This review is just about the hotel, just so you know. This hotel was interesting. Not the best, yet not the worst. First of all, when we walked in (a family of 4) there was one bed only. Not an issue for most, but I thought someone was sleeping on the floor. Nope. Pull out bed, with some sad blankets. They did provide for a comfy sleep, however. It would be nice to have a smart tv in line with current trends, since it's good to be able to watch my own shows and movies. The bathroom was fine, bathtub had pink streaks??? Shower maybe needed another door besides the curtain already there, I was very scared of getting water on the floor. The toilet paper was one ply. Hmm. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again. They did leave us macarons and a fun notepad, but it could be a bit better. read more

Just got back from a two night stay at the Commerce Street Brewery Hotel. Best experience ever. The entire experience was one of care and attention to our comfort, exceptionally friendly service, a room that was welcoming, quiet and comfortably decorated. The pub food downstairs was so satisfying we had dinner there both nights. A really nice experience and one we'll remember a long time. Morning pastries were fresh and still warm when put out. I came with a friend and we split the Greek walnut burger with a side of fries and the sweet corn soufflé. The walnut burger held its shape (always impressive for a veggie burger) and was very flavorful. The Belgian style fries, which I think means they're fried twice, were crispy and delicious. The sweet corn soufflé was a nice ending to the meal. A custardy and sweeter corn bread. I'd definitely come here again. read more

First, try their local brew. They typically have 2 or 3 options for Amber to Stout. Now, for dinner, you have to start with the Jalapeño cheese curds. It's a good portion for two, but warning that you'll want more. Perfectly light breading, served with a raspberry sauce (it really is a great blend) and then just a little kick at the end. We both had steak. The Kentucky Bourbon was good, but the the Garlic Herb was outstanding. We also tried the wild rice (good) and the fries were cooked perfectly. We saw a ton of burgers going by in a pretzel bun which looked good too. Overall, it worth coming all the way to this side of town in Mineral Point. :) read more

Believe it, the burger is unbeatable. Miles and days later, my husband was STILL talking about it! My sandwich was great as well... but kinda wish I had ordered that burger. The corn souffle side was interesting and a nice change. We sat at the bar and our server admitted that it was only Day Two of his serving career. We missed the opening hours of the much raved ramen place in town so we were in search of the next best thing and yelp let us here. We did a flight of American Wheat, Pale Ale, London Porter, and Shandy. The Shandy was my favorite, it was light and without the headache inducing sweetness of the commercialized shandies. The American Wheat was the second best. For lunch we ordered the Chicken Red Pepper Pesto Sandwich special ($9.95) with fries and the California Burger ($9.95) with fries. For almost $10, we got a 5 oz chicken breast and unremarkable beef pattie. The pesto was delicious and the sandwich was harmoniously appetizing with a great blend of ingredients...if only we had more meat than the bun. You can taste the freshness prepared into each dish, but I could only see returning if the portions matched the price point. read more

Stopped for a late lunch today. We did the build your own burger lunch, I tried the walnut burger. The burger itself was pretty thin. It came out with pickles which I hadn't asked for but like, they were nice and crunchy, possibly homemade. The cheese was crumbled, which was different. Fries were very tasty but on the cool side. This restaurant is average at best. And always slow in service. We have been there twice for dinner while visiting town and tonight was the last. The Chicken Marsala special was dry and served with a large serving of plain WHITE rice. Since the amount of Marsala sauce was minimal over the chicken only and over-thickened, I requested some extra sauce to help moisten the rice and make the dish tolerable. But, I was denied extra sauce by the chef. They said that if they did that for everyone, they would run out of sauce. Then, I asked the waitress if I could get any kind of sauce at all to help with the dry rice, and she looked at me annoyed and confused with a response of 'like what?' Since the whole menu has food listed with a variety of sauces, I didn't think it would be too difficult for her to think on her feet of something to suggest. But, then again, she didn't even know what the chicken Marsala dish was prepared with. It was then at this point, I began to recall my first experience here. Bad. Like some others have said in their reviews, there is a general sense of not feeling welcome. So, poor service, average food, and ill-prepared and unfriendly waitstaff TWICE = just a bad place to eat. Our family will not be returning. read more

