, they have it now let's select the picture for the frame. Ummm, I selected the photos 3 weeks ago. Well it was not saved. Then another rep comes and says you may have to wait a while, they have to go to the dark room in the back to see if the picture is printed and they are really backed up with their orders. I wasn't happy and this rep was very unprofessional and pissed asked, you want a refund? Got my refund and will never come back to this location. read more
