Sure, this location is big, but I wasn't impressed. Service wasn't all that helpful. For friendly, knowledgeable service, I like Lowe's and Home Depot. I was also not all that impressed with the flowers selection here, either. When I was there, I saw lots of rotting flowers! The plants I got at Lowe's lasted much longer. I just don't get the high reviews here. Overpriced for the quality. read more

The staff is knowledgeable. Plant selection is worth the trip. The quality is average on a good many bedding plants, some came in spring 2021 with very weak root systems. The containerized plants are above average as far as health. The prices are phenomenally outrageous. $6 and $9 for a 4" plant is highway robbery, and we should all refuse to pay a markup of 1000% on a plant that costs maybe $1.50 to put on display. The other costs go to knowledgable staff which I am willing to pay for, but NOT for obscene profit margins. I work way too hard for my money, and if the minimum wage earning staff at the growers who supply Pike with their product only knew how much money was being made off of their back breaking efforts, they might actually get paid what they are worth. read more

So I have to admit that I was a little intimidated coming here today. Last time I tried to get a plant potted here was Mother's Day 2015 and it was packed. Given that I am a plant newbie, the idea of another crowded experience made me dread coming. Thankfully it was very quiet this morning when I went. I had two plants I wanted to get potted. So John at the store helped me find the appropriate plants. Though one of the ones I wanted was already sold, he referred me to another choice which worked. He hold me that one of the planters would contact me regarding when it would be completed. Within an hour, I got a call from Steve who was one of the planters and I think he is also the owner. He mentioned that one of the pots would not work and suggested some other options. Then I returned with another pot which was smaller and thus decided on a smaller plant. When I returned to pick up the plants, I did not like the larger plant potted because it was crooked and would be difficult to straighten out. Steve graciously offered to pot another plant for me right then and it worked. Yeah! Everyone working there that day was also nice and helpful in general. read more

So I have had two good experiences and 1 bad. First the bad: Basically the person at the register was rude and couldn't care less. Really got me angry. Next the good: The manger there was super helpful in helping me find a few plants and a planter. Another time one girl was very knowledgeable about bonzai's so i bought one! I love it :) She was super nice, helpful and friendly. Great for a local nursery in general. read more

Went to Pike for a Christmas tree this year. They had good trees that were placed in stands so that you could see them rather than having them laying in a pile. Prices were great. Got a 7 foot tree for $35. The reason they're only getting 3 stars is because of the tree pick up situation. After purchasing, I was instructed to come around back to pick up the tree, so that's what I did. I waited in the tree pickup line 45 min with very little movement. After being there that long, I saw 3 people leave with trees, and there were about 6 cars ahead of me still. Some people started getting out of their cars to get their trees and they were coming back in under 5 min with tree in tow. So I decided that must be the best way and took my car out of line, parked, and walked up for the tree. I walked up with my ticket and waited until one of the Pike staff came up. The man seemed to be the guy in charge. He immediately told me I needed to move because I was in the way though I was standing off to the side. I let him know I just needed to grab my tree. He tells me that I need to get back in my car and get back in line. I let him know that I didn't need it roped and was just going to carry it out and put it in my car. Plus I had already parked. After a bit more back and forth, the man finally let me take my tree, but was rude to me the entire time. He snatched my ticket from me and literally threw the tree at me and said "Here!". The guy was unnecessarily rude and wasted more time telling me to get back in my car than it took to grab the tree. read more

My husband and I walked into Pikes around 5:45 PM on Thursday with an idea of what we wanted to do on three different beds on the front of our house. Casey initially approached us asking what we were looking to do to which he called a gentleman by the name of Art over to help us. Art was extremely helpful. He was very knowledgeable in helping us pick plants with different sun and shade tolerance and rough design while being conscious of overall price point we were trying to stay under. He spent a good 45 minutes with us (up until 630PM when they close!) helping guide us AND set everything aside for us to hold until Saturday's 20% off sale. Not to mention at the end, he and Casey helped pick mulch as well as pre emergent and ensured us they would add the planting soil needed to mix into the beds when we planted. Excellent service overall. Extremely knowledgeable. And more than willing to spend the time with us even up until they were supposed to close! PS... their Christmas tree service is phenomenal too! They really have a neighborhood feel are so helpful and truly care about your projects! Oh AND if you join their free garden club, your plants/shrubs are guaranteed for life. We love coming here and are so appreciative of the service every time but particularly tonight- thanks so much Art and Casey! read more

