It is a donated property, and there is signage about where the house and such used to be located. Now, it is open to the public and has three trails to explore. When you first turn in, there is a small gravel parking area, but you can drive up the former driveway to a larger parking area that puts you in closer proximity to the trailheads. The Arch Loop trail featured a natural arch, as suggested by its name, which is also visible from an overlook near the kiosk. It's well worth going on the trail, however, as it takes you down near the Rocky Fork Creek, and into a field of glorious wildflowers in whites, purples, scarlet, yellows, and more. There are slump blocks to be seen too. Both the Falls Trail and the Tuliptree Trail, are also appropriately named. The Falls Trail offers geological features, as well as small waterfalls, while the Tuliptree Trail is surrounded by, you guessed it, many tuliptrees! There are some benches in strategic places too. Very pretty area with plenty of neat things to see!

Plenty of hiking / walking trails. The pool is not heated and we were there early in the season so it was still too cold for us. The hot tub was great, but could use a little TLC. It is plenty big (made by the residents themselves!). I had to rewrite the brakes in our trailer while there and not one person complained, in fact one of the residents lent me some tools! It's a little rustic and could use an infusion of money to improve the maintenance; however all-in-all a great place. Check out the nearby Serpent Mound park! We will definitely stay there again!

Located just outside of Lucasville, the rest area serves both North bound and South bound traffic. It has full restroom facilities, including a family restroom, and a nice lobby with map and regional brochures and advertisements. The Rest Area has a picnic areas, vending machines, and can accommodate cars, trucks, and commerical trucks. It's also a great "pet stop" if are traveling with a pet.

Experience the rustic lodge and Amish country appeal. Listen to horse hooves clapping along the highway pavement as you approach the long gravel drive and see an Amish man conducting a horse-drawn carriage. Enter the main house through the welcoming squeaks of a screen door and the aromas of home cooking. Sit down to dinner and meet the chef in person, who will proudly (and rightfully) proclaim, "Best pork chop you've ever had, or it's free!" He was right. As enticing as it was to have the pork chop for every meal, we delved into the remainder of the menu; Fried chicken was juicy, tender, crispy, and dark golden brown. Black bean soup was simple with garlic, onion, and pepper. Needed a bit of salt, but it was really delicious, even if under-seasoned. The menu was full of delicious Heartland food for the soul. Top off your night with a tipsy cider (hot apple cider with caramel vodka: genius) by the fire, where you'll meet other travelers and watch the moon light up the sky. When morning breaks, treat yourself to a stroll amongst the wooded trails that stretch for just under five miles. In the fall, the colors are absolutely breathtaking. There's nothing like a good, warm breakfast after a brisk walk...and once again, the chef did not disappoint. He even heated my steak from the night before so that I could enjoy steak and eggs. My only criticism of Murphin Ridge Inn was the beds; exquisitely uncomfortable and bouncier than a hop-along ball. Unless you love hard beds and plan to sleep alone, be prepared to be startled awake by every move your partner makes, and the probability of waking up stiff and sore is pretty high. The fact that we had a fireplace with a sleep timer in the middle of the room almost made us forget about the discomfort of the mattress, though. I'd still return to Murphin Ridge Inn for the atmosphere, food, friendly service, and relaxation, but I'd come prepared next time with a comfy mattress pad and maybe a cot.
