Used to be our favorite and should be a gold mine but the service is so slow... seems like a spoof on Saturday night live! You order a drink and 20 mins later it comes then they deliver your pizza which has been sitting while the server has slowly walked past it several times and even though your drink is empty he doesn't bother to ask of you would like another. The food except for the temperature is terrific but who wants luke warm pizza? The bathroom trash was over flowing and they were out of paper towels. Come on guys- it's a tiny spot itshould be immaculate and well run! Update we went again the following week because friends invited us- different waiter and totally different experience! What an incredible box! Sturdy, rigid, multi colored corrugated card board. If you're looking for great pizza boxes, this is your place. The pizza itself? A big box of island disappointment. $32.50 for a burnt crust, cold pizza with mediocre toppings. We ordered 2 pizzas for delivery. Total bill after delivery fee and tip was $73 (that's right, only 2 pizzas). I thought "this must be an amazing pizza for that price". I have only been more wrong one other time in my life. So I was pretty close to not being able to experience this amazing place! My wife wasn't too keen on the idea of having pizza while on vacation and I kind of agreed with her. One day we needed to get a simple lunch without all the frills and decided to just get ourselves a pizza. I am so glad we did this because Pie Whole isn't just a pizza place, its THE pizza place on the island. The flavor is out of this world and knocks any chain pizza place out of the water! The attitude of the waiter or owner, not sure which he was, was awesome! It was lunch time and he was totally fine with us ordering off the dinner menu. He had this awesome surfer dude attitude that felt like you were hanging out with your friends. The crust on the pizza was perfect and crispy. The sauce was perfect and not over bearning and the cheese was delicious. My wife got her half of the pizza loaded with meats and veggies! The home made sausage was out of this world! I was so jealous that I didn't get that on my side. We also really enjoyed their garlic cheese bread! The price can be a wee bit high. It set us back about 40 bucks. One of my families favorite spots since visiting Saint Thomas! This pizza is authentic Italian pizza! If you're looking for ooey-gooey over cheesy, basic pizza- this is not your pizza place. This is authentic, high quality ingredients, homemade sauce, trip to Italy pizza. Really good! So good we visited twice in one week! Try to sit outside or get take out- inside is small and can get a bit smoky- but even so it's that good! Great beer list too- we are PNW people snd we love craft beer! read more

Worst service of any restaurant on the island. And that is while the owner is on-site working. Tried to go once and waited 40 minutes for a table the hostess didn't even bother seating us (tons of tables empty and we were the only ones waiting), so we left. Went the next day tried to order take out. Ordered on the phone they said ready in 30 minutes. Over 1.5 hours later and I'm still sitting in the restaurant waiting for them to make the food. Order was two simple pizzas. Finally got the pizzas and they messed up the toppings. And the wings are COLD! How in the world is the food cold when they had me wait for 1.5 hours to get the food? Pizza is palatable but nothing great. The only other person ordering take-out came in after me and got 4 completely incorrect pizzas that they had to re make which they said would take minimum of 45 minutes. The pizza quality was ok, but for two 14" pizzas for $46 is quite expensive for what my family of 4 got. We were still hungry after sharing those two pizzas. They were also out of the first two toppings we asked for, didn't have any seasonings like parmesean cheese, and didn't give us plates or napkins to take back. Although we caught them on an off night, the food delivery did not show on Friday, the pizza was delish!! I felt bad as there was one bartender and one waitress but they did their best to serve everyone in a timer manner. Despite all of the "don't have's" what they did have was very good. I am so disappointed that we picked this place for a pizza night. I don't know how our appetizer wasn't put into the kitchen until I arrived to pick up our take out order but she said I could wait until they made it which would be longer than I would want to wait or she could just take it off the bill. I don't know how she knew how long I would have been willing to wait but I didn't elect to. It was a take out order so I shouldn't blame the pizza being cold on the restaurant but it wasn't that far to drive and I can't imagine that it was fresh from the oven even though I had to wait on it. We had the taco pizza and it was unique. Dry, bland, hard tasteless crust, minimal toppings, and most of it went in the garbage. Overall I really can't recommend The Pie Whole and I wish I would have picked something better. read more

