Ordered a custom cake with custom colors, specifically purple and blue and they gave me an all purple cake with purple details, I asked them to do the writing on the bottom of the cake since I have decorations going on top of it, and they wrote the writing on top of the cake... messing up where the decorations are supposed to go also, the cake is splitting down the middle. I always go to Lowe's for my cakes, but I'm thinking of going to Publix now. read more

First time here and I will return. Wonderful atmosphere. Great selection. Almost has a Whole Foods vibe. Draft beer counter. Huge flower shop. Decent bread selection. Not to mention a sushi station that had me making a hard decision between a poke bowl and a variety pack of rolls. Small improvements would be to re-evaluate the price of all the flower arrangements. If Publix and Costco can make $10-$20 arrangements, so can you. Every one I looked at was north of $30. And what they can't help. No room for lines at the register. Holiday crowds and every register open. We (customers) were on top of each other. Looking forward to being back on one of the special days on the chalk Calander up front. read more

I've shopped here for more than 15 years, and my experiences have always been very good. This is a very fine store - always very clean, brightly lit, very well-laid-out, products are attractively arranged and easy to find, and with excellent customer service. The produce section is amazing, with a very large offering of fresh fruits and vegetables and an variety of specialty cheeses, dips, sauces and spreads. I really like the cheese selection - in my opinion it's the best of all the big area chains, with prices comparable to BJ's and Costco (which are my second-place choices for cheese and dairy). Bakery? A wondrous section of delights to tempt anyone! I come here most often when I need a cake for a special occasion. I always get my birthday cake here; white cake with Bavarian Creme filling and buttercream frosting, and it's better than the ones I used to order in Texas from Lucy's Cakes, which was voted Best In Austin for five years straight! You can trust them to deliver a delicious, exquisitely decorated cake for a fraction of what you'd pay at a specialty bakery. Breads are equally superior in quality - try their French and Italian! I get my pies here for holidays because they're better than homemade. Meat Market: theirs is, in my opinion, THE best in the Raleigh-Durham area. Lowe's has the best and biggest selection outside of an actual butcher shop, and at better prices. I often shop here just for the meat! The wine selection has very good quality and also gets the best marks of all the other supermarkets I've shopped at in the RDU area. The downside: prices on many basic grocery items are noticeably higher than several other big-chain grocery stores, especially Harris Teeter, Wal-Mart and Food Lion. Their self-checkout lane can be frustrating to use, especially if you have a large order. The auto-system always stops, refused to continue and sounds off with a request to leave all my sacks in the cart and not move them until the transaction is complete. If you have a large order, you quickly run out of space. If you've got a full cart don't use the self-checkout. It's also timed out and forced me to wait for an attendant because I "took too much time" trying to rearrange my sacks without taking them off the stand! Due to job constraints, I need to shop first thing in the morning, but they do not have checkouts until 7 am. I have to be on the road to Raleigh/work by 7:15. I spend $1,075/month on groceries/cleaning supplies, etc. Over five years, that could be $64,500 in sales. But they refuse to have a checkout person for 1 extra half hour (6:30), who could serve many customers during that time. Not the best decision. But I'll honor it and take my business elsewhere. read more

I love this Lowes location! It's not far from where I live and everyone is so pleasant. The store is always clean, well stocked and never hectic. I always have a nice shopping experience here. I love to check out the fresh cut fruit, and several times I've caught it on special pricing (marked down) and it was still fresh. They have a wide range of produce and meat sections. I definitely love their salad bar (always stocked and cleaned), fried chicken and sushi. I haven't tried the Beer Den yet, but I might stop in one day when I have time. read more

I love this store. One of my favorites. But recently Iv noticed that the older staff persons are the most rudest. Iv actually heard them talking down on people using EBT. It's sad. Because I know myself we have fallen in hard times right now. But it's only temporary. And to hear and see the older staff people be so judgmental and say things so loud and other customers can hear. It's embarrassing and so shameful. I love the young people because they are so friendly and helpful. I never in my life have been in this situation. I think that the store needs to evaluate how they treat all of their customers. Maybe have more trainings in customer service Tonight I left in actual tears out of embarrassment and shame. I would never make anyone feel the way they made me feel time and time again. I pray for the staff who are judgmental and make mean comments. read more

Merry Christmas! I just want to give a shout out to the Lowes on 42 for providing a beautiful Christmas meal for the four of us. We had a 5 lb Boars head Ham along with a green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole. Directions included along with the ham glaze made it a totally brainless success! It was delicious. This is the first time we have ever not home cooked our main entrees so I was a bit worried...well Lowes came through and it was a totally enjoyable meal. We will definitely be doing this again. Ordered my son's High School Graduation cake at our local Lowe's, was told when I ordered it they were out of the black plastic caps, but they would do it in black frosting, and it would look great. Asked for school colors (light blue and gray for writing and decorations) told no worries. Picked up my cake, complete white with light blue lettering that looked like it was written by a 10 year old with no prior cake decorating experience (No Gray anywhere) a light blue cap instead of black, told her I was very disappointed and was told there was no one still there to fix anything. Since it was 2 hours before graduation I really had no other options but take a completely substandard cake for our celebration. We are new to the area. I work at Lowe's Home Improvement and to discover this grocery store was interesting. Moving to North Carolina from Florida, we're finding there's not a lot of grocery store options. My first visit was interestingly cool. They have a "Beer Den"! Seriously! You can have a beer or glass of wine while you shop, or a pause to get started shopping. Beer prices are really good, by the way! They have a good selection like most stores and the Lowes brands are reasonably priced. Fruits and veggies are a bit higher than others. Kinda on the lines of Publix. Very clean store overall and a friendly staff. I recommend downloading their app or signing up for their discount card to capture their price specials. We'll be regulars for sure. On more than one occasion I have mistakenly purchased expired products. I could've been checking the dates yes but you should be able to trust they are doing their job by rotating stock and removing expired products. I let it go the first, even the second time but the third time really pissed me off. I purchased a dairy product for my toddler, yes it was expired. Not just by a day, a week, but months. Stop forcing your employees to do that idiotic chicken dance and let them work. Lowes Foods does not care about the customer. read more

