So far my experience has not been great. My doctor is awesome but the fact that they ordered labs and the lab is NEVER open. It's actually ridiculous. It seem like it's only open once a week and you don't find out until you waste your time driving there just to be greeted with yet ANOTHER sign that they are closed the rest of the week. I really like this place. Dr Moultrie and her staff are organized, kind, personable, and CLEAN! Dr Moultrie is extremely thorough! She takes time to listen, answer, explain and even taught me how to do my home exams. I really like that she educates during the appt and that she spoke to each of my concerns. When you schedule your annual physical appt, the schedule is filled for about three months or so, but once you establish care, you can be seen for colds or issues, you don't have to wait for your physical. 24 hour cancellation or $25 charge, they send a reminder text several days prior, and an email which you can use to start online checkin so you can skip that when you get to the office. They take a THOROUGH medication/medical history and update it with you each appt, so you won't have that whole "I told you guys last time I don't take that medicine anymore..." experience here. Getting refills is super easy, never a problem. Their schedule runs on time or very close, there's not a lot of unnecessary waiting in the office, exam room, or lab. This is SO important if you have to get to work! I also like that they're a one stop shop, I can get my labs, my physical, and women's exams all in one place, and they have Peds and OB here as well, if you have (or want) kids. Also, making a regular appt is easy. I've woken up feeling sick, called the office and managed to get a same day appt at least twice in the last year. I don't feel like they schedule your for unnecessary appts for things that can be handled over the phone, just for the $; which I really respect. I've had Drs in the past who wanted to see me for any and every request (even routine refills) just to bill my insurance. None of that kind of monkey business here, thank goodness! These things may all be normal and expected but I've never had the pleasure of having a Drs Office run so smoothly and efficiently, staff be as kind and organized, or an MD who is so thorough! So, I'm singing their praises because those things mean a lot to me. Our health is our life, right? When you find something good you gotta share it!! read more

I have been going to PMG for 10 years and here are my thoughts on their doctors: Dr Debra Reed(Retired): THE BEST OBGYN. She was the nicest most professional Dr. I was so sad when I heard she was retiring but very well deserved! Dr Kaplan: Delivered my baby girl and I had full faith in him throughout the delivery. He took great care of us and made my C section scar look very tiny and can hide it very easily. His staff is the best! Dr Kato: SO BLESSED TO HAVE HIM! He is the best Pediatrician. He took such great care of my baby girl. And after 9 years we still see him and he remembers procedures he performed in my daughter when she was new born. His staff is awesome! Dr Moultri: AVOID AT ALL COST!! When you go see her and mention things that are wrong with you she rolls her eyes like you're asking her for a favor. She makes your health and symptoms feel like they are annoying and non important. When she gave me the results of my pregnancy, I was surprised since I was on birth control so my response was really? And she said you took a home test and we did a blood test here what do you think? So you wanna keep it? Or you need a referral upstairs? Being a first mom this experience was awful. I went back to her again since I really wanted to keep all services in one place and though maybe she was having an off day? Nope!! Where do I begin? I have been trying to get OB care for the past 10+ weeks as I am in my third trimester. I've had two hospital visits in the last month and none of the OBs that accept Pioneer seem to be rushing to see me - they're actually refusing to see me because I'm "too high risk." They suggested setting up a PCP appointment and getting a referral. I found this office, which had decent reviews, so I set up an appointment with Dr. Moultrie. It was not worth the 45+ minute drive and I am in disbelief that she calls herself a doctor. I arrived five minutes before my appointment. I assumed that was fine because I filled out all my registration info online. About 5 minutes after checking in, the nurse comes to get me for my vitals. She's super friendly (and so is the receptionist) so I'm confident I chose a good office. I explain everything to the nurse and why I need a referral for OB care (even though health net does NOT require one, docs are refusing to see me) and how I've been back and forth with offices & insurances. She takes a history & says okay, doctor will be in in a bit. Magically it's 40 minutes past my appointment time when Dr. Moultrie comes in. I knew immediately this was a bad start when she opened the door without a smile & without introducing herself. I watched her video on PIH introducing herself, and from the video I expected a little rigidity but this was uncalled for. I was chastised for not having OB care, and she could care less why. I reiterated to her what I said to the nurse. PIH Whittier doesn't accept Pioneer, PIH Downey says I'm too high risk. First thing she says is my BP is too high. I try to tell her it's been high the last few days because of stress (a hospital visit) and she goes to talk over me. I then continue about my alarming visit, being discharged with no solution or diagnosis, and she goes right over that, not a word about it. She asks about my blood pressure medication, I tell her I was originally on half the dose but after a hospital visit here it was doubled. Up until my mid-2nd trimester my BP ran in the 120s/80s and she immediately snaps "120 is too high for a pregnant person." Uhm??? 120/80 is very normal and that's what I've been told by multiple providers. And it's like she doesn't take external factors into account - it's hot, I'm pregnant so I get dehydrated faster, I'm retaining water and salt (hello 8 months pregnant), I'm nervous/agitated because of the stress of finding a doctor. Nothing. With a 20 minute visit and two higher BP readings (normal ones at home and hospital visit this weekend) she decides to up my medication another 100mg per day. On any given day, my diastolic number drops down into the 60s but she wouldn't know that because she didn't ask about my self-monitoring. I've had BP issues since my teens, I monitor myself regularly for my safety. If I were to add another 100mg per day it would probably go low enough for me to pass out. In that sense, I think increasing the dose after 20 minutes with me was very irresponsible, especially considering she didn't know my full history. Then she excuses herself for 10/15 minutes and comes back with a paper of PIH offices and highlights the Downey office (who I said already refused me) and says "call them yourself and make an appointment today." Yeah uh.... that's why I was there seeing you, they wouldn't accept me. But I accepted at this point it was like talking to a brick wall and I walked out. The ONLY things I felt content with were that she washed her hands in front of me, she listened to my heart and lungs and she checked my legs for swelling (which the doctor at the hospital didn't). So I know she knows what she's doing. But her bedside manner is horrible. I came in agitated and in need of help and neither of those issues were better walking out. It was a shame, I really wanted to like her, the rest of the office staff were great. read more