Chicken parm came out cold three times. Owner has the worst attitude. Avg food at best. $7 order of onion rings netted about 6 rings- half of an onion. I'd never go here again. Stay away. Pie Whole is one of my favorite places in St Thomas, all beer lovers must come here! I vacation in St thomas every year, and make sure to fit in a night at Pie Whole each year. The place is tiny, only about 5 tables and a small bar, so call ahead because they get booked up fast. The brick oven pizzas are really good. I always get the wheat crust! Spinach, artichoke, pesto sauce on pizza!? Yes!! Delicious. They are hand tossed and sit in the brick oven to cook, so your pizza takes a half hour sometimes to cook, but be patient it's worth the wait. Also, try the artichoke dip appetizer!! It's sooo good!! Creamy dip spread on thick fluffy dough, with huge artichoke chunks. It's almost better than the pizza! The extravagant beer menu is the reason I love this place. No where else in St thomas can you get a Westmalle Tripel, a Rochford 6 or 8, a Schneider Weisse, dark stouts, or sour ales. Pie Whole has it all for the beer lovers. And, they serve each beer in its proper corresponding glass, the way it should be!! Very nice work!! They are super friendly, great service, awesome people. The beer list is incredible. As in seriously unbelievable. I had the Urthel Saisonniere which is an interesting mix not-quite-wheat, not-quite-IPA. The Flemish sour beer is amazing, and there are few things in the world better than a sip of Samuel Smith's Chocolate Stout. The Baked Spinach and Artichoke Dip makes for quite an unforgettable appetizer in a pizza-crust break-away bowl. My Veg-Head pizza had plenty of fresh veggies on a crispy, just hand-tossed crust, the Cheese Lover Pizza is a mouse's daydream, and the Holy Trinity Pizza is a delicious caprese that reminds me of how St. Thomas tourists look after a day at the beach. We were walking from Crown Bay to Charlotte Amalie and decided to go off the beaten path. Never ones to turn down a pizza shop, we stopped in. So glad we did. First off, this place has an awesome beer list with a wide variety of craft brews. Second, the pizza is so, so good. They have a wood fired pizza oven and the sauce is made with San Mariano tomatoes, giving a super fresh and bright flavor. While waiting for our pizza the woman sitting next to us was eating a salad that looked so good that we had to order one. We got the Caesar with balsamic drizzle and it was the perfect balance of tangy and sweet. The bartender helping us was really friendly. I got the feeling this place is popular with the locals and she made us feel like one of them. Definitely stop in if you are in Saint Thomas and want an excellent meal with great service! read more

This place has good ratings and I've been here before but something's changed. Be prepared for a surprise on your bill if you order a half and half pizza. Not only will they charge you for the more expensive pizza (which was 6$ more and I expected) but will add 2.50 for making it half and half, then add a dollar for making it a take out. I asked the waiter about it and he said, " I can't do anything about it that's just the way it rings up." I got out to the car and looked In the box. This is what I got for $28.50. Pie whole is a neat little restaurant. They have outdoor and indoor seating. We sat indoors where it is nice and cozy and you can see the pizza oven. For starters tried the raved about spinach and artichoke "dip." Well I wouldn't call it a dip. It was like a pizza with a fairly thick layer of the dip where normal pizza toppings would go. So this made it real easy to eat but made it not really a dip. That being said it was still amazing I would recommend giving it a try. Pizzas are all 13 inch. We got a custom pie with Italian sausage and sliced tomatoes. I'm not quite sure if we got Italian sausage because it tastes a lot like chorizo which is also coincidentally on the menu. If the chorizo wasn't on the menu this wouldn't be suspect but I can see how these two could be easily confused. read more

The food here is EXCELLENT. We loved everything we ate. There are only a few tables inside and a few outside. The staff was so sweet, but the kitchen was definitely on "island time." The first time I went, it was okay because I was enjoying the break. The second time, when I went with my family, it was so hot inside, it was cooler outside (in July). A great hostess Asia (very colorful), met us at the door and kept us entertained with local information and food ideas. Overall the food was very good and timely. We have a good time; except for the self proclaimed manager over the pizza oven. We watched as a hard working young man was verbally taken down. Comments like "I'll fire you right now and replace you tomorrow". "You can kiss my white a_ _!". I'm leaving at 9:00 and you can quit if you don't like it.". While the manager spend most of his time talking, checking his phone and walking around; the young man did 90% of the work behind the counter. Our pizza was great! Final note to the owner - we will be back, but if I were in your shoes. I would give the young man working tonight a raise in front of the manager; then turn and fire the manager. It's not that they're slacking; everyone was genuinely working hard when I visited. There's an extensive beer list of regional and foreign brews. The only place on island I know of that does thin crust brick oven pizza, and one of the only reasons I go into to Frenchtown for. It's a tiny restaurant, with a tiny bartop, and patio, but no views. Excellent service and fresh quality ingredients. They also have a fairly decent craft beer menu along with their own brewed beers on tap. The pizza we ordered was big enough for 2, maybe even 3, (we took some slices home) and came with huge pepperonis at $17. Currently sits at the top of my list for favorite pizza on St. Thomas. read more

A wonderful dining experience here tonight. Service was exceptionally attentive. Our server was very friendly and gave us much needed recommendations from a huge beer selection. So many great choices including a personal favorite, La Chouffe from Belgium. The Caesar salad was a generous portion and the 10-inch Chi-Town pizza was so deliciously thin and crispy with generous amounts of ground meat and red onions. It was too big for two to finish so we had to share the rest with a stranger on our walk home. Definitely will return for the good food and vibes. read more
