Small pierogi order 6 pierogi with beet salad and coleslaw.
    Ray B.

The pierogi house is a small polish restaurant serving homemade pierogi, cabbage rolls, borscht and other polish dishes. I opted for the 6 Pierogi special with beet salad and coleslaw. I had 2 potato and cheddar cheese, 2 broccoli and feta cheese, and 2 ricotta and spinach. All were nicely prepared. They prepare each order separately, boiled then on a flat grill for a bit to brown up. I would guess you could have them just boiled if you so desired. They have an assortment of toppings you can choose from including green onions, fried onions, sour cream, and bacon. The sour cream wasn't the best out of a squeeze bottle, not thick and tangy as you might expect from a home style restaurant. The only downside I can comment on is their price point, pretty expensive at $10.50 for a small order 6 Pierogi and 2 sides. The large is $13.50. A nice change from burgers and pizza. I recommend.

The family running this place is very sweet and kind. I believe it was the mother and one of her daughters who welcomed us to their restaurant as if it was their home. She talked about polish tradition and how the perogies are made. The moment I saw their grandmother walk out of the kitchen with a fresh batch of perogies, I knew this will be an authentic experience. I have to say that the price you pay is quite expensive for what you get. 6 perogies with a bowl of soup comes to approx $17. To be completely honest, I felt the perogies were a bit bland and was just unimpressive. The salads were refreshing but nothing special as well. It simply did not justify the cost. The soups on the other hand were absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed their garlic and pickled soup. They were very hearty and flavourful. I would highly recommend trying their soups over their perogies. Overall, the experience was quite neutral. The food was "A-OK", but quite expensive.

Awesome food! This was the first time I came here. Amazing food! I also tried their pickle soup! Fantastic!! I love pickles.

Cheese with bacon, sour cream and green onions. Side of beets and coleslaw.

My mom picked up cheddar cheese pierogies, and meat (pork and chicken) ones, with carrot salad, beet salad, and coleslaw sides. They were still warm fifteen minutes later, not overly soggy or crispy, and covered in sour cream, onions and real bacon bits. Not the fake stuff. They also have soup and shakes. We agreed that we liked the cheese pierogies best. The sides are nice and refreshing. For a person who can't stand coleslaw, I was impressed! It didn't have a strong mayonnaise flavour, but a pickle one instead, which was kind of weird. Can't wait to come back and try the blueberry ones!

2 broccoli, 2 spinich, two cheddar. With coleslaw and pickles. Yummy just not filling enough.

I love perogie's! The best ones Ive ever had were in Montreal. So good. So, when I found out the was a new perogie place near my home I was excited. pros- its evidentnthe perogies were super fresh. and i loved that i could top them off with allthe fixins ie. sour cream, bacon, onion etc. love the assorted flavours as well. Also, restraurant super clean Cons- price. For 6 perogie's and two sides (quite small) i fell that 11 dollars was a lot. Especially since the perogies were quite small. Also felt the staff (who were super young 14-16) lacked people skills Overall, it was ok. Nothing special nothing bad.

What a great idea! Quick and easy to order, great tasting pierogies, great salads. Tired of shawarma, burritos and pita places? Check this one out!

    Quick and delicious lunch.

The restaurant is small, but vast enough that you won't feel squashed. The "buffet" is situated to the side, with menu items framed behind it on mounted shelves and a mural painted next to the shelves. You tell them what you want and they scoop it for you. A TV plays in the very back and the drink cooler sits across from the buffet as well. We ordered the following: Cabbage rolls combo with buckwheat and cabbage on the side. It was basically stuffed cabbage. Hubs & daughter thought this was good, but it was no big deal. It was ok. Mushrooms and cabbage pierogi and cheese and potatoes pierogi - Overall these were good but we've had better. Hubs only had the mushrooms and cabbage pierogi and he said that he enjoyed this better than the entrees. Somehow, he didn't get to try the cheese and potatoes pierogi. Schnitzel with green beans and potato pancake- Daughter liked the schnitzel and thought that the sides were ok. Hubs thought the schnitzel and the potato pancakes could've used a little more crisp and that it should be fried a little bit longer. Taste wise was ok. The string beans were overcooked and reminded him of school cafeteria. He always wanted to try it but felt disappointed. Tripe soup - We over got to eat this while there, so Hubs had it a few days later. He said that this was pretty good. It was beefy and the tripe was nice and soft. This was one of the better tripes he's had in his lifetime. Daughter is diabetic and wanted diet soda but they didn't have any, so she ended up getting water. The restaurant was cute but it was cold. All the patrons were wearing coats. Place could use some heat. Service was friendly and quick, though. Glad we got to try it, though.

A great experience overall, and would recommend to someone who wants authentic Polish food!

We got there and they were willing to seat us, even though they were closing soon. My husband got the taco pierogi bowl and wow! I've never had anything like it, nor had he. What a fun way to enjoy pierogis. What was better was the taste. It tasted AMAZING! I got the Polish Plate and this Polish granddaughter couldn't have been happier. It was made with the love and care like my grandma would have made it. The soup of the day happened to be Dill Pickle soup. That happens to be my favorite. I am beyond stuffed! We won't need dinner tonight. What was even better is that they have frozen soups you can get to go. So, we got 4 of those and the menu had strawberry pierogis (which I have never heard of). I asked for a to-go order of those. I planned to wait to eat one with my parents, but I was dying to know what a strawberry pierogi was like. It is an explosion of flavor. It may be better than nalisniki. If you are in this area or passing by, I highly recommend stopping. It is run by a mother and son who are a true gem. On my way out, another Polish customer was walking in, so that definitely added to the authenticity! Pierogies were really good! Much better than the run-of-the-mill pierogies available at your grocer's freezer. Starsky's carries these pierogies for $6.99, so it's slightly cheaper at the "outlet". Street parking was reasonably easy to find. We were seated way back in the restaurant and the seating was a little uncomfortable as our table was set up right next to the bar (but way too close to the bar, because our table was long) and other patrons had to constantly shimmy through a small gap between our table and the bar to get to the washrooms downstairs. Not great. We ordered a family style meals to share (combo for 2 and a combo for 4) and the amount of food that came out was probably enough to feed 10 very hungry adults. Definitely do not indulge on the bread basket that comes before the meal, because you will need to save room for the main event. The massive platters came loaded with pierogies, 2 different types of cabbage rolls (my favs!), schnitzels, and various condiments (?) of cooked beets, carrots, cabbages...etc. We were first served 1 different soups; white borscht and beet soup and both were tasty. The meat dumplings in the beet soup balanced out the sweetness of the broth and it worked well. I personally preferred the white borscht which was perfectly sour and a slightly over-powering sausage taste. The refreshing cucumber salad with dill in sour cream was a great accompaniment to somewhat heavy tasting meal. The hunters stew was a hearty bowl of tender morsels of meat, potato dumplings in a well balanced tomato based sauce. Although most of our food was great, we found the cabbage rolls (the traditional tomato version) and the schnitzels too dry. And along with the issue of having to deal with people constantly brushing by, I am taking away 2 stars. I may revisit Cafe Polonez if I'm back in the area, but not in a huge rush either.
