They have a…read moregood assortment of trees to pick from with a single base price which can be a blessing or a curse. The fixed price is nice if you are going for a huge tree where you get the best bang for your buck but if you want the experience of cutting down your tree but can only fit something small in your home I think the fixed price can be a bit much for smaller trees. They are only open for several days of the year usually the first two weekends in December so call ahead if you are coming from afar. It's also a family owned farm so it's a cash business only; no checks or credit cards so make that withdrawal ahead of time. Cutting your own Christmas tree is a neat experience and a real treat if you have smaller children. The farm provides hand saws for cutting or you can have an attendant cut your tree with a chainsaw.

I have to say I cannot believe the way I was treated when I visited Farmside Acres. I pulled up and saw an open gate. I pulled my truck in and walked around looking for a tree to cut down. I was looking around for a representative from the farm. I could not find anyone so I called their phone number. I then saw a car pull in. I walked up to her to introduce myself with a smile. She then menacingly confronted me and told me to get off of her property. Apparently they were closed, but the gate was opened. She acted as if I magically should have known that. As if I was in someone's front yard trying to cut down a pine tree. These are some of the least friendly people I have ever encountered in my life. If you are in a Christmas related business you should remain friendly at all times. I was driving a brand new car and have a clean cut appearance. She acted as if I was a prowler there to rob her. All she had to say was, "I am sorry, but we are closed at this time. Please come back tomorrow". It is not my problem that you are negligent with your security. These folks are downright mean people. Do not go here, they will take away your Christmas Cheer. I recommend finding a friendlier place to spend your money.

No one is pushing you to buy, you can take your time walking the field. It's not a huge place but great selection and very quaint! From the gift shop to the sweet shop and their "Santa" is by far the best I ever seen, well worth the $20 sitting fee!!! He doesn't rush you and my sons both got a toy. A must go to if your looking for a farm to cut your own!

I know how to keep a natural tree. I've never paid more than $10-$20 per foot. We bought one of their pre-cut trees, that was tied to a post and put back in the ground a little bit. We didn't realize this, at first, but inquired and were told it was cut less than a week prior. When we got home that night, we cut off another slice from the bottom and put it right in water. I've never, EVER had a tree (that I've cut down myself) stop drinking water within a week, and have drooping branches and brittle needles within the 3 week mark. I've had Home Depot trees last longer than this. We cut the tree on 11/29; it's bone dry by 12/21. How am I supposed to keep this dry thing in my house for another 2 weeks? For $375, absolutely not.

Now that the kids are older, I heard that they have events for adults at night during fall weekends. I went Saturday night and really enjoyed myself. My wife did also, we made this event our date night and will most likely be back either on a date or with friends. All of the employees were extremely nice and the farm was lit up and decorated beautifully. The choices of food and drinks (alcohol and nonalcoholic) were great. Each food and beverage option was clearly thought out by the owners to make their guests get into the Autumn and Halloween season. There is a gift shop that is filled with country items and different little knickknacks and tasty bites. You enter through the store, so I would recommend buying your stuff before your night begins so they do not run out of stock. There were fires pits and a band that played all night. The band was perfect! They were not loud and just played the right type of music for the atmosphere. I have been to a lot of outside venues like this one and the bands are either too loud or play music that is "just not right". The band Pierson's had was very low key but were excellent musicians and the lead singer had a great voice and their choice of songs were perfect for the atmosphere. The prices for drinks, food and gift shop items are in line with prices at other events of this type in the area. Thank you Pierson's staff and owners for providing such a great event. Have more please!!
