I would give 100 stars to this hospital if I could. They saved my dog's live when everywhere else told me I need to be prepared because he is going to die. September 22nd morning, I found my three-year-old corgi Landon on the first floor of my house. His head was stuck in a party size Dorito's bag. After I removed the bag, he was still breathing but not responsive at all. He could not even sit or get up on his own. I carried him, took him to the closest ER nearby. I paid $1,500 up front to this hospital because they asked me to pay for at least 70% of his final bill. I ended up spending $1,900 in this hospital. Late afternoon that day, the doctor told me Landon's kidney value started to increased, his CREA value was 3 at that point. (0.6-1.8 is the normal value) They also told me my dog needs more oxygen treatment and IV fluid, and he needed 24 hours facility to look after him which I agreed with because my dog was still very sick. They ended up transferred me to another ER located in Leesburg. The hospital asked me to pay $3600ish up front (which is the low-end price for 2 days). My dog was still dying at that point so I didn't even think about it, I paid what they asked for, went home, thought everything will get better. At about 9-10PM that day, I received a call from the doctor, she told me unfortunately Landon's kidney value was still increasing, his CREA value was 5.2, the next day they told me it has increased to 7.0 and they recommended him to do the dialysis at friendship pet hospital located in DC and the estimate was $15000-20,000 for the first week. I told them I need to think about it bc I couldn't afford it, I couldn't even afford another stay there. The next morning, Friday the 24th, the day I was supposed to pick him up, they touched base with me again in the morning and told me my dog's CREA value did drop a little bit, but his BUN value had increased to 85. I picked him up from the hospital that night, paid extra $1,060 for his treatment and medication. I took care of Landon at home over the weekend. On Monday the 27th, I took him back to Banfield Pet Hospital to do another blood test as well as IV fluid therapy because that is his home hospital plus I have wellness plan with them. They told me Landon's CREA increased to 8 or 9 something and they were really concerned, they told me to go to the dialysis place as well. I told them that isn't my option, so they asked me to bring my dog to them everyday for IV Fluid. I was willing to cause I really want my dog to get better and that is the only thing I can afford even though I have to pay them $3-500 every day even with wellness plan. I dropped off Landon to Banfield at 8 in the morning for three days, Landon's kidney value kept increasing (10.6CREA) and the only thing doctor told me was they are concerned, it's really bad, I don't think IV works on your dog. I was very depressed and almost lose hopes. At the same time, I kept looking for other pet hospitals with more affordable prices, that was when I found Piedmont pet hospital. They were super patient with me, explained everything clearly to me and answered all questions and concerns I had. I brought Landon there on Thursday, Sep.30th. Landon's kidney value dropped that day from 10 to 9or 8 I couldn't remember. On Oct.1st, his kidney value dropped to 5.8. Today, it was 4.4. I was very depressed in pass few days, I've been crying and praying every day for him; right now I feel very very thankful for Doctor Grogan and Doctor Grams and of course everyone else who took care of my Landon . Landon's nurse is really nice and helpful, I'm sorry I don't remember what your name is. Robin, the lady who helped me over the phone when I called (not sure if I spell her name right) and another guy who showed me around the hospital, all of them; were nice and professional. Landon's kidney values dropped from 10 to 4 in three days when EVERYWHERE ELSE I went told me IV fluid does not work on my dog and he NEEDS dialysis. After having a very poor experience at Animal Medical Center of Warrenton we found this place and it couldn't have been a better experience. Our dog's paw all of a sudden was completely swollen and he was limping on it. We brought him in and they fixed him right up (he most likely stepped on a bee). We really appreciate the great care! Daisy had a lump on her ear for over a year. It started out the size of a marble and grew to the size of a lime. She was continuously under the care of Piedmont Pets, who always insisted that nothing needed to be done with the lump. It burst open and I brought her to a veterinarian hospital. The lump had grown into the cartilage of her ear, and the ear flap could not be saved. Due to the negligence of Piedmont pets, my dog lost her ear. read more

I will never recommend this vet to anyone! Clearly they are more concerned with lining their pockets than an animal's well being. They were the only place in the area that had my diabetic cat's prescription food in stock and would not sell me one single can to get me through the evening until my order arrived the next day. My vet wrote me out a prescription for the food specifically so I could take it to another vet's office that had some in stock until their new shipment arrived, but this place would not accept my cat's prescription because I'm not a customer at their office. Diabetes can be a life or death situation if not regulated properly with a special diet and insulin and it is absolutely shameful that this place would rather let an animal go without and be put at risk than to sell a non-customer who had a valid written prescription a $3 can of cat food!! I ended up having to drive over an hour away to the next nearest vet that had the food in stock and they had no problem accepting the prescription from another vet's office and selling me one can of food so my cat didn't have to go without because clearly they cared about animals and their well being! read more

