First let me say that the majority of these reviews here appear to be from disgruntled people who took the time to trash Pier Cleaners. This shop has 100's if not 1000's of satisfied clients and these reviews are definitely NOT the norm. I have used their pick-up service and have dropped off dry cleaning and they have been wonderful. I have never had an issue here and have frequented Pier Cleaners for a least ten years. It is not the closest dry cleaner to me, I live in Narragansett, but I trust them and have NEVER had a problem. They completely ruined an expensive pair of slacks.The seams inside the pants were burned brown, presumably by their ironing equipment. The burn marks also showed up on the pant leg. Further, the waistband shrunk by so much that they were no longer wearable anyway.I am waiting to hear from them as the Westerly location seems to be self service. If you have valuable garments..do not bring them here! read more

I have had repeated problems with them!! Horrible customer service! I have received clothing back with stains they didn't have when I sent them in. I have been charged dry cleaning rates & discovered the clothes were being washed/dried. They offer promotional discounts then "forget" to apply the discount & will only provide store credit to force you to use them again. Most recently they ruined a sweater, & didn't notify me till I questioned them about it. Justin, the delivery manager refused to return it, offered me a $50 credit to keep my business and then charged me $38 to clean 2 Xmas tree skirts and REFUSED to apply the credit. I called the store and neither the owners or the in store manager would return my call. read more

The last straw! They 'lost' two of my wife's blouses with no answer for what happened to them. They offered to replace them with two other blouses ( don't know who they belonged to...someone else that had 'lost items'?) . We'll go elsewhere in the future. read more

Had a horrible experience at Pier cleaners the other day. Didn't get my three garments clean and I still had to pay for them. They said that they would try and clean them again but no guarantees and I might have to pay for the cleaning again. Then after I came back again the color from the garment ran into the prominently white area. The manager told me it was a defect of the garment and I should return it to the store where I bought it, she offered no compensation or refund, said they get paid to attempt to clean garment. Wasn't greeted at the door and awkwardly stood there for a couple minutes before the staff said "I can help you over here", mind you she was two feet from me. I'll never go back. read more

I brought two dresses with simple lines there to be pressed. They told me they don't usually do pressing but since they weren't too wrinkled they'd do it. I picked up the dresses today (they were speedy) and the total was $53.26!! I was shocked! What? For pressing 2 not so wrinkled cotton dresses? They charged me the same amount as if I were to get the dresses cleaned and pressed but she never offered the price upfront and said anything about them charging me for cleaning and pressing. When I permanently moved to South County, RI, a couple years ago, I chose Pier Cleaners as my dry cleaning and laundry provider. Most of the staff in the Wakefield branch, and certainly the senior staff, is always in a foul mood, cranky and unhappy. On my most recent visit the senior staff member was openly disrespectful to another customer who raised what I agree were legitimate concerns about the cleaning job. I never had a problem with the cleaning, but have decided life is too short to do business with a service provider with a consistently bad attitude. read more

Mostly try to avoid dry cleaners. Needed an item cleaned so this place seemed decent and they've been on business for years. When dropping off, the item had a few spots which were indicated by me to the friendly clerk at the counter. Suddenly, a rather unpleasant person working there piped up from a corner and made some comments regarding the cleaning process. She was very condescending and off-putting. I was about to walk out but decided to go ahead with the cleaning. Very reasonable price and I was pleased with the cleaning result, except for the item seems a little dingy and it's likely that they put all similar items together in a big machine. May try this place again in the future... Just a note ...while picking up my item there was a Big Sisters Box Truck parked there and they loaded rolling racks of bulky bedding items on the truck, and bags and bags of clothes. So their laundromat does the cleaning for donations. Good to know donations are handled well and are clean. read more

I have been a customer for only a few months. Approximately 3 weeks ago I was delivered someone else's order and not my order, comforter. I left wrong order out to be picked up and requested my comforter to be dropped off. I text and used the comment section in my on line account and did speak to someone. No one has gotten back to me. i still do not have my comforter. Furthermore, I request that unscented detergent and dryer sheets because my husband has allergies. I went to put a clean comforter from Pier on the bed and noticed a scent . I put on our bed and my husband got a reaction. I spoke to someone about this and they said someone would get in touch with me. I have not heard from anyone. I have terminated service and no one has called me. I have never left a bad review of any service, however no acknowledgement of the horrendous service warranted this. read more

