What a depressing dark, humid and stuffy studio. The class studios are located in a dark underground basement area, there's no fresh air and no AC. Classes are stuffy, warm and it's hard to breathe. Especially concerning Covid. There's very little ventilation and even the teachers are frustrated with the sweltering heat. One of the studios is tiny, reformers are shoved right next to each other and you are guaranteed to bump into a classmate. The sound is also an issue, there's no separation from the upstairs studio, so you hear a constant stream of music and instructions from upstairs and from the adjacent studio. The basement has no sound insulation and it's often hard to hear the instructions because the music is blaring so loudly. Teachers are hit or miss, the teachers seemed to be very burned out, lots of basic repetitive boring classes not very innovative or challenging for a studio that advertises to be advanced. Lots of novices sign up for advanced classes, often creating an issue of safety because they do not have the skills and jeopardize others because they are wobbling around and are at risk of falling. Students aren't vetted to ensure that they are taking classes to their ability. Dark, dank, stuffy, noisy, cramped, so so classes-cannot recommend this place. read more

I'm currently recovering from a stress fracture injury from running. Something I never thought I'd be grateful for. But without my injury I may never have gone to Pilatesmith, which has changed my outlook on exercise! I've been going for about two weeks and Jessica, Talia, and the rest of the staff couldn't be more helpful or accommodating. As a bit of a cardio-junkie, I've been surprised at how much of a full body workout I've been getting, I can already see changes in my body! The studio is spotless and the small class environment allows for helpful hands on attention for form. Not only has my experience helped me during a time when I need a low-impact option for exercise, the classes and results I'm already feeling have convinced me to incorporate Pilatesmith into my weekly exercise approach post-injury. The studio has a very cool industrial, urban feel and the staff are so warm and welcoming right away. Nice people. They know what they're doing but once you taken a couple private sessions, they are reluctant to let you move to a group session. The cost difference is staggering. I'm disappointed they discouraged me from trying the group. I have been doing Pilates for over 2 years taking a group class in another state so I knew my stuff and performed beautifully with slight modifications for knee surgeries. I didn't want to believe it was age discrimination so it must have been all about the money. Too bad. read more

I just took my first class with Pilatesmith after a long break in exercise during pregnancy and postpartum and I had so much fun! The studio is clean and nicely arranged. The studio staff is welcoming and friendly: they gave me an overview of the place and offered me complimentary pilates socks for rent for my first practice. I had a group class on the reformer machines and I was a bit worried I'd get confused with the details of what to do and would get behind the group. The trainer was very knowledgeable and kind, she provided us with clear instructions just at the right pace, and was very attentive to details, so I could perform the entire practice just right. It was also a great group of women in the class, super down to earth, an excellent workout, and the most fun I've had in a Pilates class in a long time! My body felt amazing after the workout - neither sore nor overwhelmed - just well-aligned and so much stronger. I highly recommend this to anyone that loves to move their body and wants to get the full power of their body. read more

This studio is gorgeous, I love the industrial design. What's better is that it is never crowded. I took private lessons instead of classes since I was recovering from an injury. I got assigned a different teacher for each of my 8 sessions and all of them were friendly and very professional. I got caring instructors who really rehabilitated my injuries while I got a good workout and a heavenly stretch. I would highly recommend this friendly studio. read more

I tried Pilates for the first the first time at Pilatesmith and the experience was outstanding. I walked in to inquire as I live nearby and Jessica helped me get set up. The studio was very inviting, clean and modern. The registration system was very user friendly. As a newcomer I opted to do a private workout with Sequoia who was very nice and patient and led me through a great full body workout. I love going to prenatal pilates classes at pilatesmith. It is a really fun workout! I'm someone that likes to do a lot of exercise when I am pregnant. These classes help me to isolate and exercise muscles that may otherwise get ignored. In my last pregnancy I mostly did yoga and hiking, but in this pregnancy I am preferring pilates over yoga. And this is a huge surprise to me because I have so much more yoga experience than I do with pilates. The studio is a peaceful neighborhood vibe. The teachers are down to earth and caring. This studio is so beautiful! There is a private room upstairs and group class room downstairs. I love it that this studio has reformers, chairs and TRX for each person so there are so many variations of exercises you can do in one class! I took my first class there and I loved it! I never get to use the chair in classes that I take so it was a nice addition! I haven't used TRX yet, so looking forward to taking more classes there and explore more workouts! read more

I loved the class! I'm a fellow wellness business owner and came in a day early before a weekend with friends. I've been doing reformer pilates for over 3 years. I would say I'm advanced, but not any pro and still look horrible sometimes! But I still was skeptical to try just any studio. I read reviews, found an open class that was advanced, and was able to walk there. Also, since I'm vaccinated was able to remove my mask! I loved the flow of class and found it challenging, but approachable. The instructor was great with modifications and being in the garage was fine considering the great weather! I'm so glad that will change this upcoming week for California. Also, there were some moves that were new to me and I loved them. Its hard to show me new moves after all these years. I love Pilatesmith! I haven't found a teacher on the team that I don't like. Everyone is friendly, motivating, and the classes are small so I always feel like I'm getting enough attention. No matter your skill level you will get a great workout because the teachers give helpful corrections but they also offer challenge options for most moves if you're looking to kick your workout up a notch. I also love that they offer both early morning and evening classes to accommodate my work schedule. It takes a lot to motivate me for a 6am workout class, but I've been consistently getting up before the sun just about every Tuesday for a year, and when I do miss a class I feel as if my day just isn't complete. read more
