When we finally got the owners on the phone, it was about 2:30, and they showed up at 2:40. Our room was on the small size, and to my chagrin, when I tried to take a shower the next morning, I found that I could not get into the stall. Now, I'm heavy, but I'm not so fat that the fire department would have to cut a hole in a wall to get me out. The problem is that the door to the shower opens in rather than out. Even my friend, who hasn't got an extra ounce of fat on him, found it a tight fit. On the positive, as I said above, the owners are very nice. The house is beautiful, and the breakfast the next morning was superb--they don't just leave cold cereal out for guests. Manayunk Gem. What a find! My wife and I were in Philly…read morevisiting our grandchildren for the day. My son surprised us with an overnight stay in this really beautiful B&B. We were going to crash at his house, but he and his wife are looking to buy a house in Manayunk, and wanted our opinion of the town, so they said " we got you a B&B, go explore" and I am so glad we did, as we love going to places we have never been to. My wife went to check in, and I stayed in the car, as I wanted to go look at the town and get some food as we had been on the road for 4 hours. As I sat in the car, I got a surprise of a knock on my window, and it was Mark, one of the owners, who wanted to come introduce himself. I thought that was awesome. He is extremely friendly, and we had a nice chat about the history of the B&B, and the town in general. Mark recommended a couple of great places to eat. We stayed in the English Garden Suite. First and foremost the room was CLEAN! The room was decorated exactly how I expected it to be, fun wallpaper, big king size bed, with big pillows & high ceilings. Mark was kind enough to have the A/C on, as I had called to say we would be there about 2:30, and it was about 95 degrees that day. There was a vintage couch and chair in the room (pics) There was no TV in the room ( Thank God ). The room is perfect for 2 people who haven't over-packed. What the room lacks in size is made up with a huge parlor (pics) downstairs, and a nice sized outdoor porch. In the parlor there is complimentary water, seltzer,coffee, tea, beer and wine! They also had fresh fruit , and candy dishes filled with fun candy, so my wife and I stayed down there for a while listening to the perfectly picked out music playing. The B&B is walking distance to the town, and it's a really fun town to walk around and be a tourist in. There are coffee shops, bars, restaurants, clothing stores, antique stores, (you must check out Jinxed Variety), and an Insomnia cookie shop, and furniture stores. The town even has a vegan bakery, Crust ( we took home some delicious poptarts! ). This B&B is also walking distance to Pretzel Park (look it up). Manayunk is a unique town, lots of hills, pockets of fun areas. I will say the parking can be challenging, but Mark went out of his way to help us...there is street parking, during the day ( pay ), and there is a parking lot that you can stay as long as you want, but you pay by the hour. I believe after 8:00 street parking on Main Street is free. Don't let the parking scare you from coming to this awesome B&B, or this cool town. My biggest regret was that we had to miss breakfast, as we were going antiquing in CT, and well you know how I-95 is. But i am sure you can see from other pictures, and reviews, the breakfast is a real treat here. I look forward to coming back to Manayunk Chambers Guest House, and this fun little town!

Cozy, friendly and within decent range of my destinations. Parking was easy as they have a small lot at the back of the building. Breakfast was delicious and the coffee was great. My room was on the 3rd floor, so beware if you are bring a lot of luggage as there are no elevators (not that I was expecting any). I reserved this room as I wanted the fireplace. My only caveat: If you plan on using the fireplace, it is gas, and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get it on the first night. I asked the next morning and didn't realize I had to ask for the pilot light to be lit. It was early October and it had just gotten cool out. The hosts were so accommodating! There is a small pantry area where there is a fridge for common use if needed with bottled water and coffee/tea available. (Keurig and Kcups). This was my first time booking a B&B and it was the perfect experience. My only SLIGHT disappointment was that the Wi-Fi left a little to be desired. It was sometimes spotty, but still got me through. I would most definitely recommend it and if I am in the Philly area, would book it again in a heartbeat!

