I would like to make people aware of Pinch A Penny Pool Patio Spa. A couple months ago I used their monthly service to start routine cleaning of my pool. I was told Thursdays of every week they would come out and brush, vacuum, skim the surface, and add chemicals as needed. They would clean the filter monthly as well for $150 a month. I was delighted as we had just gotten our pool resurfaced and both my husband and I work full time jobs. It was like the 3rd week of my first month and I was home Thursday installing new furniture on my back patio. I spent almost the entire day out there. And no one showed up. I had a party that weekend that SURPRISE I needed our pool for. I called the store and was told the tech Jacob was running behind and would be out on Friday. I was very understanding that things can come up and a tech could be behind and asked if their policy stated that they should inform their paying customers when a technician misses an appointment. They reassured me that they will talk to Jacob and make sure it doesn't happen again. The next month I realized that the second week of the month (Thursday is my service day) and Sunday the pool was turning green. I called the store Monday and was told Jacob hadn't been out there for a week and a half. And that he couldn't access my house because the street was "backed up" (not sure of a time that Spring Lake Rd has traffic but ok) again no communication- no follow up- and never came back out. I asked to speak to a manager. I was transferred to Brian. Who gave me his personal number and said he would come out that week and get my pool back blue. I told him I wanted pictures sent every week before and after my service and a description of what the chemical readings and a pic of my pool from Jacob every week. He assured me they would be out there every day this week to make up for the times Jacob wasn't able to be there. Brian showed up and sent me pictures they showed up twice that week. Fast forward to last week- Jacob marked he had showed up. And even with 2 cars parked in the driveway he lied and never came as my husband and I were home and were diligent to look out for him. I canceled my services this past weekend. My pool is green and I've hired a new contractor to do the work. I was never offered a refund or an apology for not being able to stick to their policy and their end of the bargain. Beware of using them for pool cleaning services. Make sure you have a camera installed to check that the pool is actuallly getting cleaned. Since my pool was resurfaced I now have stains from the pool not being properly maintained in the curing stage. read more

I called the Leesburg store for help with my spa heater. They sent out a technician within a few days. He gave me the diagnosis but was going to talk to the pentair representative the next day. I got crickets for a week. I replaced the part he recommended. It still didn't work. Called the store to find out he no longer works here. Second tech arrived to tell me it was a different part but he couldn't find one. I found one and replaced it. Still no luck. He then told me it probably was time to replace it. Ok. Now the problem begins. I called for a quote. $4079 for the heater. Ouch but ok. I'll be in tomorrow. Met with Matt. Very nice man. He said I was miss quoted. It's $4700+. Again more ouch but ok. Go ahead and order it and I'll pay now. He couldn't get the register to except the new heater code. The store was filling with more customers while he was by himself. I asked if we can do this over the phone. He said yes. He called me when he had a moment to process the info but the register still didn't work. I asked if I could just pay when I pick it up. He said that would be fine. The following week when the heater arrived I came in to pay and retrieve the heater. Matt was on vacation. So guy 3 rang me up. $5700+. I said no no no. This was on sale. His response was with a arrogant tone. You needed to be here Monday. The sale ended Monday. It was Wednesday. I said I tried to pay for this when I ordered it. At this point he was on the phone with IT because the other register wasn't working. Then he walked away heading to the back of the store. Another worker asked where he was going. I responded he doesn't want me to here the conversation. 10 minutes later after returning into the store from out back he went into the back room. I looked at another worker and said this doesn't look good. I walked out the front of the store to roll back the cover on my pickup. He came out to tell me he can take 5% off. I said that's not right. I will talk to Matt when he returns. He said it won't matter. He can't do anything. I've been in to see them twice; once because I bought a pool that was equipped with an insufficient pump/filter (so I got the bigger sand unit) and once because I started cutting back on my filter-running (the electric bill went up unexpectedly) so the water started turning green. Naturally, I thought something was wrong, so I took them a sample of my pool water (which turned out to be so pure that it was drinkable), and Robbie suggested a less-than $10 solution!! I just went in to buy a pool pump & spend $600 on it & they wouldn't give me any kind of a deal on it because the manager judged me because I haven't been in the store enough times, I was only there 1 time this year for chlorine. It doesn't matter that I've been in this store 2x & called 1x to ask about pumps in the last 1.5 weeks. For the last 16 years, I have only used this store for all my pool needs. The last time I called was Saturday & the manager told me to wait until next month (September) when the pumps will be 20% off. That would save me $112. Little did I know that my pump would die the next day on Sunday, so now I had to buy 1 a month early. I asked if we could work something out to get a better deal & he said no. I guess this store doesn't care or realize that there's a pandemic going on & most people don't have the money to dish out when they don't have any income. This was a very hard decision for me & I don't appreciate being judged by someone who doesn't know me or our situation. When we stopped in for our first visit I was impressed with the high level of customer service. The place had a positive energy and everyone was friendly and wanting to help. Update ..The owner called me and apologized and asked for another chance so dummy me did and I went in the next day requesting to have our pool pump replaced. Once the manager realized I filed a complaint with Pinch a pennys corp office she copped an attitude towards me . She had me fill out a service call sheet and asked me to text a pic of the pump to a phone number ( I did that later that evening) and she said I would receive a call the next morning. Guess what never received a call (until after I filed another complaint with the corp office) well I waited 6 days with no call so I called their competitor (United Pools) yesterday and they replaced the pump today. So the manager just gave away a $400. job to a competitor and how many others has she done that to who never said a word just went elsewhere. The manager must be related to or the girlfriend of the franchise owner to still have her job as she is completely incompetent and running customers off...THEY LOST OUR BUSINESS AND REFERRALS FOR LIFE read more