I don't understand what would be the purpose of making an appointment if I'm going to be waiting for any extra 1 hour and 30 min. My appointment was scheduled at 10 and didn't get attended until I said something to the lady in the "check in " room and that was at 1130. Which means if I hadn't said anything I would have been waiting until 12.... the nurse that attended me was said it was the lady in the checkin that had forgotten to let them know ..... I'm not that kind of person to be complaining about stuff HOWEVER ... we all have things to do .... And Maybe she should do her job "just saying " . read more

After changing insurances, I'm glad I found Pioneer Medical Group as my new healthcare provider group. It is not bad considering the surrounding area where this group is located. I was pretty impressed at my first visit, and I still feel very well taken care of here at Pioneer Medical Group. GOODS: -All of the staff, including receptionists, medical assistants, and phlebotomists, are so friendly and helpful! That can be rare at any physician's office. -Everything is located in one building, making it very convenient -As soon as I finished signing my papers, I was brought in fairly quickly by the medical assistant; little to no wait, and got seen and had lab work done in about less than an hour -Most, if not everything, is done electronically. You register and sign papers on a tablet; they can also receive electronic faxes from your insurance/other physicians, which helps things move along faster -I think there is free wifi -Plenty of seating -Making an appointment was also simple and again, the receptionist on the phone was kind and made sure to check that everything was ready to go before confirming the appointment -The office also promptly called me to let me know of my PCP's message and that my results have been received; that is a huge plus for me because it makes me feel like they are keeping me updated with my records and results, instead of me having to call in every other day NOT-SO-GOOD: -Building is a little bit older, both inside and outside; seems like it's been a while since they've renovated -Checking in and locating the waiting room can be a little confusing at first because they're located in separate rooms; not a big deal though -I saw Dr. Moultrie; her bedside manner could use a little bit of work, but other than that, she is a very knowledgable and efficient physician. She listened to me, and got me everything I needed! Overall, I feel very fortunate to have found and be cared for under this group. I hope many others are able to experience what I did. As long as you do your part as a patient, the staff and physicians will meet you where you are and provide you with the care that you need. read more

