Solid pizza place. We got the meat pie pizza, if you are a meat lover you must get this pizza. It is a thin crust style pizza. The cheese was super melty and the toppings were delish. It is not a big place so if you have a big party it prob won't work. Also the pizzeria is tucked inside this pier like area. Not alot of parking so depending on when u go parking will be a pain much like most places in St. Thomas. Got takeout from pie whole last week while in st Thomas. Yelp says they're open until 10, but google says 9. We showed up at 8:30 and we're told they were no longer seating guests, but they would allow us to order for takeout. We did not mind at all because we were actually talking about eating pizza right by the beach-- it was a win win! The pizzas are really thin, so definitely order more and/or bigger than you usually would. Personally, I ate like 4 slices, which is a lot more than I normally would. Please let me start by saying I am a huge fan of the Pie Whole and have recommended them to friends and family through the years. However, todays 53.00 dollar order was unfortunate to say the least. Two large (24.00) pies were ordered and when I saw the finished product I was a little startled. Not only were half the toppings missing but I was also charged for the "to go" box (which is not a charge if you dine in). Needless to say, noticeably smaller pies with less toppings will not retain my business as a customer. When I returned to the office with the order, several people simply changed their mind and ordered food from another restaurant after waiting an hour for me to return with the order. We asked best appetizer and was told the garlic bread. When it arrived cold we tried to eat it and they garlic was so strong we spit it out. I really needed a coke to wash it down but the cup was a small tumbler full so I didn't have any extra cause she said maybe he would give me a refill . My husband and I stopped into the Pie Whole on our honeymoon to St. Thomas. We were greeted and welcomed in to have a seat. We sat at the bar and had the manager Jersey Jake as our bartender. He was excellent! Incredibly knowledgeable about the Island's history and had great recommendations on food and things to do around the island! My husband and I had the recommended Hurricane pizza to dine in and it was delicious! We ended up getting the artichoke dip, onion rings, Baja shrimp tacos, and the Italian donuts, all which were wonderful for a late night snack! Very disappointed. I'll start by saying everyone was very nice. We started by ordering bruschetta. It was mistakenly delivered to the bar, which was right next to where we were sitting. The customer at the bar said it wasn't hers and when saw what was happening so we said it's ours. The three employees (one of whom I believe to be the owner) proceeded to argue over whether the ticket said B8 or Booth 8, who messed it up, and what to write on tickets instead of immediately bringing it to us. When we got it the bread was so overdone it completely broke into pieces on every bite. Then we ordered two small pizzas. One arrived slightly over cooked but the second (all cheese) was severely overcooked. To the point that the person serving it HAD to have known it was burnt and consciously chose to serve it anyway. Food is very expensive on the island so to pay almost $50 for 2 10" pizzas (ten of those dollars was delivery) and it not be enjoyable not what you thought you were ordering was disappointing to say the least. My heart is beating fast. I've been waiting to have a free moment to write this review about Pie Whole Pizza ever since I returned from St. Thomas 2 weeks ago. Like in the 80's classic movie, The Goonies....when the little crying boy Chunk, is about to have his hand forced in a blender by the villains unless he details everything....all the truth and all the details.....well.....after coming to this place.....I honestly felt like crying (in a sad way). And I want to spill all the details about the WORST SERVICE!!! Yes here, at Pie Whole Pizza I received the WORST SERVICE EVER!!!! And....I have traveled all over. I've been all around the world and now this place ranks....by far.....without a doubt.....the worst restaurant and food experience I have ever witnessed. Yeah, let's just say at the end of me waiting 30 minutes and being COMPLETELY IGNORED, I walked out. It was that simple. I guess this place saw me, my appearance, or whatever, and decided not to serve me and ignore me. How sad. Words can't even describe how dejected I felt. I mean, I wasn't some homeless St. Thomas local. It was so obvious that I was a tourist. Why wouldn't they serve me? I didn't do anything wrong! Now I need to get into detail. Just straightforward people having pizza!!! I walked inside and no one cared to sit me. The restaurant had a few tables and chairs and a small bar area. I made eye contact with a waitress and asked her if I should seat myself? She said yeah, wherever. Since I wasn't drinking alcohol, I avoided the bar and grabbed