Came for dinner before an event at the Opera House. The decor is pretty cool and very "old world" rustic feeling. The dining room was very small, maybe a dozen tables total. The bar was right at the end of the dining area and had seating for 8 with no room to stand. Had to wait over 10 minutes before I could get someone's attention to let them know my wife and I would like a table. After finally getting someone's attention, we were told it would be a 20 minute wait. After finally getting the waitress to clean a table, we were sat. I had to go to the bar to get menus and then waited 10 more minutes before our waitress came over. We ordered our drinks and food right away since we figured it would take awhile to get our food. Little did we know it would be another 45 minutes before we got our food. The staff is slow and didn't seem to be all that interested in the hospitality part of Hospitality Industry. The food was good, not great. But I was in such a foul mode from the overly long wait that I really didn't enjoy it. I definitely won't be back. read more

Visiting from Florida, we had a disappointing dinner experience at The Tap Room connected with the Commerce Hotel in Mineral Point. Sampling a flight of beer, the Brown Dog stood out as an above average beer, with the others in more of an average category. The Breuben consisted basically of two sliders, less than 2 inches in size, with a small portion of meat, unmelted cheese and a price tag of $14. The Caesar salad with grilled chicken was also disappointing, due to the almost complete lack of any chicken. The chicken tenders offered a good portion, typical of most restaurants, and was nicely prepared. It seemed a paradox in contrast to the other two entrees. The wait for meal arrival was over 45 minutes. The price tag of over $70 for the above mentioned food seemed high. The adults in the group left feeling hungry. read more

A great little restaurant, microbrewery, and bed and breakfast in Mineral Point. The building was built in the 1830s as a warehouse, and has since served as an insulation factory, cold storage, and a vet's stable. The stone walls and open beam ceiling feels like it hasn't changed for 150 years. The dining area is small - good thing everyone is so laid back! The first thing you'll notice, however, is the bar - it's stunning. According to the menu, it was purchased from an antique dealer in Minneapolis. You have to see it. The people were real nice, the food was delicious, and the beer is brewed on the premises. It doesn't get much better! read more

Delicious food and beers, prompt service! The Shandy was refreshing and light. As a vegetarian, I was pleasantly surprised to find so many options. Settled on the vegetarian walnut burger and fries. The fries were so crisp--I just wish that you got a larger portion of them! Had the homemade bread pudding (with a generous dallop of whipped cream) for dessert, which was flavorful. We both stayed here for a weekend and ate in the pub. The brisket sliders were amazing and the beer was very smooth and tasty. This was our second time staying at the hotel and it was as nice as we remembered. The room has a fireplace and loveseat making it very cozy. There were also a lot of small touches that made out stay amazing. There were chocolates in the room, a great white noise machine to help ease you into sleep, also a neat little bag of sleep aides, including bath salts (to use in the whirlpool tub), sleeping masks, breathe-rite strips and earplugs. The robes were comfy, as was the bed and pillows. One morning we enjoyed the continental breakfast at the hotel and the other we went to a diner in Mineral Point. Our stay was amazing and we are already trying to figure out when we can come back. read more

We've been to this restaurant several times over the last couple of years. But you will definitely notice few reviews. The reason for that is this restaurant is not open very often. I suspect it's only open on weekends. That being said, the experience is always been excellent. My wife loves to have their Walnut Burger. This last visit I ordered the Ginger Fish and Chips which was excellent. The wait staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating. They have a small selection of beers that appeal to us. Of course they have a full-service bar. The Brewery Creek Brewpub is definitely recommended. However, don't be disappointed when you go to find it closed! read more

