The restaurant is covered patio seating with a wonderful wonderful view of the rest of town. Seeing the lights turn on across the island as the sun is setting seemed absolutely magical. We had a pretty large party with us, and they put together a table for us pretty quickly. However we were warned that the wait after our order would be longer than usual because of our size and accomodation. (Nothing a few bottles of wine couldn't fix!) The bar was stocked with basic essentials, nothing over the top but lovely enough to get everyone a cocktail or preferred beer/wine. The food menu had a good variety for everyone to have something interesting they could eat! Not everything came out perfectly, or even at the same time, but they were willing to accommodate everyone's needs and fixed a wrong order very, very quickly for us! Everyone who had ordered the mahi and salmon loved it, it felt fresh and zesty paired with onions and peppers. The shrimp dish was lovely and mild, as was the tamarind chicken. They were willing to accommodate some specific needs and made plain grilled chicken for someone who needed it. The rasta pasta had a bit of a little bit of spice to it, which was fun for an island take on pasta as a vegetarian option. They did have a vegan option with a veggie burger that came in a pita. The sides were all great, the fries and mashed potatoes were amazing, and the rice/beans were good as well. Unfortunately because we sat down close to 8, some menu items on the dessert menu were out. This lead us to the rum cake, which came out WARM and was absolutely delicious! If we stayed nearby again or needed a meal close to town, I would consider this a cute and reliable restaurant.

Check in here and receive a refreshing glass of rum punch. I ordered the Seafood pasta. It was the creamiest dish straight from heaven. I was licking the cream off the mussels. How crazy good is that. Don't forget to check in to receive your complimentary glass of Rum Punch! I'm looking forward to returning to try other dishes.
Started with jerk chicken skewers. They were good with the right amount of spice. My main course was lobster coconut curry. My sides were plantains and potato stuffing. You could order the sides or the curry over noodles. I would definitely get the curry over noodles or rice because the curry was so good. I ate the broth like soup. The plantains were a tab bit overcooked and the potato mash was good.
My daughter and I had our last night dinner at Sugarcane Grille. The food and drinks were delicious and the service was warm and friendly. We even got to meet the chef who came out and received her accolades, personally! The ambiance was lovely with string lights sparkling against the night sky. March 2023. The Sugarcane Grill is located on top of the Bunkerhill hotel. The best way to find parking on that street is to try and come down the hill that Sugarcane Grill is located on.. we had the curry coconut lobster with mac & cheese and plantain. Let me tell you it was very good. We also had the grilled mahi with coleslaw and plantain. That was also very good and tasty. The two rum punches were also good. The rum cake was very good but small portion. This location looks a little sketchy, but it was very quiet. It's a small location and only one waitress. The food was very tasty and service was good.
3.5 stars. We actually had a very nice dinner here, buttressed by a cool breeze, overlooking the city. But a couple of clear culinary misses gave us pause about this otherwise tasty establishment. You can't fault the ambiance though. Just about anything you eat on their elevated, outside dining patio is gonna taste that much better. To that end, our shrimp and lobster curry dishes were actually pretty wonderful. No leftovers at all. But this was offset by pork skewers and rum cake which were not so wonderful. And pretty much everything was pricey given the portion size. Our drinks were OK and service was decent. So all-in-all a nice, but not perfect dinner. I don't think we'd go back, but it's worth checking out if you're in the area.
Tamarind chicken is a real bomb. It came sizzling hot and flavors were spot on. I grew up eating tamarind in so many different ways and got high standards. When I saw this is in island cuisine, I only wondered what their take would be and I'm highly impressed. It's not like Indian tangy that you eat with rice. But on a very gentle side. It came with a choice of 2 sides. I opted for baked Mac and cheese and fried plantains (sweet). Mac and cheese was really wonderful. Not super greesy but with a slight crunch. Thanks to Yelp, I also got a free rum punch on check in. They add 18% gratuity by default. So note that.
Can not beat the ambiance of this outdoor dining experience above Charlotte Amalie. Great views, Great food and rum concoctions and excellent service. Rocky was an amazing, attentive and informative server. We had a very nice tropical dining experience!!..... just what we needed to get into the Caribbean vibe after a long travel day.
Highly recommend for authentic dining in STT! I had the best baked Mac n cheese one could ever have, 2 weeks post trip and I'm still thinking about it. Made a reservation and were seated promptly. They were short staffed, but made good effort to get around to all tables. Food came out rather quick, and the ladies were all pleasant and lovely. Again, skip the tourist traps and try sugarcane. It is easy to miss as outdoor signage is small and entry is hidden.
Amazing!!! some of the best food I've ever had in my life. I got jerk pork, others got the lemon pepper shrimp and Rasta pasta add chicken. Got the shrimp skewers and jerk chicken skewers for apps. AMAZING. Very small little hole in the wall spot. Perfect.