a two person table. Overall, the atmosphere was quite laid back. Nothing fancy. Btw, I was alone by myself....just to give exact detail. Well, the restaurant wasn't even busy. There were open tables and some people eating outside. Yet, the waitress walked past me countless times. She did not care. She avoided me. I waited like 15 minutes and finally a busboy handed me a menu!!! Finally, a menu! And he asked if I wanted a drink. Okay here we go! I said a Coke please. Well, there you have it. For the next 15 minutes the busboy never returned with my Coke and he didn't even glance at me. Yet, he walked back and forth around avoiding me like I had the plague. The waitress never came to serve me. But here was my ultimate boiling point.... Within the first 15 minutes, people came inside and sat at the bar and the bartender happily served them. I thought too bad, I just should have sat at the bar as well. Unfortunately I chose a table. But then.... 3 more people came in together and they sat down next to me. And here I was still waiting for the waitress or busboy to come over to me so I could simply place my order for a large pizza pie!! And....hmmm....you think I'm not a good tipper?? I would have been the easiest order ever! And I tip wonderfully!! Too bad, such stupid idiots here that don't care! So....just sitting and staring, waiting for anyone, the bartender then came from behind the bar and started taking the order from the 3 people who just sat down next to me! What?? And he did it so friendly. And without even looking or giving me the time of day! At this point I accepted my fate and just gave up. I walked out and didn't make a fuss. I didn't cause commotion. I just let it go. But why? What did I do wrong? I'm such an easy going, friendly person. I'm approachable! I cannot recall being so discouraged ever in my life. Oh well, I sucked it up and moved on to another restaurant. Just what a waste of at least 30 minutes to not even have had the chance to be served! It was so evident I WAS NOT WANTED IN THE RESTAURANT! They weren't even busy! This story doesn't even really begin to describe how unthinkably IGNORED I was. The bartender looked like he could have been the owner/manager. Wow how ruthlessly inconsiderate...I'm certain in the end, what goes around will come around.... Their freshly made pizzas satisfied our pizza craving, and most importantly it came out piping hot. We got their Hurricane pizza, which has a mix of all the meats & veggies - I asked for no mushrooms and they were happy to accommodate! The pizza is a thin crust pizza so not too carb heavy. The cheese melted just enough to make those beautiful strings of cheese as you pull apart each slice. The meats were pretty good too (sausage, pepperoni, etc). The Pie Whole isn't easy to find, and it's fairly small, but take the time to get there - they serve the best pizzas I've had on St. Thomas. The pizzas are exactly the right size for one very hungry person, or two people just looking for a snack. There isn't much by way of atmosphere, and there isn't any kind of a view, but the service is excellent Bottom line: Not the place to come for an amazing ocean view and you'll have to work to find the place, but if you want really good pizza and some good cold beer then this is your place :-) read more

This small unpretentious eatery in the French quarter of Charlotte Amalie is a must-do. The service is friendly, courteous, and thankful for the business. Wow. Damn fine pizzas on the island. I will note that these pizzas are very expensive. You're looking at a starting price around $20, which is high. (That's the only reason for docking a star.) That said, the quality is excellent. I really enjoyed my pepperoni pizza. The leftovers were even good cold, right out of the fridge. The real star is the chewy crust, which is cooked to perfection. They do take a long time to make them, so budget that into your dining plans. While I waited to take the pizzas as carry-out, the folks at the bar offered me water and let me connect to their wi-fi. That was cool. This isn't really a place you want to stay to eat, especially with the gorgeous views afforded by the island. It's really just a cramped, tiny bar that happens to serve amazing pizza. What I like about pie whole is that they are consistent. The food is always good and the service is as well. We always make reservations as the 25 seats including the bar, fill up fast and you'll end up not eating. Pizza is cooked in a hot wood burning oven which is located in the dining room so dress light. It is warm in here no matter how long they run the AC. They have nightly specials which are always fun to try. The ingredients are always fresh and if you like thin crust pizza then you will really like it here. Frenchtown is a great place to spend the evening hopping from place to place. You may stroll down the street for dessert and drinks or just park here for the evening. Either way you have to give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. read more
