Visited the farm for some Pumpkin Picking and to enjoy some of the attractions noted on the website and their fall/Halloween flyer. We had done a few other farms in the past recent years closer to NYC and decided to travel a bit further to see some options in Orange County. I figured there would be a rush in the late morning/early afternoon on a Sunday only two weekends before Halloween, so we decided to get there about 2:30. We got there and though it wasn't super crowded at the time, there was still a good amount of people there. Fair amount of parking spaces were available then as well. Nice decorations in the front. You enter the activities area through the shop, where you can buy various items as well as buy tickets to the different attractions. Though admission is about $2 per person just to enter, the package deal is the best option at $9 per person for everything. This includes both small and big corn mazes, the hayride down to the pumpkin area, and the petting zoo. I believe the original $2 only get you to the main common areas with a few playground areas. The petting zoo has a few animals to see including goats and turkeys. There is a nice play area there with some tires and slides. The small corn maze is moreso catered to kids and they enjoyed it. After leaving that area you walk though a few more play areas which include a large spider web net and some swinging tubes. You also pass a large shed where you can reserve and hold birthday parties in. You are then at the larger corn maze. This one was a lot harder than the smaller one. We are fast walkers and with overhearing others running into dead ends we made it out in about 25 minutes. If we were alone in the maze, we probably would have taken about 45-60 minutes. It was a challenge. The aisles of the maze can get narrow though. You exit to the Pumpkin PAtch area. It could be that we got there about 3 PMish but there wasnt much "good ones" left. The large opened field with pumpkins scattered. I would have liked to see what it was like at 10 AM. You can then wait and take the Tractor (Hay Ride) back to the main area (or simply walk 5 minutes). Pumpkins by the way are $0.55 per pound for larger and $0.65 per pound for smaller. You pay through the store on the way out. Overall it was an okay experience. The website and flyer maybe made it seem like there was more. But with completing both mazes and everything else, we were outta there in about an hour and 15 minutes. Prices for the activities and pumpkins were fair I would say compared to other places. All staff members were very helpful and friendly. Also kudos to the puns written on the tombstones...some really cracked me up...Here lies.."Dee Kayed"...Classic.

I went pumpkin picking, petted a few goats, saw a sunflower patch, and went through a huge corn maze.

I believe there were…read moreothers close to this one, but we went with Ochs because of the low admission fee ($5 per person) and petting zoo. It was an hour and a half drive from upper Manhattan. We went here on a random Wednesday afternoon so we basically had the orchard to ourselves. The first parking lot you see is for their store, you have to keep driving up for the u-pick orchard. There you check in to pay your admission fee, get your wristband, and get your apple picking bag(s). They give you a map where the ripe apples are highlighted for you. My favorite apples were the honeycrisp and snap dragons. They grow vegetables too but honestly we didn't explore the orchard that much (it was huge) so the only other thing I picked besides apples was a tomato, which I felt like was pretty difficult to find a good one. I handed out the apples to other friends and colleagues and they all liked them! There's something different about picking the apple straight off the tree than the apples you would normally just buy at a grocery store. It's a lot crispier when you pick them yourself! The store has apple cider doughnuts! Now being that I am a Californian where we don't have this apple picking culture, I was wondering what all the hype around apple cider doughnuts was about. NOW I GET IT they're so good! Unfortunately since we went on a weekday the doughnuts weren't fresh (they make them fresh on the weekends) so some of them were stale, but most were still good. It's honestly more of a cake than a doughnut, but so good! The doughnuts are self serve towards the back. The store also had a cat on the prowl haha We ended up not even having time to visit the petting zoo, but overall I think my colleagues had a good time here and I would recommend this orchard for anyone trying to have a no frills apple picking experience. I believe there was like a building restroom closer to the store and port o potties closer to the u-pick orchard.

The apple cider donuts are a must-try! We came on a winter day few days after Christmas and they had free samples of apple cider. I got some tea and honey to bring back home to FL. I also bought some apples and they were so soft inside and juicy. Unlike any other apple I've had. I wish I had a way to bring the Amish butter home since a family member has it in their home I often have it with bread in the morning. The staff were friendly, and everything was well-organized. Heads up It's a bit busy during peak times, but that's to be expected at a popular place. But when we came on a Saturday they were practically empty and lady made a joke not to come on the weekends so I assume normally it's a busy day or they dedicate it to stocking up since when we came I saw about 3 of the staff unboxing stuff. Overall, a really enjoyable experience with a charming atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back next season!

Upon arrival each person pays a $10 cover charge that you receive a ticket for use in the country store in the amount of $10, so technically you get your money back as long as you buy something. Honestly the visiting experience was only okay, I am not sure I'd go back or recommend it BUT this is tempered by the fact that I did buy the biggest, prettiest mum and I may go back again for another one next year. I definitely have the nicest mum in all of Jersey City. I think it was around $20 for my huge mum and I was going to buy some apple cider donuts, but when I saw they were charging $18 for 12 donuts I put the package back on the shelf.

Honestly best apple cider donuts I've ever had + freshly baked , not stale at all and very soft and fluffy (but you have to buy it in a dozen, you can't buy individual) Lots of apples to choose from ~5-8 kinds from evercrisp to snapdragon to gold rush. Gold rush & pink lady were my favorite. Atmosphere: Loved for fall! There's was live music, plenty of apples and pumpkins to pick from, plenty of benches and seating indoors and outdoors for eating, and areas for children to play Dogs allowed! Service: friendly everywhere!! Price: cheap for entry, food is $$. You have to pay a $10 fee but it goes towards anything you buy. For apple cider & cider donuts I would say worth the price. Walking inside, it's a different experience at Wright's Farm. This visit, I want to buy a bottle of local wine and some local cheese then go back to the hotel. I see there is a very nice selection of Hudson Valley and regional wines. I also buy a nice local, spreadable cheese along with some crackers. I noticed towards the back, I see a wall of homemade jams. And they're all packaged in these cute mason jars! Strawberry Jelly is a must but then we went a little nutzo with a few more jam flavors as well as homemade apple sauces, fresh cheeses and pickles! Sunday, its check out time and we're heading back to Long Island after breakfast. My wife said we need to go shopping for dinner today. I said, Let's go back to Wright's Farm and pick up dinner? And this was the highlight of our trip. In the cold cases, I see homemade ravioli, one of the stuffings was corn? I had plans to stop in The Bronx and get a few boxes of Raviolis. I gambled and said lets try their corn ravioli. O.M.G. This ravioli was fantastic! My wife made it with fresh sage from our herb garden. It was a little pricey but it was better than anything I had this year. For the week, we bought a large ham steak and a ham hock for pea soup. I saw something interesting, a black futsu squash? I told my wife, lets buy one and take a chance. Amazing! My wife cooked this squash and it came out deelish. Dessert? My sons inhaled the apple cider doughnuts we bought home for them. Wright's Farm, it was a pleasant surprise to discover your local farmstand.