The steak was served with sweet caramelized onions. The tomato sauce on the pasta was sweet (this was really the only thing that I would say was bad). I am doing Whole30, and just went on vacation to stay in Mineral Point. Who knew I'd find the perfect place to eat?!? This place is so cool. They hand make almost all their dressing, most of their sauces, and from what I can tell, they have that farm to table vibe going on without being too pretentious about it like you'd find in a larger city. I went with the steak and salad. Steak was perfect of course, and I was able to get a salad dressing off the menu (rarer than you'd believe) that met the requirements of my whole30. I overheard a couple ladies at the table next to ours saying they were doing whole30 too! So it was like a whole30 haven! My friends ordered some sort of pasta with chicken with looked amazing, and had some bread on the side..... Mmmmm. Our server was new, but attentive and kind. Ate here years ago, the food was ok. Stopped in on a overcast Thursday afternoon for a beer and a snack. We both had the wheat beer. It was average. We had a cheese plate. It was made with the local award winning Hooks cheese. It was excellent. The blue cheese was fantastic. Going down to their shop to buy some now. Nice atmosphere, ok food and an unfriendly bar tender. Six people at the bar, nobody at any of the tables and a bar tender that sat at the corner of the bar and played on her IPad. She didn't talk with anyone. Why would a bar tender be allowed to bring an IPad to work? Quietest bar ever. When she did wait on us, it was like we were an intrusion. It never fails to amaze me that owners think this is the type of person to represent their business. She must be a friend or a relative. Wake up and get an employee who is a people person. I won't be back. We will spend our money where they at least try to seem interested in us and our money. read more

They did everything right! The S.U. and I were hiking at nearby Yellowstone Lake SP and swung into MP for lunch. It's located down at the bottom of Commerce St. in an old stone building. The brewmaster, I was told, has been brewing there for a long, long time and his London Porter was better than I first expected. They make all their stuff from scratch and since MP has a Cornish mining history, pasties (meat/carrot/turnip-filled pastry-pie) are on the menu. The S.U. had one with a corn souffle on the side. I had a grilled pacific sockeye fillet with a walnut pesto and Belgian fries. Very nice all around. Also, a decent wine selection that doesn't rip you off. Great spot! read more

I made my first visit to Brewery Creek Thursday, 5/31/18 and I will definitely return the next time I'm in Mineral Point. For lovers of historic buildings like me the impression of the historic quarried stone building is inviting even before you get inside. The restaurant is inviting and nicely appointed with exposed beams and a handsome vintage bar and back bar. For our party of eight the waitress was friendly, efficient and had answers to our many questions about the food and beverages. The current owner took charge within the past six months and already had four original beers on tap with quality offerings from several other breweries to widen the selection. I chose the site brewed farmhouse ale and enjoyed it tremendously. The beer flight several of my friends ordered had a generous sample of each of the site brewed offerings. And they enjoyed theirs too. The menu had a nice variety of starters, sandwiches, burgers, salads and entrees. Many ingredients were locally sourced and as fresh garden season progresses in Wisconsin there are sure to be additions of local seasonal vegetables and fruits. I had a BLT and a side of Belgian fries (twice fried) which were hand cut and crisp from the first bite to the last. The salads, burgers, traditional Cornish pasty and sides served to others at the table looked appetizing too. There are a number of rooms available upstairs and two nearby cottages also part of Brewery Creek for those staying over for several days to enjoy the charms of Mineral Point with its many historic buildings, and artists' studios. read more

My wife and I were staying at a cottage nearby and asked our hostess for some restaurant suggestions. Without hesitation, her immediate suggestion was the Brewery Creek Brewpub Restaurant and Bar. We ordered takeout, and we were so impressed we returned the next day for lunch. The restaurant itself is in one of the famous stone buildings of Mineral Point. The atmosphere is casual; charming and welcoming. There is a bar at the front, and they serve their own label. Soda came in a can, which is my preference. The food was excellent; flavorful and well-portioned. My favorite was the Walnut Burger, a veggie burger of sorts. We absolutely loved the belgian fries. The evening staff was very friendly, although we felt the waitress we had in the afternoon was preoccupied with prep work and seemed annoyed that customers were beginning to trickle in. Our review would have been five stars if not for this waitress. We were slightly dismayed that they did not have a highchair for our daughter. Also, their phone is set to play a prerecorded message with business hours, so you can't order takeout over the phone. read more
