Then she transferred me to the manager and told her my problem was they didn't have self check out, rather than I was overcharged substantially, and then when I told the manager what the clerk said, she wasn't even phased by it. For a Southern Californian or just about any 80's kid not from the Midwest we've heard of Piggy Wiggly's, but it took me 30 years to visit one. While on a work trip I had some free time to scope the local landscape and after a night of drinking I came here looking for some remedies. I was pleasantly surprised at the produce selection. Sadly I imagined it would be corn, lettuce and potatoes. I'm glad I came here in the fall as the squash, tomatoes, zucchini and the standard selection was also available. Granted they were light on arugula, spinach, mushrooms and maybe considered that more "artisanal" produce. The organic selection was non existent, but I was told a majority of the produce was local which is good. The whole gluten free, organic market probably isn't as big here. I had no idea the lack of local options that compete for the grocery needs of the city. There is a walmart a few miles away, but it's outside walking distance from main streets. Prices were less expensive than I imagined for brand named products and many had generic versions at a fraction. Granted I was staying in a hotel so I wasn't here to stock the pantry I was impressed with their deli. A nice variety of meats and sausages, but considering the state of Wisconsin are supposedly big on cheese I thought they would have a bigger variety, especially of local varieties. Hours are pretty good for being such a small town and the service was excellent, very friendly, though I think they could tell I wasn't for around here. It was bright, clean and you could tell all about service. They even offered to walk it out to my car, which was above and beyond and though unnecessary, a kind gesture. Vitamin water, ibuprophen, some fruits, water and a deli sandwich was under $11.If I lived here I would totally come here over Walmart. The only thing that differs it from places like my local Sprouts, Jimbo's, and Whole Foods is the market, but it perfectly suits the needs of the community. read more

I was very disappointed today. I broke down and bought some peanut squares, always loved them, but have not had them in ages. They do not use frosting anymore, some sticky stuff to hold the peanuts on, YUCK. I will not be buying them in the future and don't shop there unless I am getting a weekly special. They are way overpriced for most items. I will stick to Aldi's, Woodman's and Costco!! read more

The Deli didn't have their vats cleaned for Chicken. The people in the Deli with a snooty voice said, "No Chicken till 10:30 am" and didn't apologize and was very rude and mean!!! We had to drive all the way to Lancaster to get Chicken!!! Platteville Deli had terrible customer service!!! read more

As a college student who lives off campus, Piggly Wiggly is the best solution to those tight budget shopping expenses. Though it may seem that the high quality brand name products are more expensive than most stores, Piggly Wiggly offers a wide selection of generic brands that cut cost and not value. For instance, the cereal section has all the General Mills cereal brands; they also have the generic brands in the bigger bags that have twice as much and cost half as much as the GM brands. It helps to take a close look at prices, and if you invest in a PW Preferred Club card, you can save so much more. Another important advantage that Piggly Wiggly has is the proximity it has to the UWP campus, its a 10 minute walk, so leave the car at home college kids! I give the Pig 2 thumbs up! read more

A lot of folks arent interested in the trek out to Walmart because PW has a nice selection and better service. They still do movie rental and drive up grocery. They've made sure they continue to offer what walmart won't. read more

Piggly Wiggly is a great grocer. They have fresh fish and fruits all year round. They sell local products all year round. Look for coupons at the customer service desk to save money on essentials (e.g. milk and eggs). Good solid deli for meats but lacks a variety of cheeses. Friendly and fast customer service. Pretty okay flower selection. read more
