You can see the Narrows Bridge from the ferry.

Much smaller ferries than what I'm used to riding. Apparently the ferries are managed differently too. Instead of Washington state ferries the ferries that go from Steilacoom to Anderson Island seemed to be managed by Pierce County. Despite that all of the operations for this ferry are very professional and friendly! The ride to Anderson Island is a long enough one to really enjoy the ride and the scenery as you sail. You can see a great view of McNeil Island and Ketron Island as the ferry passes to it's Anderson Island destination. At this ferry terminal you can also go to Ketron Island too however the island and population is very small (population of 17 there) and reservations are required to sail there. Anderson Island definitely has the bigger population of around 1,000 people and the island is very quiet and relaxing! If you like riding the ferries and to explore then I definitely recommend trying out these ferries. Being a resident of Anderson Island may present other elements and challenges in trying to schedule a ferry but as a pedestrian tourist it was perfect for me to spend half a day over there and enjoying the round trip on the ferries!

This is a nice ferry terminal. There are bathrooms for both sexes and a moderately large sitting area while in wait for the next ferry. The ferry from Steilacoom to Anderson seems to run every hour in the winter with delays the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays each month to deliver fuel to the islands. You have to walk down the hill to purchase tickets since you can't pay while staying in your car. I believe you can buy tickets in advance at the terminal as well since I think tickets are good for like 40 days or something. Check the website and don't quote me on that. I don't know how people get to McNeil where the violent sex offender center is, not that you'd want to go. http://www.steilacoom.org/ferry.htm

Need more frequent runs. 1-2 hour wait between loading is not convenient. Second, it's a big hassle to have to park your car and walk down the hill to purchase a fare. Everything takes too long. The only redeeming part about using it is to view beautiful Washington from the Puget Sound.

Very nice area! The terminal is very nice as well. Nice chort ferry ride to Anderson Island- but just a warning, if you dont know anyone, there isnt much here to do on Anderson Island!

From the very first day of working with him to plan and organize our trip of a lifetime, we felt we were in great hands. Phil's fantastic first-hand knowledge of the camps allowed him to create a trip that far surpassed the typical group package deals. Phil meticulously plans every detail of the trip, from the best places to stay to recover from jet lag before the safari, to every transfer. You are never left wondering where to go or if someone will be there to meet you. The camps he chooses are small and personal, where you are taken care of and treated like family. The safari experience is second to none, with personal drivers and guides who are excellent, highly skilled, and knowledgeable. If you want a safari experience to remember, I can't recommend Phil and On Safari-In enough!

We didn't know anything about going on safari, and Phil build a custom trip that catered to exactly our personal travel style of going to some of the more off-the-beaten-path places with fewer tourists, but still lots of amazing experiences (we watched a family of elephants chase off a pair of male lions!). Everyone we met was on their 4th or 10th safari and when they found out we'd never been before, they'd always ask, "So how did you even find this place?" Also I had no idea you could have a vacation with this much adventure and yet zero stress. Having Phil take care of everything and getting it all arranged for and paid in advance took a HUGE load off of us, which was so great as we both have jobs where we typically do a lot of planning and project management. By taking care of that, Phil let us go on an exciting vacation where we actually got to RELAX. We took literally THOUSANDS of amazing photos, but here are just a couple fun ones I shot with my phone.

We needed a car seat and a booster seat for our children ages 4 and 7, and were told those would be available and ready when the car arrived. When the car did arrive, we watched our driver, Chris, opened the trunk, fetched a car seat and booster seat, tossed both onto the backseat, then stood by the opened trunk and watched as my husband loaded the luggage. Then as I wrangled my children and kept them away from airport traffic, I witnessed Chris circle back to the front seat, get in, close the door, buckle up, and then simply sit and watch as my husband again struggle for a good 10-15 minutes to attach and secure both the car seat and booster. If there were any legality that may have prevented Chris from setting up the car seat and booster seat beforehand, we were not informed. He said nothing. He did nothing. He just watched. The final straw was the state of the car seat: visibly grimy with dark stains. It looked like it was picked up on the side of the road or fished out of the dumpster somewhere. Our 4-year old became so frightened, he fought us and cried as we bit our tongue and strapped him in. The booster seat was in no better shape, but our 7-year old handled it better--kudos to him. The car itself, at least, was clean. The driving was safe, thank goodness, but the ride reflected its driver's bitter and sour mood. Our conclusion? Never again. If you are a family traveling with young children, take note.

I was worried that if i used a rideshare service a driver might not be available and prompt so early in the morning. Excellent service - clean car, plenty of luggage space, friendly and competent driver, and I called to book less than 24 hours the day before. Great peace of mind to not miss my flight. The person on the phone was competent and prompt to answer questions / give me a quote as well. These folks had the most competitive price leaving from a residential neighborhood in seattle (1/2 the cost of me paying to park at seatac). I will definitely book with them again for an early morning or late night airport ride.
