Our food (four subs) was STILL not ready for another 30 minutes. There was a steady line of in person customers, of course, but they had three workers actively making subs, and all three of them appeared to be prioritizing the in-person line. Only sporadically did they work on our online order, even though they were already behind on our order & those in line had only just arrived. Three other customers who had placed online orders arrived while we were waiting and were still waiting when we left. We finally got our last sub just as they finished serving their last customer in line. Again, this was 30 minutes after we had arrived, 30 minutes after our food was supposed to be ready, and fully an hour and 15 minutes past when our order had been originally placed. This was quite frustrating. I appreciate that the workers appeared to be doing their best, and they did apologize for the wait, which I also appreciate. But I could have gotten my food within 15 minutes if I had just gotten in line with everyone else. I'm not sure what the point is of having online ordering available, if the food isn't going to be ready when promised and the online orders are going to be so deprioritized compared to the in-person orders. Either they need to change their "ready by" times or they need to change their workflow. I will say, the sandwich, which was a vegan turkey situation, was absolutely delicious. I just wish I hadn't had to stand for 30 minutes and watch them make food for other people when our order had already been pending for longer than anyone in line.

What surprised me the most was that it was a big cake, not just a cupcake. Picked up some peach ice tea which was great. The cashier man was nice but didn't take the time to help me figure out the app. I finally figured it out so I could pay for my items. New to this app thing. Didn't know I would not get a receipt. He said it would be emailed but I asked for it and he gave it to me.

It's unfortunate that this is the case, but it is what it is. the atmosphere in Harris Teeter is calm and pleasant. I can't stand shopping at any of the other grocery stores in the area because they are so loud and bright, and it's all just too much for me. It feels fancy in here, and that's because it kind of is! Harris Teeter selection is fantastic. I usually found what I wanted. This ranged from organic potatoes to curry sauce, Tofurky deli slices and craft beer. Their beer selection is small, but there is a nice little collection of options. You can find local brews here too, and I found that to be very very exciting! The wine selection is also extensive and delicious. There is an emphasis on Carolina wines here, and I think that is really important. As for people thinking Harris Teeter is expensive? Well, some products ARE. However, there are sales and great coupons to take advantage of. When you compare the prices here to the prices in other areas, Harris Teeter seems like a bargain basement. Then again, Wilson is a small town with a low-average income. If you are looking for something special, definitely come here. Harris Teeter is guaranteed to have great service, great food and plenty of options to choose from to make your meal special.

But their meat counter is the real find--we wanted ribeyes for a barbecue and the meatcutters found us some really beautiful, aged beef and cut it to our specs and they were terriffic. Skip the Food Lion and all the other sub-par chains and stick with Harris Teeter for great food. A new store twice as big as this one will open in the next few weeks out near the new Target on Raleigh Road. One more tip--their cakes! Tasty birthday cakes with buttery frosting!

The sign out by the road made me a little skeptical but I convinced my husband to turn around and let me take a look inside- I was sure glad we did. It has an abundance of everything you can think of if you like to bake or just enjoy to eat. I have been wanting to bake pumpernickel bread forever but finding all the ingredients just never happens but I was thrilled to find Every variety of flour from medium rye meal pumpernickel to einkorn. They even had the malt powder. Home I went to bake up my first loaf ever and it was excellent! The have all sorts of things, if you like to bake- thickening agents, Sugars, flavorings,...a variety of jams, cheese, meats, baking pans, gadgets... They have fresh baked bread-we brought home a loaf of sourdough bread- regular loaf style but was fresh and pretty good. Planning a trip back with some friends, there is a nice new cafe in Roxboro- Incorrigible Cafe, will grab lunch there and then head over to Yoder's for something different to do. There is also an old school house and jail in town. I believe you need an appointment to go inside. Also prices were good compared to Whole Foods. Worth a trip if you don't live nearby.