Will not be patronizing Pike Nursery anymore after today. Had a $20 off coupon. Bought $51.12 worth of plants. The idiot at the cash register didn't give me the discount. When I asked why, she called another cashier over and that person backed out the original transaction and did the same thing over again. When I got home,I realized that I still had not gotten my discount despite the fact that they kept the discount card. Went back to the store and talked to the manager who said I had gotten the discount. Not true. I have checked my bank statement and I was charged the total of 51.12 instead of $31.12. What kind of a racket is this? read more

In the midst of refining my black thumb I found a love for Pike Nurseries. I have a true love for growing things and want so badly to be a good plant mom. Being close in proximity, I frequent this location and can honestly say I have that warm, fuzzy feeling when I think of my experience. Not only is the store well kept with a wide selection of inspiring greenery for plant lovers alike, the staff is overwhelmingly kind and knowledgable. Confessions of a garden store junkie -- I visit Pike and Home Depot at least once a week, and I'll drive to Lowes and Hastings too. This review has been a real struggle to write since Atlanta natives always refer to "Pikes", not "Pike"! Strengths: ** Pike's customer service is up there with Hastings as the best in town. If you need to find a particular pest control product (they have a ton of options, organic and traditional) or help picking out the hardiest perennials, Pike's team is happy to help and knowledgeable. They'll also help you pick out an attractie assortment of plants that avoids my perpetual issue -- schitzo garden effect. ** Selection is great. Pike has a consistent, varied, and dynamic selection of plants. They consistently have more options and more varieties than any other store in town (except Lowes for a few weeks in the early Spring). Pike has a great herb/veggie selection, as well as perennials, ground covers, annuals, trees, shrubs, vines, bulbs, hard goods, you name it. The selection does not turn over as frequently as the big box stores, who tend to have fewer plants but change them out at least once per week. ** In stock status is great. Pike always looks put together, neat, and organized. The plants are in good condition. ** Facility is the best in Atlanta. Most areas are covered so rain or burning heat aren't issues, unlike Hastings, which I always seem to end up visiting while it's raining. ** Pike's has landscape design services, which I haven't used. There is a discount on plants when using the services. ** Pike has occasional sales, but I haven't found them to be exceptional. You can check out their weekly flier online at http://www.pikenursery.com/specials.html. They also have a reward program, but it's nominal and doesn't make up for the higher prices (below). Weaknesses: ** Pricing at Pike is higher than the big box stores. They're much closer for small containers, but for pots 1 gallon or larger, Pike will often be $8-$10 more for comparable plants. ** Return policy. For some reason, Home Depot and Lowes will take back any dead plant within something like 6 months for a refund, and without a receipt they'll take it back any time. I witnessed a lady return six pots with only dead leaves in them for a full credit with no receipt at the Home Depot. Wow! Basically, buying plants at the big box stores is risk free. Pike only has a 2-3 day return policy, and they require plants to be in sale-able condition. While the Pike policy is completely reasonable, the big box policy is awesome for consumers. Hope this helps! Pike at Lindbergh is definitely worth a visit for garden aficionados, especially if you'd like to talk to a knowledgeable sales associate. Happy gardening. read more