Was referred here by my sister in laws whom have taken my nephews here several years now. Last year was my first time bringing my 11 year old for her physical and was happy with the drs visit. Today I visited Dr. Stephen Kato for both my newborn and 11 year old vaccinations. With everything going on in the world right now. I must say this office takes extra precautions from the moment you step in the building. To the moment you leave your drs visit. Dr. Kato is always pleasant to see and conversate with. Very knowledgeable pediatrician and answers all your questions and concerns. I am so glad my daughters come here. Their visit was short and quick, and we were in and out. It's in a sketch area, but there's a security guard on watch. You check-in at the office to your left (if you're coming in from the parking lot. The check in office is to your right if you're coming in from the street). There's a pharmacy in the building on the same side of the check-in office. After check-in they redirect you to the waiting room for your doctor. It's never been too crowded whenever I go, and it's not a scary "doctor's office" atmosphere. A nurse calls you in from the waiting room and gets your height/weight and takes you to your patient room. The nurse records your vital signs and then asks you for the reason of the visit. She leaves then the doctor comes. Dr Moultrie is straight up. She means business, she's honest, goes straight to the point, and doesn't paint a pretty picture for the truth (which is probably why another Yelper said she has bad bedside manners). I appreciate it. Doctors are supposed to be honest, nurses are the ones that are usually more well acquainted with the patients anyway. There was one time that my primary doctor wasn't there so there was a different doctor to see me in her place. He was just as honest. He asked me if I smoked and I said sometimes and he cornered me in conversation and basically told me every reason that smoking=bad. It was like that Mean Girls health class scene ("don't have sex because you will get pregnant and die") except with smoking. It's his job and it's appreciated. read more

I found Pioneer Medical Group on Yelp and decided to call and make an appointment for my daughter's 2 year wellness checkup. Over the phone I told the receptionist that I would be an all cash paying patient and that my 2 year old would be having a wellness checkup. The receptionist gave me an estimated cost of my visit and instructed me to come early to fill paperwork for new patients. I was scheduled an appointment with Dr. Stephen Kato which I was informed was the only pediatrician that she can be seen with. On the day of the appointment I was welcomed by a very friendly receptionist who instructed me to sign in and began the admission process. After I filled the admission questions I was given a Packet as a new member. While waiting to be seen, a nurse came and asked if my daughter's vaccination was up to date. I showed the nurse a copy of my daughter's vaccinations and stated that they weren't up to date yet. She asked if I wanted to have all her vaccinations done today? I agreed and said that would be fine. She then further informed me that the cost would be a minimum of at least $200 for her vaccinations and the Health Department offered free vaccinations for children if I was interested. I was grateful for the information volunteered by the nurse and told her that I would like to seek information about the free vaccinations first then. She then left the room. I continued to wait to be seen about 10 more minutes and the receptionist looked surprised that I was still there waiting and asked if I still wanted to be seen? I told her, "Yes, I still want my daughter to have her 2 year wellness check up that she was scheduled for." The receptionist then responded, "but you said you didn't want the vaccinations today." I then replied back, "No, I do not. But I would still like my daughter to be seen as scheduled." The receptionist called the nurse and I was then informed that Dr. Stephen Kato would not see my daughter because she was not having her vaccinations done at the facility here. I was puzzled and told the receptionist that I have never heard of this. The receptionist then apologized and said it is the Doctor's own policy that he won't see patients unless they get their vaccinations done here too. I was very frustrated because I am a mother who works night shift and attends school full time. My daughter's health is priority and I had the impression by making this appointment for her Wellness checkup she would get the preventative care she needed. It is very disappointing that my daughter would not be seen simply because I decided not to have her vaccinated during that time. Unfortunately, I had three families looking for a new practitioner and was awaiting my experience so that I could refer them. This misfortune prevents me from referring these families to this practice. read more

I haven't had a regular primary care physician for a while because I've had issues finding one that I felt covered everything but she was very thorough. Can I give PMG zero stars? Staff doesn't care. You think you meet a physician that might not be hungry like Doshi (who works out of the Cerritos office), but then you're still disappointed. Dr. Parks-you ordered cultures for my mom and then failed to follow up after repeated phone calls. Then someone in your office calls to say my phone is busy and that I need to follow up with the pcp. Um, the pcp didn't order the culture; your stupid ass did. You'll be left on hold forever. You'll get screamed at by an unclassy "Nurse." PMG...where the worst take care of your loved ones. read more