So glad we chose Sugarcane Grille! A treasure location with hole-in-the-wall-feel, we were spoiled by delicious food, great conversations with friendly staff, and a beautiful view of the sunset, water, and rooftops amidst the lush trees. Best meal we've had across Tortola and St. Thomas! read more

Located inside the Bunker Hill hotel, don't get thrown off by the signs that read "hotel guests only past this point" or something along this way. We were able to find street parking right upfront, but it can get tricky. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman and by a beautiful view of the houses on the hills. The view and vibe alone deserve 5 stars. The issue we had was the wait time. We waited close to an hour for our food. If we weren't so hungry and tired after a day of exploring, we would have just cancelled the order and left. We tried the shrimp appetizer and it just didn't up meeting expectations based on the menu description. My friend had the mahi sandwich while I had the mahi entree with mashed potatoes and plantains. The mahi in the sandwich was a bit dry, but my entree was pretty good. However, definitely not worth the one-hour wait or the cost. Overall not a bad experience and worth a try, but go there with lots of patience hahaha. Also, note that 20% gratuity is included regardless of group size. read more

Small restaurant with nice view. Menu selection was good and food tasted great. Joel was an attentive server and provided good service. The mussels and jerk chicken appetizers were great. Seafood medley pasta also was very tasty. Take a cab to get there. Street parking very difficult. read more

This restaurant is in the Bunker Hill Hotel. For the best view while dining, one climbs 3 flights to the top floor for lovely al fresco dining. We had Curry Chicken, Crispy Fried Plantain, & Rice, as a light lunch and it was good, though not great. This place is primarily worth a visit for the ambiance and the view from the top terrace where one can dine. Location: 4 stars Ambiance/View: 5 stars Service: 3 stars Food: 3 stars read more

All of the food was delicious and unique. The seasoned rice and the seafood medley Alfredo linguine were the stars of the show! The drinks were nice and the ocean breeze made for a wonderful ambience. read more

My wife and I came in town and stayed at Bunker Hill. We tried the recommended fine dining experience here, located at the roof top. I must admit, the ambience and overall atmosphere was dope!! I thoroughly enjoyed that part. BUT the service was slow, to start off. We were amongst the first few people in the restaurant, yet couldn't get served like so. Drinks were good, when they finally got there. Appetizers were hit or miss. I ordered the 6 pc jerk wings, which left a lot to the imagination. My wife had mussels, which may have been the best thing on her plate. Took almost an hour for our entrees to come out. My spicy pork, seasoned rice and mixed vegetables, I give it a dismal 3/10. My wife's lemon pepper shrimp was cold and had maybe 5 shrimp mixed in with the heaping portion of peppers and onions. She had to send it back, which they warmed it up and sent it back to her. By that time, I was beyond OVER this whole experience. After paying a kings ransom for subpar service and food, I walked back to my room and went to bed hungry and unsatisfied. Never again. 1/10. This restaurant on top of a hotel has the most beautiful views of the hills and water, amazing service (shoutout to Laverne) and amazing food. We shared the calamari and jerk chicken wings for appetizers. And then devoured the coconut lobster curry and the peppercorn steak. We highly recommend this place. read more
We ended up at this gem by a referral from our hotel. The staff was absolutely awesome - very accommodating and friendly. We didn't have a reservation but they found a way to seat us at the bar. The restaurant is outside in a covered area on a hill with an amazing view. We ordered drinks and were open to anything. We asked the hostess/bar tender to make us something she recommended. Good call - it was something close to a rum punch with fresh nutmeg and fruit garnish! We had two each they were so good - not too sweet , just perfect! Now the food was just as good. We had the mussels, sugarcane shrimp, Rasta Pasta, and lemon pepper shrimp. The pasta was perfect al dente and the flavors were good. I added shrimp to the pasta. The mussels were amazing- great cream sauce- which is out of the normal for me. Lemon pepper shrimp was good - but was sitting in a lot of oil/butter. We had a dessert- the vanilla rum cake. It was great. Warm and fresh topped with whipped cream. This place is good and we enjoyed the experience. We went twice and it was consistent. The only downside is getting to it. Lots of stairs - be ready. read more

