I plan to visit Pin Up Bootique today as I just heard about it from a friend and am a huge fan of 50s fashion. I order a lot of clothing online and think it would be fun to try on different clothes. The ratings are so low regarding the staff and Eli B., Cambridge, MA may have nailed the reason. I'm driving from South Orange County, CA which is quite a distance so hopefully the staff issues have been resolved. A team is only as good as their leader. The staff was so incredibly helpful! The gal went size hunting for me and asked what occasion I was shopping for, she brought me several options and knew exactly what I needed for my figure. She was the most helpful person I'd run into all day after viewing poor selections at several other stores and being ignored by their associates. Also, I had been looking for a hair and makeup artist for the same occasion, they have flyers for the business who works on their calendar and helps with their catalogue models. They talked her business up and were super helpful in the information I needed for the referral. I love this store, when i went to this store it was my last stop before i was greatly dis-pointed by the mall...and it was the night before my birthday i was in a rush and the mall was closing thinking that i was not going to find anything. i went into the store and they were closing when i couldn't find anything about to leave and i told the sales girl that it was my birthday and i cant find anything to wear for the night she pulled me a side and help me find a dress. Had such a lovely experience here today, the staff was friendly and very approachable. One of the girls actually zipped up my dress for me and made me feel very comfortable. I came here having low expectations. I knew nothing about the pinup style. But I needed an outfit for a fundraiser photoshoot I signed up for. So I went in thinking I'll try on stuff to see what style I liked and looked best on me. And then I'll just buy what I wanted online. I ended up walking out with $160 worth of stuff because it was so cute! The ladies were all helpful and pulled stuff down for me that was hanging high up. In the dressing room, the girl was attentive and helped me zip up, pair accessories and gave recommendations. I was in there for quite a while trying things on. They didn't rush me. The staff here is rude, and couldn't care less if you shop here. They will ignore you until you are persistent. When you ask to try on a dress, they will size you up, and assume that because you are not 90 lbs, and their clothes run slightly small,- you must be too fat for everything in the store. I am 5 feet tall and very curvy (144 lb large breast and butt), therefore I must look enormous, but turns out I wear a size medium in all of the clothes that they (begrudgingly) allowed me to try on. Their clothing is over priced, and not of the best quality, however, I did purchase 1 dress, because I needed it for an event and couldn't find anything else I liked. One dress was nearly $150. So for that expense, I'd have expected better, and friendlier service, and not to be underhandedly called fat. To top it all off, they have a NO RETURN or EXCHANGE policy. Really? Not even exchange? Come on... Do you stand behind your products? I wish there was a place to find this style of clothing elsewhere, and then I'd never have to go to this place again. It felt terrible shopping here. I'd call it a classless place, and an overall BAD experience, I don't recommend it. I'm not too sure why this store has so many bad reviews, I was hesitant to visit because I had previously read how their customer service is lacking. However, when I visited today I got nothing but the best customer service! I don't quite remember what the gals name was but it says Brandy on my receipt so I'll just assume that was the correct name of the employee who helped me in my selection when I was shopping earlier. First off, they have a new location as of right now. They are next to Dave and Busters. But the store is much larger than their previous location so it'll be perfect once they move all of their merchandise from the old location over. When I walked in both ladies working greeted me right away. Brandy walked over when she saw I was looking to try a specific dress. She was knowledgable on what size would fit me best since their dress sizes run a size or two small. I tried on two dresses and two shirts. Brandy was so helpful through the whole process. She checked on me after I tried each garment on. Suggesting different belts that would go good with the dress or even having me try a petticoat to see if that would be a good option for me. She was patient the whole time. The prices were pretty good as well! I've looked for Pin Up fashion before and the prices for dresses are usually over $100 per dress. I ended up purchasing two dresses and a belt from Pin Up BOOtique for under $150! It was a great deal to me! I will continue to shop here as long as their customer service remains the same as I experienced today. Their clothes are so cute I can't resist! Five stars for the service I received from Brandy, I hope all of their employees can learn from her on how to treat customers. Not sure why this store has such negative reviews, I have always had a good experience shopping here! Been greeted every time I walked in and asked if I need help or if I'm looking for anything in particular. The other day I tried on some dresses and pants, the sales lady (I think she may have been the owner but I didn't get her name) was very helpful and offered to grab me any item in another size to try. Left with an adorable cardigan I can't wait to wear everywhere. The clothes are a bit pricey, but they are what you can expect for the brands and quality they carry. For instance, I saw a pair of Deadly Dames capris for sale for the EXACT SAME price they go for on that brand's website. Except inside of guessing my size and paying for shipping, I can try them on here and buy from a local small business. Win win to me! Last night I walked into my favorite store expecting to pay a couple hundred dollars on good quality dresses and accessories and wonderful customer service, I bought my wedding dress here which I hold close to my heart, but I experienced different this time around. 