Here I am in Van Horn, TX, for a quick stop at Pilot for gas and restroom break. There was only one gas pump per aisle which is not maximizing its usage IMHO... at least 2 pumps per aisle at a minimum... maybe there wasn't a lot of space for more... oh well. Restrooms were clean. I also did a little perusing through the aisles to see if there were any good snacks to nibble on till I got to my resort. I ended up getting a couple bags of chips... Fritos original corn chips and Cheetos crunchy... they had a sale buy one get one half price so why not LOL. The cashier named Steve was a really nice gentleman. I like this stop. I can get gasoline, good service and Wendy's sandwiches. They have always given us good service in both locations and you can go back and forth easily. The price of gasoline is reasonable. The parking lot is clean. I recommend popping in if you need a rest or a quick stop. read more

I love Pilot travel centers. They are also associated with Flying J. They offer a good selection of drinks, snacks, finger foods and other items as well. If you are part of the rewards program you can get .03 cents off per gallon. You can also get free coffee after you buy several cups, I thinks it's buy nine get one free. Worst pilot in the country. Trucks blocked out to the Road. Can't even get in to fuel, eat, shower, etc. Called store. They did nothing about it. Saw atleast 12 trucks blow horns and leave. This place is very dirty! The restrooms are beyond filthy. And I know Pilot can afford to hire someone to keep the restrooms clean. And several are out of order. If your passing through better stop cause Van Horne is basically an island on land. Either way your driving east or west your going to need gas, this Pilot station is not as updated as the others are but they pretty much have the same thing. read more

Would give it 0 stars if we could. Negative stars, even. We rolled in with my wife having digestive trouble, and needing a rest room very quickly. The Women's room was closed; and the women were all directed to an alternate rest room, where there was a huge line. In the meantime, the Men's room was empty - they asked if they could perhaps borrow the Men's to get some relief, and the staff said "No!" They seemed to be completely unresponsive, and from what I could see, nobody was working on the broken women's room at all. What's up with that? Terrible way to treat women, unresponsive to human distress, no desire to make anything better. I travel full time in an RV. I had to see the cashier to get the diesel pump to work. She charged my card for a specific amount and told me that if I did not use it all, that it would be credited back to my card. I did not use it all and have had the correct amount charged to the card. Then after I left the store, someone tried to charge $500 onto my card. Fortunately, it was denied as my card company wanted to verify the charge. Unfortunately, someone at this store is using credit card information to make illegal charges. They do not answer their phone. I have tried numerous times to call them and explain the situation to the manager. But no answer. Therefore, this review. read more

This is not one of my favorite Pilot's. We come through here about twice a year and it is usually dirty and a huge line. This time it was clean though and the lines were short. I hope they continue to keep it clean. We try not to stop at this Pilot and would advise other travelers to try and avoid it. read more

This has to be the best travel center I have ever encountered. Clean, clean, clean. They have a Cinnabon bakery inside and all kinds of food, drinks and items for the weary traveler. What I found very nice was they had a counter with homemade food such as meatloaf, mashed potatoes and vegetables. How nice to be able to get a homemade type meal out on the road at a travel center no less. There was plenty of seating available as well. Did I mention cleanliness. This travel center has free WiFi available as well. I definitely took advantage of that. I will stop here every time. read more

OK so I first went to the Valero that was across the street. A huge mistake. The parking lot where you pull to the pumps has potholes and is falling apart. When I went inside, the woman working the register was not friendly. They said they can only take cash as their credit card machine didn't work. Their bathroom was closed to customers. I went across the street to the Pilot gas station and what a difference! They were clean, had a working credit card machine, and they even have a Wendy's attached to buy lunch!!! Our first stop at this Pilot, and we're soooo glad we did stop here. Traveling across country by RV and low on water but so wanted a shower mid-day. All personnel at Pilot were friendly and efficient. Showers were immaculate, towels clean and fluffy and even warmed for us. Entire establishment clean, and food looked and smelled delicious; too bad we had already eaten lunch!!! Highly recommend this Pilot for whatever your travel needs may be!!! read more

This Pilot station is disgusting. Filthy, smelly, creepy, and worst of all, houses a Wendy's staffed by no one that looks over 18. On March 14, 2009, my husband and I ate here and got food poisoning- explosive diarrhea, projectile vomiting and all. The culprit was undercooked and lukewarm beef. If I could give a zero star I could. First of all, they had no signs saying you had to prepay. I swiped a card after waiting for a spot for 20 minutes (because everyone had to prepay apparently) and it said "see attendant". I then went in to see the attendant. Waited in line for 5 minutes to prepay. They wanted me to know how much to put in and I wanted to fill it up. "No we can't hold your drivers license" they said. I told them $20 and gave cash. I then went out to pump. I didn't fill it up because this place after my 30 minute fill up needed no more of my money! About an hour down the road I get a fraud alert text that someone tried to use my card!! I cancelled the card and I'm on a road trip. This place needs shut down till they figure out what is going on. Once again, this fine fuel & food stop earns 5-stars and my "Wheel of Approval!" because it was a late and needed stop for me whilst Eastbound to visit a good friend in GrandfallsTX-USA. What really facilitated the quickness was my being able to put the charge on my VISA credit card and NOT having to go inside the physical building. I was tempted to enjoy a treat from the same-building Wendys, but resisted for the same reason--no need to wait in line at this rather congested facility. I have very good feelings about this facility; five years ago, 12JUN2011, I had just pedaled from FabensTX-USA, some 100miles/160kms, which caused me to marvel because my current condition (sarcopenia) severely limits my cycling distances. However, I wondered if it was the strong tailwind that convinced me whilst eating in Sierra Blanca that pedaling to Van Horn would be easy (it was--until climbing through the Van Horn mountains). Some 14 hours after departing Fabens, I called my #1 son in Houston (and turn-around point at the end of the month), informing him of my tremendous success. I didn't call him 24-hours later, when I was barely able to pedal 45miles/72kms, camping between US90 & the fence, enervated, dehydrated & desperate due to no water. Fortunately, USBP agents Lily & Jay did their job and investigated the apparent vagabond (me), but I'm legal and carry papers; doubling my fortune, they gave me cold, clean freshwater, ensuring that my biketour would continue. Anyway, this Pilot Travel Center is an excellent stopping point for all travelers going East or South; take care of both your motor vehicle/18-wheeler and body. Enjoy! read more
