What a wonderful surprise. I've been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years, but it's changed owners now three times since the hurricane. Last owner, not so good, this time you'll be happy. This is a relatively inexpensive restaurant with incredibly great energy and a wonderful crew working well together. Café Roma is the place to go when you're starting to miss Italian food. Everything we had tasted as good as you hoped it to be, an Italian restaurant that makes you feel like you're back home. Not one of those fancy-schmancy, Italian restaurants, but more like a home Italian restaurant that you might've gone with your parents, like the place next-door. But what was truly special was the Energy. The restaurant was totally filled and you just could tell that everybody in the restaurant were happy and having fun. The moment I walked in, there was an attractive woman running the bar who also had an almost nurturing welcoming way, she made you feel very comfortable when you walked in. She gave me the feeling she was both bright, strong and warm. Ut seemed like everybody was working extremely hard extremely fast and working well together. Last time I came to this restaurant was probably three years ago, it was basically empty and it was terribly wrong. This Not like that Anymore! It is Now doing everything you would want it to do! There's lots of great restaurants in St. John, fish & Caribbean lobster is everywhere, and it's not hard to have a good hamburger if he wants something less involved. But don't we all once in awhile just have a need for some good Italian food? I know I do, and once again we now have again Ciao Bella Ristorante Ciao Café Roma

So surprised to see some lower rating reviews because that was not our experience at all! One of THE BEST MEALS we had on the island. In fact today was our best meal day for lunch and dinner and we couldn't be more happy with our last night/day with excellent food. The ambiance is cozy. The restaurant is kind of tucked away upstairs. Would suggest better street signage for more traffic. We had chicken Parmesan and shrimp pistou. Both were fantastic. A lot of restaurants have a hard time getting red sauce flavorful and on point. This was some of the best red sauce I've had. The basil pesto sauce for the shrimp pistou was unique and so flavorful. We had limoncello creme brûlée and chocolate chip bread pudding. Both were good. Bread pudding wasn't as moist as others I've had. Service was great. Will definitely be back if we are in St. John again.

Excellent food and service, no reservations required walk ins only. We went right when they opened and had no problem. 10/10 recommend!!

Great food and service. Affordable wine list, and Ian is a great server! I think it's under new management, so you should give it a try.

She was super friendly and took the time to share all kinds of local tips about the island, which we really appreciated. My wife went with the highly recommended gluten free pizza and the gluten free beer--both were excellent. She was genuinely impressed with how good the pizza tasted, especially since it's hard to find great gluten free options. I had the Mahi sandwich with a side of fries and a really strong drink (just what I needed after a day out in the sun). Everything hit the spot. Not to mention they did not even have any desserts. An Italian restaurant with not one fish or seafood item, not even one special of the night. So called cocktails Awful! Probably the best item for the price is the pizza for roughly $30 Even if you look at the The Caprice salad you will notice that it basically look like just five slices of tomatoes with five pieces of cheese on it. For the pros there should be some form of a presentation. If you go through past pictures, you'll see how it used to look. I have no trouble coming back, especially if you're sick for a while of going to a fancier restaurant, but I have to tell you it was a little pricey for what you got even though it wasn't as expensive. given places in the past, from other restaurants, it was a nice way of saving a few dollars, you will still save a bit compared to the more expensive restaurant, but not so much.

Our $19 french dip with 11 onion rings was very good and tided us over until dinner. The service is outstanding and my water was never empty. Definitely not a "bargain" as some other places on the island are for lunch, but chances are, if you're staying at the resort, you don't really care too much about a bargain. The staff is friendly, and they make a point (if you're a guest) to refer to you by your name, which is comforting (how did that gal know my name - I had just checked in?). The bartender we had was friendly and attentive and didn't mind so much the request for something that wasn't on the menu (but then again, how hard is Myers's and Pineapple?). The CBB&G also has beach service. Unfortunately, that is where they lose me. The two drinks we ordered from the gal on the beach were hot and they took FOR EVER to get. Food was adequate. I didn't feel too ripped off (after all, this IS a resort), except when I ordered sushi. I think I'm just spoiled by the riches of my favorite Birmingham sushi join (see: http://www.yelp.com/biz/jinsei-sushi-birmingham#hrid:vG7n6leCFicaYWNOqrlE8A). There are other options on the menu, and I mostly opted for the salads, which were creative, when dining there. Overall, a good option if you're a guest of the resort, and just want to throw on your cover up and flops and have a quick bite and a drink. Would I stop there if I were on a sailboat just to go to a beach bar and for the scenery? NO. There are way too many other options around the island.