This locations seems to be understaffed and it is always hard to find someone to help. For Christmas trees the situation is even worse. They have the trees out for you to look at but then you have to wander around to find someone to tear the ticket and take the tree. The tree pickup is the worst I have ever seen. You will wait in line for hours wrapped around the parking lot blocking everyone else in their spot. After waiting in line for about 45 mins and seeing employees bring trees to peoples cars in the parking lot I got out of line, parked, and walked around to get my tree. I was rudely told several times that I had to get in line and people had been waiting. I explained that I too had been waiting and just wanted to take my tree myself. A guy grabbed it and I told him I could carry it and he said no. He walked it to my car, threw it on the ground next to my car and walked away. They only had 3 people loading Christmas trees. There are much better options to get trees. Next year I will choose another place read more

I really love going to Pike Nurseries for the selection and quality over the other nurseries nearby even though they are definitely on the pricier side. The staff have always been super knowledgeable, friendly, and on top of it- they know now that my green thumb is less than vibrant and are willing to help me determine why I'm struggling with my impending gardening before I jack it up. Pikes is my top day to day place for getting plants and just general plant-lusting. I love this Pikes. I like all of them, but this one is just the one that makes me happiest. (Being fairly close to me doesn't hurt of course.) Nice layout, excellent stuff, and some very knowledgeable staff - especially the flower gal (Catherine?) with the salt and pepper hair. She's been able to point me to all sorts of specific plants I've asked about, and also been very good about quickly knowing when Pikes just doesn't carry something (like Carolina sweet shrub.) I rarely go to Lowes or HD for actual plants - they have a lot, but a very limited, big box selection. Pikes has a much great range of stuff, and they try to buy from responsible growers. I've always been confident I'm getting healthy plants, grown by producers that do their best to limit their use of heavy chemicals. Its a small perk, but the coffee machine really is nice too. I always stop for a little - makes me happy, and I have no doubt it helps the owners' bottom line since it keeps me coming back. read more

I called this location to inquire and possibly schedule services. I was passed off and given a number to what I believe was a 3rd party. At any rate, no one ever answers the phone, you go straight to a voice mail system to leave a message. They take 2-3 days to even bother to return the call and if by chance you miss the call, forget about it. I missed the return call, the person Jacqueline left a message and her email (like why would I email her when I never even had a conversation to warrant an email?). Despite me calling right back, no one answered or bothered to call back that day or the next. Ridiculous, how can you possibly do business that way? This company was first on my list but they won't get one dime from me now and I'm glad I got to see this before I ever did business with them. I can't imagine how they treat you AFTER they "have" you. I dodged a bullet. read more

Pike is my go to garden shop. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly, and helped me pick out plants that could thrive at my work where there are no windows. How would you expect to be treated by a company if you were about to drop over $10,000.00 for products? Here is how I was treated by this location. I was turned away at the door ten minutes before closing. Then to top it off I left my car in a parking spot on the other end of the lot as far away from the building as I could get it and they toe it away. Now mind you there are 5 other cars parked right next to the building but they are not toed. Do I still want to spend $10,000.00 on plants with this company? Hell no. I will go to Home Depot where my property is respected and they understand customer service. I urge you to never use a pikes nursery for anything. There are so many other companies out there that are willing to go the extra mile in customer service. You would be foolish to settle for less. I was and ended up paying the price in time and unessacary costs for the towing company. read more

For years I avoided this place because of the cranky staff (I prefer Lowe's and used to shop a lot at Hastings until their store closing). In 2016, my husband and I saw a Pike ad for butterfly bushes and decided to get some. We were pleased to find, for a change, a friendly Pike employee BUT he told us (a) the plants would live through the winter and (b) let them dry out completely before watering. He was wrong on both counts. But this spring I decided to return to Pike, this time for more butterfly bushes, plus a slew of herbs and impatiens. The impatiens stopped blooming 2 weeks after I purchased them and the English thyme shriveled and died within 3 weeks of purchase. I've been growing impatiens and thyme (as well as other herbs) for decades without any problems. Though I had my receipt, the manager refused to replace the plants or refund my money but she did sharply and loudly told me off in front of employees and customers. I told her, equally loudly, how much I prefer Lowe's. Oh, and her stupid butterfly plants gave me a rash! read more
