I have been going to see Mondo for my tattoo removals for the last three months. Mind you, this is coming from a woman who has been to so many tattoo removals places, so many lasers and methods over many, many years. About 5 years ago I started removing a tattoo that I got in college. I had such a bad first experience at a previous laser tattoo clinic, so much so that I stopped trying to remove the tattoo all together for several years. Since my wedding is in the next 6 months, I wanted to hop back on the horse and start the process again, but this time with more research. That research brought me to Mondo at Pigment Tattoo and Laser Removal. I could not be happier even though we are just one treatment in. Pigment is amazing! Not only is a super cool shop that also sells artwork but it's also super clean. I even got to watch Ted while I sat in the chair, hah. I met the owner, Jeremy, at a tattoo convention last January and he was very friendly. I was finally able to get tattooed by him in the summer and he is extremely fast! He had a few designs ready for me on the day I showed up for my appointment and only took about 15-20 minutes to redraw the adjustments. My tattoo on my thigh/knee took about 3 hours and is big enough to have easily taken twice as long. It's about 6 months old now and is still just as beautiful as the day I got it. I constantly get compliments on it and it's bright, bold colors. I highly recommend Pigment and any of the artists who work here, they're all incredible. Thomas Page is an excellent tattoo artist. I wanted a color realism memorial tattoo in memory of my dad and he delivered. There were some difficult detailed areas that challenged him but he managed to pull it off but it did take 4 sessions due to the level of detail. I called a few weeks back to ask about laser tattoo removal and was told I could come by soon for a quick free consultation. The studio was a bit far from my place but after arriving I knew it was worth the drive. Very clean, neat, and immaculately kept, this was like an art studio, meets doctors office, meets tattoo shop (with all the best attributes from each of those ;) Mondo, the manager I believe, was so welcoming and friendly. He made me feel totally at ease, and not nearly as terrible about my tattoo. I'd gotten it recently (not from here) but had a pretty bad case of blowout (ink that spread under the skin, resulting in a huge bruise looking ring around my otherwise AWESOME tattoo.) To be honest, I've been pretty devastated. Most of my tattoos are hidden or easily covered by clothing, but I got a pretty sizeable one on my arm that is my only truly visible one so that fact that it looked terrible was causing me a ton of sadness and anxiety. I couldn't stand to wear short sleeves because it was a constant reminder of my messed up tattoo. He confidently told me he thought one session could drastically improve it. I paid the deposit (which was actually enough to cover my one session) with an appointment to come back a little bit down the road to give my tattoo a chance to completely heal. I went in today very nervous. I'd been making myself sick with fear and panic about how terrible tattoo removal would hurt (I've always read horror stories.) But upon arrival, I played it off and joked with Mondo, who was just as pleasant today as my consult visit. He went back into the laser room and got the machine calibrating then came out to get me after having me fill out some paperwork. He uses a cold air blower to keep the skin cool which is supposed to help with the pain. He did a "test spot" to show me what I was going to be dealing with and after the first zap, I was MUCH calmer and ready to go. It was not NEARLY as bad as I had built it up to be. It wasn't comfortable per se, but honestly, getting the tattoo there hurt worse than the laser. I think getting the actual tattoo removed would hurt a bit more, but I can tell that it wouldn't be unbearable. After about 10-15 minutes (mine took a little longer than a small tattoo would I believe, because I wasn't removing the tattoo, so he had to work very small an detailed to remove only the outer "bruise" looking ink and not interfere with the tattoo) I was smiling and thrilled that my tattoo was already visibly 95% better than 10 minutes earlier. It was a little tender and swollen for an hour or so after, but it's already feeling better and the swelling has gone done. He doesn't think I'll need another appointment since I was just there to remove the blowout, but if I feel like it could use a touch-up, I will not hesitate for a second because both the price and the pain were 10000% manageable for me to clean up my tattoo. Honestly, this place is by far the best to get laser removal treatments. They know exactly what they're doing and use the best machines. They are extremely knowledgeable regarding the settings on their machines to tailor it to your exact tattoo. I went to 2 other shops prior to theirs and I wish I went to pigment initially. My fiance and I were looking to get cover up tatts in time for our wedding, so we researched cover up artists in the area and called Pigment. The apprentice who took care of us on the phone was very friendly and helpful, unlike many other studios we tried. We were assured that there were at least three artists who could cover up my kanji and my fiance's scroll work. But when we arrived for our appointment, all but one artist got up and left for lunch, even though there were two of us wanting work done. And the one remaining artist immediately started telling us that we both needed laser tattoo removal before he could do anything, because covering kanji isn't possible. We were both hoping the artist would try and come up with a new design that could incorporate or camouflage the existing designs, but he flat out said it wasn't done that way, and he wasn't going to come up with some "mediocre artwork" for us. We were pretty floored. We were both open to having much larger pieces done, to make the incorporation easier, and he refused that idea, too! He said I didn't "need" a big back piece! WTH?!? We were so disappointed!! This place feels more like a soho art studio than a tattoo parlor and I think that's how they see themselves. These guys aren't the kind of experienced, tested tattoo guys who know how to fuse technique and talent, while giving good a good customer experience. Maybe in a few years, but not today. I ended up at a shop on Chicon where we had EXACTLY the experience we hoped for, with an artist who took over a week to come up with a design that would fit my skin, my existing artwork and my hopes for a newer, better piece. read more