2 girls standing around gossiping, no smile, no welcome. I heard one of the girls complaining about a stomach ache. I asked the other girl who didn't have a stomach ache if she can take down some dresses for me & her sour face made me feel like I asked her to drink expired milk. I went into the dressing room and these dresses are heavy, hard to put on and need help zipping, as people always helped me in the past so I expected that kinda treatment but no, I asked for help. And the girl came with the sour milk look, jerked the dress and aggressively moved the zipper to try to close, gave up and said it doesn't fit & walked away to gossip w/her coworker. Not even asking me if I need a bigger size but dismissive. There was an eery funk in the air where I felt like I wasn't welcomed, I just can't even explain it, so I bolted out the door. If you aren't feeling good at work GO HOME! If you aren't able to perform 100% then you don't belong at work, PERIOD. No excuses for bitchy attitudes. So I spend my money somewhere else where people had common manners. I would love to return to this place someday but would like the owner or manager to retrain the staff or maybe rehire people....shit I'm available! I'll treat every girl like a Queen! I've been here many times to shop and have spent hundreds of dollars in this store, but every single time I go, I am met with the most absolutely horrible, unpleasant, rude unprofessional employee by the name of Tania who happens to be the manager, the first time I went I purchased 2 dresses,heels & a petticoat, the one nice employee was offering to help me with a size and Tania came out of nowhere to tell me that she didn't think the petticoat would fit so she went to back with it to pull a larger size, moments later she came back out with an even SMALLER SIZE than the one she had in her hand, she said here this is the only size we have and her coworker pointed out that NO in fact it was an even smaller size, she went to the back to try and keep the bigger size hidden. She's always making little remarks thinking she knows better than anyone there and it's very unprofessional, she tries to correct mistakes on employees in front of all the customers every time I go, making a scene whenever someone does something wrong she's very petty about it. One of the last times I had to go out of my way to ask for help bc she was off in a corner doing god knows what instead of assisting any of the customers in the busy store, I asked her to pull down one of the dresses and right away she's telling me that it has to be 2 sizes bigger than what I normally wear without even knowing what size I am and she keeps the dress in her hands because she says she doesn't think it will fit me with an attitude in her tone, I ask her for the dress because she doesn't want to hand it to me to see and I tell her if you don't mind I will try on the dress and she kinda just gives me a dirty look while I go try it on, that same day she doesn't want to help me grab a size of heels I need so I go out of my way to ask the new employee for help and she gives Tania a look as in "why aren't you helping her type of way" I decide to purchase them, as they fit perfect on me, while I'm still on the floor lacing up my boots Tania has already rung up the register and is trying to collect the total of over $200 while I don't even have my shoes on yet, she clearly sees me trying to put on shoes and she's ready to take my money and I ask her for a moment while I put on my other shoe and she gives me more attitude, Can you believe that's not where my bad experiences stop ?? I can't believe it either once she finds out my name is karla she goes oh that's my daughters name too and is suddenly nicer to me, I just wanna say while the dresses are nice and slightly overpriced it's not worth going anymore after she was rude to my Mother and sister the last time we went wedding dress shopping. I went to this store today and was planning spend some money, however, the rude old lady ( I'm guessing the owner of the Pinup Store) was super rude. Not only was she super rude, but I handed her a skirt and petticoat and told her I was going to give my shopping bag to my boy's that were outside Pinup store and I would be right back to try them on. And after handing her the skirt and petticoat at the same time, she looked and me and rudely said to me "Where's the Skirt you had" and looked down at my bag. Couldn't decide between 2 outfits, so I asked to have it put on hold for 1 hour (which she said she would) so I could try and find a cardigan to go with it. Came back in 30 minutes to purchase one of the outfits, to find out the manager put back all my items and wouldn't help me find them again because "They don't put stuff on hold." For years I had been a loyal customer of the Pinup Bootique but after today I'm not sure I will ever go back. I never had a hard time when exchanging an item. I understanyd they have a "No refund policy" but the associates never mentioned a "No exchange policy" was being implemented as well. I was given such a difficult time today to exchange an item for a larger size because I was told the item was not even on the receipt. My question is, how can I reproduce a receipt with their store information on it and bring in an item that they sale but from a different vendor? It just does not make sense. Word of advice, communicate with your associates and get on the same page. I work retail and I understand how important customer service is it's just saddening to see people working retail when the last priority on their list is their customers. read more

A while back I had gone to this store with three other friends. We arrived approximately 8pm, though it could have been a little earlier at about 7:45. Everything started off fine though our greeting from the associates was a bit rude. We all browsed, chose clothes and waited our turn to go into the fitting rooms as we must wait for an associate to help us. No problem with that. My review is about the customer service we experienced at this time. The associate who helped us progressively got worse. There are no signs saying you can only enter the fitting room a maximum of three times. I can kind of understand if it was just before closing however there was at least 25 minutes before closing and there is a major difference between letting a potential customer know it's an unwritten policy which SHOULD be written somewhere and being absolutely rude about it. I was contemplating on purchasing a dress for an upcoming dapper day at Disneyland so my boyfriend and I could match better era-wise and I have no problem buying a dress I know that's marked up because if I like it enough, it doesn't matter. However the associates attitude is a complete turn off and I was completely floored by the sheer rudeness, I will not be coming back. Ever. All I wanted was to try on a dress I had tried on earlier in my visit and one more I thought looked nice. You're not allowed to take pictures so to compare the two you would have to try it on, especially when you want something to flatter your type of body best. I work in retail, and when it comes to shutting down we kindly let our guests know we will be closing soon. We never say it with attitude or look annoyed with their presence. We assist them to help them get their shopping done faster because we do appreciate their business. If they still don't end up buying, at least they can leave with a pleasant experience. My friends and I did not. Pros: Cute clothes Cons: Terrible customer service skills. Train your associates right. They're a reflection of management, the face of your business. Mess that up, you'll barely get by in the future. Perhaps things have changed during our last visit however I shall not be back. read more

When i first contacted you on the issue i sent pics and you refused to do anything but a $10 credit to go have it rehemed. Then you send a private message requesting a receipt to aid in my swap of the dress to much time has passed since the incident. Then I got home to realize she gave me the XTRA SMALL ! One day before the event I don't have time to exchange ! They were low on stock in most of their sizes and when you ask to get a dress down, they give you attitude.