The view was gorgeous, and maybe it would have been a far better experience if we were just there for drinks (I had a Caipirinha and my husband had Virgin Islands Ale Summer Ale), but some of the food ended badly. I ordered the Coconut Lobster Curry on linguini; at $36, it was probably the most expensive item on the menu. It was a little too heavy on the curry, not that it was too spicy, but that they just put WAY too much curry. The coconut oil was pretty heavy, too; by the end of the meal, I was fishing little pieces of linguine out of a pool of oil and curry. About two or three hours later, I became nauseated and vomited everything up. Maybe it was the curry, or maybe the curry was covering up the taste of spoiled lobster. Additionally, my teenaged son ordered the Cheese Burger and finished only half. My husband asked to eat it (we're the kind of parents who will occasionally eat what our kids leave behind) and said that he didn't think it tasted like beef. He asked my opinion, so I tried that, and I agreed. There MAY have been some beef in that burger, but based on the texture and flavor, we were certain that some other meat or plant products were added to that burger. The remaining dishes were fine. We had Fried Calamari for the appetizer, which was very lightly fried and very lightly seasoned. My younger son ordered the Spaghetti in Marinara Sauce and loved it. My husband also enjoyed the Rasta Pasta. We shared the Vanilla Rum Cake and Chocolate Brownie Sundae for dessert. A weird note: our waitress came back and said they were out of brownies, so instead we ordered the Chocolate Fudge Cake with ice cream , but when she brought out the desserts, she said, "I found some brownies" and gave us the Chocolate Brownie Sundae instead of the Chocolate Fudge Cake. That was a little weird, but the desserts were both very good. As you can see, aside from the weird burger and the, um, lobster curry fiasco, it was very nice. But if the food makes you vomit a couple of hours later, it's really difficult to get past that. I'm not saying "definitely don't go here," but definitely don't get the lobster or "beef" burger. read more

We got dinner here one evening and were impressed. The restaurant is located inside a hotel. We found street parking easily. There's plenty seating and the view is nice too. The owner is so pleasant and the food wonderful. We got the Jerk chicken skewers and sugarcane shrimp as appetizers and the tamarind chicken with seasoned rice and fried plantains all of them were delicious. Would recommend eating here when in the vicinity. read more
Warm welcoming friendly environment the stuff are very polite and engaging. The bartender Mr. Cas was truthly amazing from his hospitality to his form Of knowledge about the local area to visit. Mr. Cas made some phenomenal drink just informing what's you are in the mood to drink and he would make anything to you liking. The food absolutely amazing fresh hot ready and delicious! Yummmy'! Visited Sugarcane Grille on my food tour while on vacation. My wife and I have already decided that we are coming back tonight for dinner. The curry chicken, rice and peas and plantain were delicious. Oh and the Bushwacker, that is a wonderful drink. The staff was nice and presented the food so well. I really appreciate the hospitality here. Can not wait to come back. read more

Victor was awesome! He's the friendly voice answering the phone. This grill sits in the Bunker Hill Hotel with a great distant view of the Bay! Had the grilled octopus salad. Also ordered tamarind juice and stewed chicken. Delicious!!!! Curry stewed chicken had a slight hint of curry, comes with two sides. I ordered plantains and garlic mash. read more

Tucked away in three City center SG is a real gem. All authentic and fresh food. Elevated for nice ambiance and serviced by amazing staff. The octopus salad was not good would be my only complaint, very rubbery. But the seafood medley was great, drinks amazing and sides delicious. Ohh, even dessert was a hit! read more
We tried this restaurant last night and quite frankly we were disappointed! Many good reviews but our experience was very lacking! Had the calamari which others raved about but the portion was meager,and the calamari was tough! Sauce was not bad. A creamy alioli with a little kick. Another dish was the octopus salad! The salad itself was ok but again the real octopus was extremely tough and chewy like rubber. Finally we had the linguini with the seafood medley. Overcooked pasta with some mussels , fish and some other ingredients we couldn't quite put our finger on in a spicy sauce. We left 3/4 of it,. Perhaps it was the chefs night off (Monday) but this place us didn't cut the mustard! We did get a "fee drink" the fair! It was a adduced sweet rum punch but we left most of that too! read more