Recently came here with a girlfriend. She was the one getting tattooed, but I was the driver. The windows have a kind of frost over them so you can't see inside, but man once you're inside it's NICE! And the guys are even nicer. But most importantly, they are skilled. The apprentice greeted us right away and showed us the artists portfolios. We were able to talk to a couple of artists and what their style was. They're amazing at doing new school style tattoos which are really colorful and 3D. (They're also amazing at old school style, but new school is exactly what we were looking for.) These guys will help draw up and plan an amazing tattoo that's even BETTER than what you envisioned. They really pay attention to detail and their fees are based off of how many years of experience they have... (Ranging from $100/hr-200, I think.) If you're going to get a tattoo, it's permanent, people. Get an artist that knows what he's doing and is going to make it look fabulous so you won't need a stupid cover up later on. That being said, I saw two other customers who had cover-ups done at Pigment Dermagraphics and they looked PHENOMENAL. Another customer showed me a lion on his calf, which looked good -- but he admitted he wished he'd known about the artists here because they would have done a much better job. The guys are really helpful and friendly. The place is super clean with modern leather furniture. The bathroom was clean and smelled great. The artists offer you a free bottle of water, and provide A++ service. My point is, they are super sanitary and pay attention to small details. They even played a movie for me (FROZEN) and let us jam out to some good vibes. Can't recommend them enough. Check out their stuff on Instagram! Found this one of a kind tat/removal studio right here on Trusty Yelp. I was in the market for some removals and didn't want to venture down in to Austin too much. Reviews were awesome and after doing my own research and looking at before and after pictures of tattoo removals I gave Saxton (the removal guy) a call. He scheduled me for a free consul immediately. Came in, got pricing. Clean studio. Saxton was very professional and knowledgable about the skin and lasers. I am a medical esthetician and know a thing or two myself. I didn't disclose that up front and he was spot on. I did let him in on my profession on the second visit. I wanted to get in on the sunscreen talk that we both agree on and my skin talk exploded and got the best of me.. Bottom line.. He knows his stuff. Came in for my second visit and I had gotten a bit too much son while island hoppin in Hawaii over Christmas and instead of taking my cash and damaging my skin/results or instead of just charging me and doing a super light treatment he kindly explained to me that he would like to wait a couple weeks before the next session. Mush respect. I will be back to visit him in a few weeks. Onto the other side of the shop.. Tattoos... My college kid came home from college and spent a couple weeks in Maui with us and apparently the tattooed Polynesian fire dancers got the best of him and he decided to get tatted when we returned to the Lone Star State. So needless to say, I chose the same clean shop that I have come to know. Always busy, good sign. Always greeted with a smile and a hello by the artists even though they have come to know that I'm not there for them.. I want the ink off.. Researched the artists and chose Jeremy, shop owner, former military, been on Ink Masters... Called and spoke with Mondo the manager. He said to come in and get a consultation. Came in with the kiddo, Jeremy was busy and my son started chatting with Davi, an artist hangin at the front desk.... His pricing was a little less than Jeremy's and the kid does go to a private university $$$ so decided to give Davi a try.. Put down $100 deposit and scheduled for a few days later.. There was a bit of miscommunication between emails and calls between my son and Davi and being the financial part in this I tagged along to the appt. wasn't happy to find out that there was nothing prepared and my son didn't get in a chair and get worked on.. Was there for over an hour trying to seal the deal and get on with things.. Ended up asking for my money back.. Was told no.. Well then.. Told the kid to reschedule and get a damn plan and make this happen or he will be doing yard work and payin mommy back.. I contacted the owner and let him know my frustrations... We were just not clickin with Davi and getting good customer service.. I did not want to come on here and write a negative review and contaminate a well run successful business. The owner Jeremy responded immediately. Did not blow me off or try to make excuses... He explained to me that Davi was having an off day and to give him another chance. This 5 star review is for Saxton and the owner Jeremy. Davi didn't earn that much love from me unfortunately. Married to a Colonel in the military I have high standards of customer service, communication and respect. The situation was handled immediately by the manager and the tattoo appt happened last night and my son is very happy with the job Davi did. Davi was super cool during the 2 hour appt and I am glad we have him a second chance. Everyone has an off day or 2.. I just realized that my lifestyle and the lifestyle of an artist are night and day. The tat was a little pricey for no drawing just words... It was double the price of what I was expecting. On my paperwork it quoted $140 an hour and the job was 1 hour and 40 mins.... After $100 deposit I was prepared to shell out another $180 plus tip.. $350 Apparently the hourly rates do not apply exactly as stated for Davi and the price/quote is subject to change due to the cranky tag along Mom.... Son is happy. I liked seeing him lay down in pain for 2 hours getting tortured by the tat gun.... Worth every overcharged penny... I definitely recommend this shop for tats and especially removal jobs from Saxton.. Just be clear up front and throughout the process so you don't get surprised at the end.. Bottom line... Do your research, get pricing in advance and keep in mind that the $100 is not refundable. read more
