I have been going to Pin Salon from the beginning of this salon's opening. I continue to return because no matter who I see I've never had a less than exemplary experience. I most often have appointments with the owners, but on occasion, my schedule doesn't enable me to see them. We've gone ash blonde, to strawberry, to beautiful rich reds, back to buttery blonde and back to red again and the end product is perfect every time. She also does a wonderful job of maintaining the integrity of my hair and making sure we keep it healthy in the process. She always takes the time to listen to me (very poorly) attempt to tell her what I want. Not being in the hair business myself, it's hard for me to explain my vision sometimes and somehow she still nails it. She's patient and thoughtful and really cares about her clients and it shows. Elsewhere bright new to PIN. Kelsey was assigned to do my balayage and Stella was assigned to do my haircut. Both of them consulted with me at great length to make sure they knew what I wanted. I've have a hair affair with Rainer for years, long before he was married, through him meeting his wife and starting a family and yet we've stayed strong through the years with a gorgeous hair did every time. It gets better and better. Who is Rainer you may ask, well he is the Salon owner and one of the best stylist in our city. He finally branched out to open his own salon many years ago. I came to know him as I stalked Dallas women with great hair and asked them where and who and I found my man. Before that, I was traveling to Miami for my cuts and highlights but breakups happen and often for the BBD. Rainer is also known as one of the lead stylist to the DCC and the world knows those women have the bouncest best hair ... and other bouncy attributes every football Sunday. Some great things you should know. Rainer has understudies. He trains his people and I'm sure his staff are darn good but my locks are only for his hands. It takes weeks/months to get an appointment with Rainer so try someone else if you can't wait. If you wait for Rainer tell him Tina H sent you. Rainer personally has rockin hair and style...he takes pride in his look and yours too. No pressure for add on products but through the years, I've gotten better at home results from buying the recommended products that he uses when styling my hair so splurge and get the products. Before relocating from San Francisco back to Dallas, I asked my stylist for a recommendation on who THE best for color and cuts in the DFW Metroplex might be. I didn't expect them to know anyone, but hey, why not ask anyway? I was surprised when they said Rainer for cut and Billy for color and then gave me their telephone number. The two have been working their magic on my hair ever since. At first because I was still doing a traditional corporate gig, I had a very short conservative haircut. When I wrapped that up I grew my hair to shoulder length. Rainer is nothing but confident when it comes to cutting all types and styles of hair. I required quite a bit of training to learn some tricks to long hair and he was the ideal teacher. He suggested several different looks for various occasions and then taught me how to make it happen....almost as good as he does. Billy returns my white hair back to its "natural" color about every 6 weeks. I know most people think their color expert is the best. Honestly, when I look at some of their hair color results, it just confirms that Billy Irby actually IS the best hair color specialist in Dallas, Texas -- period! Now the two have ventured out and opened their own salon and this is it. The facility is easy to get to and ample parking is right out front. It's a comfortable and clean open style place. All of that is nice, but I don't go to salons because they're pretty. I go to get my hair taken care of by people that know what they're doing and then do it every time. I have no doubt that the team these two have put together at Pin Salon are top notch, too. You know, birds of a feather. The negative about writing a good review for this place is that they'll be even more busy and booking my appointment will become more challenging. The atmosphere here really makes getting a haircut a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Make an appointment with Tabitha when you plan your visit. I have been getting my hair cut by her for years and she really gives me a perfect cut every time. I followed her to Pin from another salon that I liked but I was pleasantly surprised on my first visit. This review is of Tan, I cannot speak to the other stylists: WORST HAIRCUT EVER FROM TAN! Do NOT let him cut your hair!! I literally sat down and asked for 3 things: 1) LONG layers 2) Do NOT cut it short up by my face, I need my hair to go into a ponytail and 3) I have very thick hair, I want it to lay well in the back where it's super thick.. but I just had a baby and I'm about to lose a bunch of hair so don't thin it too much!... he literally did the EXACT OPPOSITE of all 3 things I asked. I have crazy short layers.. he practically gave me bangs it's so short around my face.. and OH MY GOD my hair is SO thin now! Like I literally have about a third the hair I came in with. WHAT PART OF "I'M ABOUT TO SHED ALL OF MY POSTPARTUM HAIR DID HE NOT UNDERSTAND!?!". I could cry thinking about my hair getting any thinner but I know it's coming any day now. It literally infuriates me - he got SO overzealous with the thinning shears. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F. I'm honestly impressed that he was able to screw up THIS bad. I liked the folks, they were sweet, but everything else was just meh. Went in for Balayage on my very dark hair, came out looking like Donald Trump. Seriously, the color was so far off and so orange in some places. Had to go back the next day for a color fix. Perhaps I was assigned a less experienced colorist who refused to show me color swatches or even properly advice on what color to go with. My main issue is, the colorist peaces out after washing your hair. They do not come back to check the color, and you are left to fend for yourself after that. No mirror, no double checking if everything turned out ok. I was literally handed a blow dryer and told to dry my own dripping wet hair. Wtf? read more