If you want poor customer service, this place is for you! No one in the poorly run establishment takes any responsibly for orders and in fact turns it on the customer. Back in October, I spoke with Brian and Justin who noted that they would pick up and deliver my rug for cleaning and it would take 6-8 weeks. Nine and 1/2 weeks later my rug still has not been delivered. Justin did not return my calls, Kim was extraordinarily rude when I called initially. At the 9 week mark, I went to the High street location and spoke with Graham. He dismissed Justin's inaccessibility as a common occurrence. Graham initially retracted the promise to deliver the rug, but by the end of the conversation promised it would be delivered the following Monday. So Monday it is and I visit the store again and was was rudely treated by Kim, who said she didn't promise me anything, Justin is AWOL and Justin and Graham don't deal with rugs. She also claimed the rug wasn't in the shop. I expressed my position whereupon Kim ACTUALLY looked and it was in the shop! She told me to take it and leave. There's no way a 12 foot rug will fit in my car. I asked to speak with owners but was denied. Kim called Brian and claimed I was giving her a hard time and wouldn't leave. Brian did call back and said it would be delivered today. Let's hope. Please, do not patronize this business as they are beyond rude and unreliable. read more

I wanted them to clean my boots that were in good shape but covered in dust. They said no problem, took the boots , charged my credit card, and gave me back the boots not touched or cleaned. I went there , they said they don't clean these boots and that a manager would call me back to give me a refund. It's been 1 year and I'm still waiting to hear back. I have called numerous times. I unfortunately had my dryer break down & have been washing at home & bringing clothes to dry at laundry mats. I forgot how craptastic this place is since having to visit it last about 9-10 years ago..... The place is small to start off, and there was about 4 staff members taking up more then 1/2 of the dryers doing sheets & other linens for area hotels. The 1 dryer that I decided to take for my 1 load of clothes to dry didn't even dry them...after $2.00 in quarters & boundless frustration because I had to be to work in about 20 minutes with (preferably) DRY clothing on, I left. I'm relatively new to Wakefield, RI. My three experiences with Pier Cleaners were bad, worse and worst. The older woman who works there is a miserable person and makes every interaction frustrating. My very first time there I had a few questions and she proceeded to interrupt, speak over me and didn't help me at all. My second time was to pick up items and she was equally as awful. My third time resulted in me leaving with my items in search of another dry cleaner. Absolutely zero customer service and a major chip on her shoulder. Never go to this place. My father brought his suit here to be cleaned and when he got home the pants were too short. It turns out they lost his pants and replaced them with other pants. Phyllis the owner transposed numbers on my rug. I moved 1300 miles and realized I had someone else's rug, called right away and sent it back to the cleaners which they received in two days. One month later UPS lost my rug and I'm being treated like it was my fault. Her follow through stinks, I have had to call UPS several times to find out what is going on, she has yet to follow up to let me know that she needs to fill out paperwork so ups can reimburse me and that was posted 4 days ago on ups website! I never had any issues, they did lose a shirt of my husbands, but they always were on time with my laundry. Maybe because Phyllis wasn't the delivery person. I had ordered a dress online for a wedding, and when it arrived it smelled funky so I looked for the closest dry cleaners and Pier Cleaners popped up. Both of the women I dealt with were incredibly sweet, they send you a text message so that you can track how far along your clothing is in the process, and then you get another text when it's ready to be picked up! The pricing was also very fair, and I've already recommended this place to my mom and sister if they ever need any dry cleaning done. 10/10 service! read more

I have been using Pier Cleaners for a number of years and have been completely satisfied with their service and ability to remove stains. On a number of occasions, I dropped off shirts and men's ties with stains and they returned completely stain free. I've also used their delivery service which is convenient for my wife and I which work out of the area. read more

This place has so many problems. I had some items in storage over the winter (down blankets and such) and they wanted them picked up in the spring. I had prepaid for the storage and yet they threatened to dispose of the items (while it was still spring)! Then they said they had been calling me and I never returned their call. I asked them to call me while I was in the shop - they were calling my area code 617 number without a 1 at the beginning - getting a foreign country! I guess the manager had never called anyone in another area code before! Also - the manager is very nasty even though some of her employees were trying to be helpful. A local referred me to Pier Cleaners so I thought I would give them a try. What a great experience! I was professionally greeted, the woman at the counter took my information and called me by name and gave me the date my suit would be ready. Shortly after leaving the building I received a "Welcome" text, nice touch. Later that day I received another text telling me my suit was done, several days before the stated due date, greatly exceeding my expectations. I will now drive by the few dry cleaners that are more conveniently located to me to bring my dry cleaning to Pier Cleaners. I am looking forward to having my next suit dry cleaned by Pier Cleaners. knuckleheads? you decide! anyway, called them up to see how much it'd cost to get a pair of men's pants hemmed. first thing the woman said is, they ship em out to an offsite tailor and it takes 2.5 to 3 weeks. uh, okay. but how much is it? "you pay when they come back," she said. uh, okay, but how much is it? "I don't know, you pay when they come back." $10? $20? $50? 100? i didn't bother to ask because i felt i already knew the answer: "i don't know, you pay when they come back." ugh. read more
