Amazing studio and class! I just took Ky's tempo class. Wow!!!! Hardest Pilates class I have ever taken! She used TRX bands, stability ball, weights and of course, the Pilates machine. Took a private Pilates class with Sequoia. She is very friendly and fluent in reformer movement, including for postnatal women. I enjoyed my session a lot but of the five studios I tested out, it was the second most expensive and farthest from my home. The private space didn't feel very private either, so that's why I'm giving it four stars. The staff was very friendly both before I arrived and the day of my session. The receptionist gave me a tour of the rest of the studio, which is gorgeous, and followed up with me with package specials. Overall, it's a great studio, and I'd go back to try their pre-/postnatal classes, but it just was not the right one for me for private classes. read more

Find another studio. The front desk team is sweet but the owner is a nightmare--total spiritual bypass. This place is losing it's best teachers, cancelling classes last minute, and refusing to refund customers. There are plenty of other great studios to choose from. read more

Absolutely horrible experience at Pilatesmith. Pushy sales after the first class led me to sign the contract without fully reading it (yes, my fault) as the front desk employee was distracting, kind of glossing over the details saying "you can just read it when you get home...", "if you ask our owner nicely you can get freeze fees waived", etc. I had two months there - probably had 5 different instructors - half were cold, didn't even introduce themselves or ask about injuries, and hardly did adjustments. My favorite instructor was AMAZING - Ashley. But she went down to once a week and no one else compared to her. Suddenly I've gone into financial difficulties so I froze my membership for a month (they were kind and waived the $15 freeze fee for me) but I then tried to give 30 days notice to terminate my membership (which costs $30). I hadn't realized that according to their policy the two cannot overlap. So, I gave it a month hoping I could get funds but I just cannot spend $215 on fitness right now. I reached back out to Pilatesmith and asked if they could please make an exception as I'm in a really dire state financially but they informed me there is absolutely no way to terminate without the 30 day notice, I MUST pay in full for another month before termination. They offered to extend my freeze another month but that's very unhelpful as I need to be saving for more urgent needs. Anyway, I'm not a big reviewer and it's pretty embarrassing to be blasting this, but I am absolutely outraged by the horrible customer service and lack of any empathy at Pilatesmith. I understand businesses were hit hard during the pandemic but so were individuals and I would expect a little more understanding from a local, female owned business. I'm super disappointed. 10/10 not recommended. read more

Pilatesmith gave such a great workout. I have been taking contemporary pilates/ LaGree for a little over a year and their control pilates class was great - you really feel the burn. Instructors also give great cues on form rather than just rushing through the movements as I've experienced in other pilates classes. Definitely recommend this class to feel the burn! read more

I have been practicing Pilates for about 8 years now and this is my all time favorite studio!! The teachers are really strong and classes are challenging. I feel like a million bucks after each workout. The environment is positive, people are friendly (not snooty) equipment is in great shape, the owner is amazing (Jessica). I had SUCH an incredible time at my first Pilatesmith class! My friend has been going to the studio for awhile now and I finally decided to give it a try, which I'm so glad I did... ATMOSPHERE - inviting, modern, stylish, clean (loved the layout / wallpaper) AMBIANCE - serene and strong. Good music! INSTRUCTOR(s) - Olivia was attentive, uplifting, and friendly (the pace we went at was great, loved her timing for leading us). The staff that I met when checking in was also kind and helpful (they gave me a little towel to use during the workout). CLASS - Advanced Cardio was challenging but manageable! I definitely felt the burn but was still motivated to push through COST - my first class was $15 which was a great deal! The only thing I was partially unprepared for was bringing Pilates Socks, but they had some for me to use on my first day. Overall, I loved the experience and it made me feel like a Pilates Princess! read more

Best new addition to Main Street! I love coming here. The studio is beautiful. Every attention to detail has been met. Not only with the design of the space, but the function of the classes. Upstairs are where privates and duos are held, and down stairs is where the main classes are. There are also lockers for your belongings. I haven't had an instructor that I didn't like. Classes are challenging but are held in a fun supportive atmosphere. I try to come everyday and feel like I am getting stronger and improving each time. read more

She implied I couldn't afford it?? I had just explained I had a baby... so no, I am not cancelling because I am in the wrong pricing tier. Pilatesmith is an incredible pilates studio in Santa Monica on Main St. I have been going since it first opened and love it more and more every time I go. The first time I went, I met the owner Jessica and told her I had never done pilates before. As it was my first visit I thought the instructor might introduce herself and ask me if I knew how to use equipment, which she didn't (and I didn't entirely), but I figured things out and it all went fine. Went to my first class (novice), i have been on a reformer before and this class was challenging but well paced. Emily was excellent at giving direction on proper posture and answering questions. I have heard from friends and others that all of the instructors are equally amazing. The staff was incredibly helpful and the space is inviting, calming and clean.