I've been going to Piedmont Pets for 4 years now. The front desk is friendly and helpful. Their prices are fair and they are very knowledgeable regarding new products and care for my pets. The place is conveniently located, have plenty of parking and is ample and clean. But beware of Dr. OHara she is rude and will try to sell unnecessary items instead of simplify medication for my pet. All the other doctors at this practice are thrust worthy, respectful and friendly, so they definitely make up for the bad apple. I will give 5 stars if not for that rude vet. I will keep coming to this vet and highly reccomend it to my friends. read more

I've just started going to Piedmont but have already been very pleased with their level of service. I've had care from our vet from our original vet for nearly 10 years but found that Dr. Grahams of Piedmont explained things far more thoroughly than our prior vet. I have taken my kitten here two times both for vaccinations/boosters and each time I have heard the same technician leave the exam room and go into the room behind it laughing about me in regards to how old I told them my kitten was. The most recent appointment I asked her how old my kitten was since he seemed to be big for the age I believed he was. She told me he was about 4 to 5 months so I said okay that makes sense, my friend (who fostered him) told me his birthdate was April 2nd so by now he would be about 16 weeks which is 4 months and she shook her head no. This confused me since she had just said he was near 4 months of age. I don't understand the need to talk down to me when i has just asked a simple question and the need for her to go in the back and talk in a non-friendly manner about me. Professionalism and respect for customers is key and I did not feel like I was given that this visit regarding the technician. I'm disappointed because this place had pretty good reviews and was expecting a little bit more from such a nice place. read more

They were especially wonderful when my boy kitty passed away suddenly and were delicate and caring when dealing with me, hysterical and grieving mommy. Terrible experience! The first time there I had to wait 30 minutes for them to see my pup. They were so unprofessional and rude. Dr. Lutz gets offended if you question her or ask for explanation. I gave them another chance and called and spoke with Denise to make an appointment, she was so rude!! She put me on hold 4 times before letting me know she had noting available for the next weeks. She was not helpful at all. You wont be happy, they apparently have a reputation for that! read more

Dr.Gram is a wonderful doctor, but their other doctor, Dr. Steincamp is not! Their vet tech Amy is unprofessional and rude. Be careful that she documents in your animals chart, correct information on your animals behavior and medicines. Messages do not get returned in a timely manner or relayed correctly. read more

If you don't have an appointment then don't even think about going in. I am from out if town and my dog had a UTI. The staff at the front was unfriendly and condescending. I understand that we didn't have an appointment but we still had to wait for over an hour despite the fact that my dog was unable to urinate. Several times I had to correct their poor record-keeping(which jeopardized my pets health) and a very rude man runs the front desk. I called Piedmont Pets about my dog to see if I could bring him in because he had a toe nail that was bleeding and it needed to be cut. The woman told me that they did not have any openings for the evening and that she could make me an appointment for tomorrow June 4, 2020. AGAIN I TOLD HER THAT HIS FOOT WAS BLEEDING!!!!! I found them to be judge mental and unprofessional. I've spoken to others and they've had similar experiences. If you go, be careful about questioning dr. Lutz, she takes it offensively if you question something. In my experience, things are not explained fully and not handled professionally. Better off somewhere else. And I agree with Anonymous A, she does talk down to people. Seems like everyone else is an idiot to her. Very surprised she is still in business with that kind of personality. read more

This is a fantastic vet! They actually listen and truly care about what you are saying. Dr. Lutz is smart, honest and reasonable with pricing. This is my personal vet and the preferred business hour vet for the rescue that I volunteer for. I highly recommend them. This office is terrible, over priced and the staff is rude!!! I would strongly advise that you make sure they charge you the full amount before you leave the office. The person at the front desk didn't charge my card correctly and called me after I was home to tell me I owed him fifty dollars still. This was the second time they somehow made this error. I told him I would just square up with him when I brought the dog back for a booster in a week which he was fine with. I didn't get my dog in the following week so the next week my phone is being called early in the morning everyday by the office, next he calls my wife's work and then shows up at my work to personally hand me a bill, all over fifty dollars. in the beginning this clinic was wonderful and took there time and reasonably priced. in the last 3 years they have been rush rush to get you off the phone and out the appointments and chalk it up to "allergies" per dr KRAUSE. nothing worked for what she prescribed for "allergies". i kept complaining and was rushed off the phone. she will talk over you and talk down to you like you dont know what you are talking about. and what she says it is then that is what it is. well my dog just passed away with the same symptoms i had been complaining about. found out it was due to low blood sugar which they never even suggested to check. he had excessive itching and biting.(diabetic Neuropathy). i didnt know was low blood sugar till it was too late. his sugar count was 23 when should be 100-125. low blood surgar makes one go into seizures that they may not recover. by the time i got him in an emergi-care it was too late. the seizures did their damage. now i do not have my beloved terrier. had they only suggested to do a sugar test because excessing itching is a symptom i would have known 2 years ago when i kept complaining and taking him in. read more
