The pizzas are awesome! Just the way you'd expect a pizza from a wood-fired oven. The appetizers are also very good, as they are complemented with strips of pizza dough....from the wood fired oven. The marinara sauce with the garlic bread could use more seasoning to give it flavor (garlic, salt, pepper, onion powder, etc.) The burgers are huge. They have good flavor, nice and juicy. And boy they are big! You better have a good appetite to clear the plate. The service was alittle slow, but all the staff was very polite and aware of the slowness. They comp'd us an appetizer as a result. Overall, it's a great place to hang out and a friendly place to bring the family. And worth the drive for really good pizza.

Chef Shawn really knows what he's doing. He's friendly and attentive. Food is great! Restaurant acoustics leave a bit to be desired. My fiancé and I have been there several times & have truly enjoyed every food item we've ordered.

Just passing thru and thought we would try this local restaurant. We had a caprese salad and a pizza carne. The balsamic vinegar was slightly sweet which I appreciate. The pizza was fantastic. Bacon was great, crust wasn't chewy but perfectly cooked. They gave us a side of pizza sauce which was slightly spicy which I loved. The waitress went above and beyond. She was very kind as we rushed her because we were on the road. My only issue was the way someone talked to our waitress. Someone cooking near the wood oven grill was very rough on our sweet waitress. Be kind!

My friend had the Tender 7 Wood Fire pizza and I had the Spaghetti w/Meatball/garlic bread. We shared with each other. Their pizza was the best Wood Fire pizza I ever had. The sauce was delicious. The Spaghetti was good but just a tad bland and could have used a bit more sauce as well. The meatballs were also a tad bland. Not to say it wasn't good, it was. The garlic bread that came with the spaghetti however was so excellent and I would order a meal on just that if I could. The fire oven was beautiful as well and it was fun watching the chef using it. The staff was also friendly. We live 45 minutes away but I for sure will come back for that pizza and bread! Very affordable.

This restaurant is such a gem! I'm from the Madison area, but my sister works in the Mineral Point area, so we met her for dinner here and we were so impressed. The interior and exterior is so cute and welcoming. The service is out of this world. Our waiter was so attentive and apologetic of a wait for food that wasn't even long. We wanted to order the whole menu-- and we came pretty close! We ordered a few drinks, and the best one by far was the pom liquor one served in a copper mug. We started with the caprese salad, spinach artichoke dip, and garlic bread. We were very hungry and devoured these appetizers, and boy they were delicious! We were pretty full after all the apps, and we joked about stopping after those! However, we ordered the lasagna, margherita pizza, tortellini pasta, and pork belly mac and cheese. We all absolutely loved our meals. The pork belly mac and cheese was incredible at the restaurant, and it was even better reheated the next day! The pork was so tender it was unbelievable! The pizza crust was one of the best I've ever tasted. You could even see them putting the pizza in the wood fired oven, which was so cool! The lasagna was hearty and delicious, as was the tortellini. The leftovers were great as well! I can't wait to return to Popolo's next time I'm in the area. Until then, I'll be dreaming about it!!

We had been looking for a local farm-to-table experience when we found Campo di Bella. Our first…read morevisit was a Saturday evening which consisted of a five course meal. Everything about the evening was exceptional. The first course was bruschetta, followed by a refreshing fresh salad with lemon dressing. The main course was flank steak, cooked perfectly. This was followed by a cheese board with delectable cheese samples from local dairies. For dessert, they had an absolutely amazing home made vanilla ice cream. It was rich, creamy, and very tasty. We enjoyed it so much, that we immediately reserved a second dinner which had cider braised pork shoulder as the entree. Again, the meal was exceptional. It started with prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe. I've never had prosciutto sliced so thinly, it was tender and flavorful. This was followed by a butternut squash soup that was thick and rich. I didn't know butternut squash could be so flavorful. I cleaned my bowl so thoroughly that the host jokingly asked if they forgot to serve me. The pork was next. Served with honey crisp apples. It was tender and perfectly juicy. Again, a cheese board was served before dessert. All very tasty local cheeses. For dessert, a French apple tart. I could have eaten a whole tray, it was so good. I've now been there over 20 times. Every time has been exceptional. They offer a variety of wines, ciders, and local beer to go with your meal. They also make their own vermouth which is sweet, with a hint of clove. It's so good, in fact, that we like it on the rocks. Not mixed. The host, Mary Ann, is wonderful. She takes time before each course to provide background on the home grown or locally sourced ingredients. She also gives a history of the farm and her family and, if the season permits, offers a tour of their farm. Marc (Mary Ann's Husband) is the chef. He is a culinary wizard. As I mentioned, I've been back over 20 times, which equates to almost 80 different dishes. All of them amazing! My only criticism (it's a minor one) is that the room is small and cozy and it can get a bit loud inside. It depends on the crowd, but it can be a bit hard to carry a conversation. In summary: exceptional food and exceptional people. I could not recommend it more. Update (12/13/24): We've been coming back to Campo di Bella for the last 5 years. At least 60 times or more and we've never been disappointed. Marc and Mary Ann are incredible hosts that continue to create amazing meals and experiences.

The texture of the gnocchi was so very pleasing - little pillows of goodness. The main course of polenta, mushrooms and house-made italian sausage with polenta was hearty and wonderful. As always, the cheese course was very tasty with several lical cheeses I had never before tried. (I look forward to having them again at home . Dessert was divine! I am not usually a fan of chocolate, but this was delicious! At this restaurant, they use local ingredients as much as they can, too. Give Campo a try if you haven't already. You are in for a real treat!

Children are welcome and there is a limited menu for them as well. But, when you are paying these prices, you expect a little bit more than what VV's has to offer. First, the toasted ravioli's are clearly mass-produced and just heated at the restaurant. Then, people must love the idea of salad and garlic bread (like the OG), but this is not a great offering. The bread is like that you would get at a pizza place with your order of pasta and the salad is literally swamped in onions and dressing. The pasta is house made, and fine, but that was about all that was okay. The veal marsala is just odd. The sauce is the consistency of a thick, brown gravy and it just serves to disguise the over-cooked meat. At over $100 for one adult and two kids, you'd be better-off elsewhere. Extra star for the wonderful service from Gracie.

I was in a mood for a fish fry, so we wound our way up the Lancaster road to the sign pointing to Ellenboro, crossed the narrow bridge and pulled up right in front (a good sign that it wouldn't be too crowded). Up the stairs, through the foyer and into a cheerful, eclectic space that would be tight if there was a crowd, but there were plenty of tables open. They can probably seat around 50, if you include the seats at the bar. Our server came over right away, welcomed us and provided a menu that surprised me in that everything on it looked tempting. Honestly, since I was there for the fish, I only paid attention long enough to determine that this might be a place to bring the spousal unit next time. They had four choices for the fry - cod, catfish, blue gill and flounder (the last two are what we got). You get two sides and a roll with the dinner, one side with a basket. I had steak fries and hush puppies - both were just right. The flounder was good, but I'll give the cod a try next time. My friend's blue gill dinner was generous - looked like 5-6 pieces, while my basket had three good sized pieces (I ordered an extra side). Prices were very reasonable. The food came out fast, the music was low enough that we could hear each other without yelling, and the service was excellent. Honestly, the only minor quibbles were that there was too much food to leave room for dessert, and that it was a bit chilly sitting by the window! Definitely will put this into our rotation!