Actually I don't normally shop at Lowe's Food for my routine groceries because I'm more familiar with Walmart. I like the convenience of picking up prescriptions or other items along with groceries. But I go into Lowe's if I need something quickly. Recently needed some fried chicken for a tailgate meal. I called the deli and ordered 2 eight piece to pickup at 5p. They were very friendly taking my order over the phone. When I arrived at 5p my chicken was hot and fresh and ready to go! It looked and smelled so good I almost grabbed a piece on the way home. Solo of the staff were racist to my mom ( a non English speaker) specifically the young looking guys serving the food (white skin, black hair and glasses) they refused to help her even though she was trying her best to speak English and show her what she wanted, not the first time this happens but I hope it's the last, I talked with the manager and I hope this does happens again. read more

Just went to the bakery. There were 5 people standing around chatting. One finally asked if we needed help. I picked up a cookie and asked if additional icing could be added. They said NO, I would have to order ahead of time. Really?? I started to ask if they would just hand me the icing and I would do it myself. It would have taken less than 2 minutes. This is the closest grocery store to our house, so In a pinch it works. However, the produce is lacking and the selection is always so picked over. They even had a red spot light over the tomatoes to make them look more appealing!!! Not cool, I don't need tricks when it comes to my fresh produce. We are surrounded by beautiful farms in Johnston country where I can buy honest produce without the gimmicks. The one redeeming quality is the drive up service. It keeps me from having to scour the isles for what I need. They charge for the convenience but I find it better than walking through the store. Also I find that they are out of many of our regular purchases frequently, which is not ideal. I enjoy consistency in knowing that what I need will be there when I go to buy it. If you think that it's asking a lot of a grocery store, to keep stock regular and put more effort into the produce, then I suggest you take a peek at Publix, they do it right. I prefer Publix as my grocery store of choice because the selection is better, the staff are friendlier, the prices are better, and they bag and bring the groceries out to your car for you. Taking the groceries out to the car and helping load them up is huge for anyone with kids. It saves me from having to lug the cart back to the store and walk with my littles through the busy parking lot twice. And before you say "well there are cart stalls to put the carts in" let me tell you, those few stalls are equally as far from most parking spots and I would still have to unload the groceries and the kids and traverse the parking lot with little people in tow. In an ideal world where people drive at reasonable speeds and minded pedestrians, it might be doable, but as soon as folks get in their cars they seem to forget they were pedestrians just moments earlier. Even without kids it's not easy to avoid being run over. So again, Publix beats this place by a mile. read more

I went into this store on December 23rd to purchase a ham for Christmas Dinner. As I was looking through the selection I found a ham with a "Sell By 11/07/2016" stamp - over 6 weeks past the sell by date....DISGUSTING. Like an idiot, I continued to shop here...On January 22nd I went into the store to buy items to make baked spaghetti with meat balls. After making the sauce and meatballs, something just didn't smell right. I asked my girlfriend to smell it, and then it hit me - obvious smell of freezer burn (meatballs had been purchased just hours before). This store is selling expired and/or damaged products. Steer clear of this place. As I am reaching into my wallet to cut up my "Lowes Fresh Rewards Card"...I am laughing. Totally disgusting. read more

I ended up in this Lowes foods this morning around 7:30am on my way home from work. I was looking for a beef roast. I went back to the meat section and didn't see anything too appealing. The counter where they keep the steaks and other things was covered with a white drape so I couldn't view that. No big deal, I went up to the front end of the store and asked the lady what time they'd open the meat case. She stated it should already be open. I told her I had some other shopping to do so I would stop by there on my way out and get the meat. She was very pleasant. I ended up back at the meat counter and saw a man in a white coat so I asked him what time he'd be opening the meat counter and he stated "what is it that you're looking for?". I stated I wasn't sure because I originally came for a roast but didn't see anything too appealing. He stated "you can't get roasts in the case!". I knew this already, but I wanted to take a look because perhaps I'd get some rib eyes or filets like I normally do. I told him I didn't see any roasts that jumped out at me and he suggested I get a London broil. I stated I was looking for something different. I asked if they had any prime rib roasts and stated I'd gotten them at lowes before with 2 or 3 ribs as I didn't need a huge one. He stated that he couldn't cut me a prime rib roast unless it valued 100 dollars or greater. I told him I'd gotten a smaller sized one before and he stated that it couldn't have been lowes. It definitely was though. He didn't offer anything else. He was incredibly rude and off putting. I ended up walking out of the store and taking my business to Harris Teeter where their butcher assisted me in picking out exactly what I wanted. It's a shame that I had to drive to the next town over to get great service. read more

If you want to go home with the groceries you pay for you better go through each bag because if the cashier and bag boys decide to give your 40$ worth of meats to the next person in line you will get no help or resolution from the store at all. What a great group of people at this store as well as the corporate office. Bouquet of flowers for my wife on Mother's Day and they were did in two days. The store associates refunded all my money as well as gave me $10 for my gas going back-and-forth very happy with the way this handled and will continue being a lowes shopper! read more
