My husband dropped off a king-size comforter and several articles of clothing for cleaning. When he returned to pick everything up on JULY 6, the clothing was there, but the comforter was missing. He emailed Pier Cleaners about it and received no response. When I called, I was immediately met with an attitude from Donna, who simply told me, "It's not here," as though that somehow settled the matter. We PAID Pier Cleaners to clean our comforter. They lost it. I wasn't going to say, "Oh, okay--thanks for looking!" and accept that we were now out both the cleaning fee and the comforter itself. After I continued pressing the issue, Donna said she would have both the Westerly and Wakefield locations search for it and call me back. She never did. A week later, I called for an update and was told, "They still can't find it." At that point, I asked the obvious question: What are the next steps? Pier Cleaners accepted our property, charged us for a service, lost the comforter, and offered absolutely no solution. I explained that I expected to be refunded for the cleaning and reimbursed for the comforter their business lost. How could that not be the appropriate response? Donna said she needed to speak with the owners because she wasn't authorized to make that decision. Another week passed with no update. I called yet again, only to hear, "They can't find it." YES--we had already established that. She then told me they had procedures to follow, that the locations had searched a second time, and that she had been "too busy" to call me. Apparently, there is a form that only an owner can send to document the comforter's value and begin the reimbursement process. Donna again said she would contact them. Another week passed. Still nothing. After what must have been my fifth call in two months, the only update I received was, "I haven't heard anything yet." The customer service throughout this ordeal has been absolutely deplorable. Pier Cleaners lost a customer's property, collected payment for cleaning it, and has spent two months dragging out the situation as though WE are inconveniencing THEM by asking for accountability. There has been no proactive communication, no apology, no reimbursement, and no meaningful attempt to resolve the problem. Two months later, we still have no comforter and no resolution. I guess I'll look forward to making call number six. I strongly recommend NOT doing business with Pier Cleaners unless you're willing to risk having your belongings lost and then spending months chasing them for answers.

When we first moved to Rhode Island, we were moving from Hawaii and because of that, our things…read moretook almost literally forever to get out to the East coast. This meant that we did not have a washer and dryer for months, and we had to use rental facilities in order to clean our clothes and that is how we found this place. This is not our first rodeo by far. We have had multiple military moves and every time we've had to find a place to do laundry because otherwise you're going to run out of clean clothes real fast. On my first trip out here, I was optimistic and hopeful that we would have an easy time of getting our clothes washed. When I arrived, I was exceedingly dismayed to see how many people were there in contrast with how many units were in the facility. I thought to myself wow, they have a ton of washers and dryers, why are all these people waiting for just a couple washers and dryers? I then very quickly found out that the reason everybody was waiting for one or two particular units was because all the rest of them were broken. I don't know if it's because they don't care to fix their items or they're trying to force people into growing weary and paying them to do their laundry ( which is something they do offer) but I do know that this is very inconvenient for me and was very inconvenient for everybody else. It took me hours to get my laundry done because of how few of their washers and dryers were actually able to do what they are there to do. When I was done with this chapter of my life I was super relieved. I was glad that I didn't have to use one or two units in a giant laundromat of broken washers and dryers and go through all my quarters. Now with covid, I'm even more glad that this chapter of my life is behind me but I feel bad for people who still have to use this facility. There were times when I was there that I also felt unsafe with other people doing their laundry and leering at me or being awkward with personal space and boundary issues. I don't know what they're doing here but it's not great and it's definitely not providing a quality laundry service for aquidneck residents.