I hate to write this review, but I feel I have no choice. I have been a patient here for almost 15 years. Dr. Patel is a wonderful doctor and this complaint is not about him. What I have to say is how hard it is to get someone to answer the phone! I have been trying to reach the office several times every day from 1/6 - 1/8 and only get an automated answering line that no one ever answers! I've tried many times and waited anywhere from 7 to 10 mins each time to no avail. My mom and my spouse have even tried for me and received no answer. So how are the patients supposed to make an appt or speak to their doctors if PIH customer service is so bad. Come on, guys, I've been going here for almost 15 years, you can do better than this!! I've been seen by other doctors, nurses, P.A. and did not have the best experience. Ms. Reed makes you feel comfortable during your woman's exam and promptly responds to any questions. Whether by telephone or email, she will personally respond and keep you updated with results. If you have an issue, she will listen, unlike the others that make it seem like you're making stuff up in your head. I wish there were more people like her in the medical field. This review has been a long time coming. Every time I have called I have spoken with Mike who has either made appointments for me or has taken messages to send the medical assistant. His customer service is exceptional. Super professional very friendly. I truly appreciate that. Working in a medical office myself I always appreciate when I get the service I've given to former patients. Dr. Vinod Patel is wonderful. He really listens and is extremely calm and friendly. I've only seen him twice and both times I was impressed. His medical assistant Ana is very nice as well went out of her way to call me a couple times one day just to confirm and assure me a referral went through. Again good customer service!! read more

Nurse practitioner Cynthia antonio is very rude & refused to do my annual female exam I hv done it faithfully over the last 30yrs there until my wonderful dr retired & on the ball nurse moved on she would not listen to me explain I'm older & hv been on hormones for the last 5 or 6 yrs so I really need it she said new rules & studies say we can't get a pap yearly i I could feel my blood pressure rising because she's so arrogant & rude I told her I would pay for the exam out of pocket she just simply didn't want to do it I should hv reported her because this was last yr if I find out anything wrong this physical I'm reporting her 4 sure please don't trust your health to this person not even worth 1 star read more

Dr Deborah Jordan reed has been my gynecologist for over 10 years. She has seen me before and after my children and has been there through it all with me, when my iud fell out, I called in very scared and I got in to see her within 1 hour. She is smart, caring and the way I want all of my doctors to be. All about the patient and craft. She is the best doctor in town.. if not the country! Thank you Dr Reed for being amazing!! read more

Deborah Jordan-Reed is amazing at what she does. I had my Nexplanon implant removed with no issues at all. I was so nervous going in l but she's so good at keeping you relaxed by talking to you the whole time and has great bed side manner, she even brought me a blanket since I was freezing. my procedure was so smooth, done within 10 minutes. This review is for Dr. Moultrie only. I love her practice and care. When she first comes in, she greets you and washes her hands in front of you. Many clinicians stress hand hygiene and she puts it into action by physically showing you that she follows evidence based practiced care. She does like to catch up on what you've been up to, but goes straight into why you're here. She's a no nonsense, sharp and practical MD. She fully listens to your symptoms and begins her own physical assessments and gives you her diagnosis. This is exactly how I want my visits to go. I came here for one year and had nothing but good experiences. I saw Ms. Cariaga and Dr. Baskin and both knew their stuff and addressed my concerns. The front desk is kind and receptive. Everything seems to be organized and well run. My insurance company made an error in billing and the financial dept addressed it immediately. I absolutely LOVE this medical group. Especially this location!!! I have been going here for about 2 years now. I have been seeing Dr. Kaplan OB/GYN. He is an AMAZING doctor! I have never been treated so kindly by a doctor and all the staff. The nurses are just great. I have never been treated rude or like im being rushed out of there. And if you show up on time for your appointment they actually get you in right away. I have had 2 children in the past 2 years and Dr. Kaplan has treated me through both those pregnancies. Deborah Jordan-Reed is the best. I've had several medical visits with her; she is as caring, considerate, thorough and patient as a provider can be. Her bedside manner is wonderful. During our time, she made small talk about my family, distracting me from what was happening, but at the same time, she let me know what she was doing and how much longer it would take. She definitely has a way of making you feel comforted, comfortable and cared for. Deborah continually checked in with me to see if I was doing okay. All the while, she had such a gentle touch and was as natural and caring as a family member; she's the epitome of how you'd want a medical provider to be for yourself or any of your loved ones. She cares and is a true professional, and it shows in every way. She exceeded expectations in every way! Deborah truly cares about her patients and has a great heart.