Awesome hotel in a great location. We chose this hotel because we wanted to be close to…read morePhiladelphia but not directly in the city. This location was perfect. It is only about 20 minutes outside of Center City Philly, but feels a world away. Tucked away in a quiet location near a windy road surrounded on both sides with green trees everywhere. The hotel sits right on the Schuylkill River and the parking lot has an industrial look with old steel beams above it and an old railroad track near the hotel. There is also the Pencoyd Bridge which allows you to walk across the river and the Cynwyd Heritage Trail which is a roughly 2-mile trail along the river. Really beautiful setting. The interior of the hotel is nice, modern, and clean. The room was great with a full kitchen and the high ceilings (11-foot?) made the room feel very open and spacious. The beds were comfortable as well. There are two restaurants directly on the hotel premises. Lark and The Landing Kitchen (TLK). We did not try Lark but we ordered food from TLK twice. They have a small menu, but offer enough variety. The TLK burger was one of the best burgers I have had. The smoked turkey hoagie was solid. I would have liked to try the breakfast burrito but that will have to wait until next time. The hotel offers free breakfast from 6:00 - 9:00 a.m. and it was actually a very good breakfast. All your standard options like bagels, muffins, fruit, breakfast potatoes, eggs, bacon, coffee and juices. They also have waffle makers; the kind where you pour the batter in yourself. There are only two things that prevented this review from being a 5/5 star rating. The shower is very roomy but only half of the shower has glass, the other half is wide open. This made the water from the shower pool on the floor right outside of the shower where there is no glass. Not a huge deal, I just put a towel down. The other thing is that room service came into our room and emptied our trash cans but didn't do anything else. They did not restock the toilet paper, did not make the beds, did not provide clean towels, did not do anything else besides empty the trash cans in the room, which I thought was kind of weird. With that said, we loved our stay and it was the perfect location. We would like to go back and visit again soon.

Great visit to the Residence Inn at Bala Cydwyn for a mini Philadelphia getaway…read more While looking at various hotels in the Philadelphia area, including the downtown area, I saw there were lots of options but many only offered small rooms and charged upwards of $60 per night for parking. Others utilized parking garages "in the area" that were not connected with the hotel and I had some safety concerns with that. I have always enjoyed staying at Marriott's Residence Inns and saw that this one checked all the boxes: good reviews, free parking, free breakfast, fitness center, within minutes from eating options and only 15 minutes away from downtown Philadelphia. The immediate area of the hotel is unique in that it is surrounded by iron works and the hotel builds on that theme with some lovley decor throughout its space. The hotel is right off the Schuykill River. There is a great walking/running trail alongside the river there as well; the Pencoyd Trail. That entire area is separated from the rest of the town by I-95 and some train tracks...very safe and quiet. Check-in process was simple. The lobby was well-maintained with some business-center style computers off to the side. We ended up getting a studio suite with one king bed, sofabed and a kitchen. The room was great...the full-sized refrigerator, kitchen, microwave, iron, ironing board and large TV with adequate channels (including HBO) are always appreciated, especially when traveling with the family. The TV also allows you to sign into a few streaming apps, including Netflix, Youtube and Amazon Prime. Clean bathroom with good water pressure. Efficient climate control in the room as well. Quiet rooms...we didn't hear much outside noise. Ice machines were seemingly on every floor. There are two restaurants at the hotel...one is casual and the other a bit nicer. Hot tea and coffee, iced coffee, water and cookies are free and available at all times in the lobby. There is a "marketplace" shop that sells snacks and drinks in the lobby as well. There is an adequate fitness center, nice-sized pool, a game room (a few games) and a lovely lounge area with a fire place. The lounge area is a quite big and had some great soft/lounge seating throughout as well as lots of board games. A nice place to kill time before check-in or after check-out, or just relax. The stay price was a bit higher than some other options, but the extras and conveniences make up for that. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.
