We had used their service in the past as first time pool owners we didn't really know the ends and outs of pool service so it turned a bit sour. I called today to try and set up new pool service Maureen the owner was super rude she said you fired us and you where a nightmare good bye and hung up run from this store don't go here. Sunday 11/13/22, i went into the north port store to buy a larger pool light. They didn't have one and told me bluntly to go to Leslie's pool supplies? I had purchased a smaller light , unopened in its box about 3 months ago from this location. I asked for a credit. The elderly woman working there said absolutely not. Very surprised I left the store. Decided to go back in and cordially asked for the manager. The elderly woman stated she was the owner. I asked for Corp number. I was calm and friendly. She on the other hand went off the deep end!! Screamed at me , shouted in front of other customers 'you must be one of those Canadian Assholes'. Seriously she screamed this! I have an accent but her geography was way off! Not a very smart elderly woman. She then told me to leave! I told her to calm down and de-escalate and stop with the attacks. She eventually half heartily apologized after I told I can't believe you called me that! I proceeded to my car and heard her laughing about me to other customers ( who by the way did nothing, the other employee also did nothing after I asked him to stop this woman attacking me) To all Canadians and anyone with an accent or different in any way to to this woman , AVOID this store , AVOID this sick, twisted, rude , racist , elderly woman who states she owns the store. Her franchise should be revoked if she indeed is the owner. She hates foreigners and most likely anyone of color .Ignorant disgusting woman. Her voice was harsh and her look was worn. Rude owner and manager. I see I'm not the only one to experience these issues. Why they feel it appropriate to gossip about a customer not only in front of that customer but other customers as well blows my mind. I used to shop at sparkle bright but unfortunately the owner sold to Leslie's who I dislike as they provide little to no training for the employees. They don't even ask if your pool circulation has changed or having a problem when your experiencing new water issues. I don't believe over half my pop ups are working correctly since the hurricane and cannot get in the pool to find out. read more

I thought I found a place to get my pool supplies, testing and advice. I went in once and was completely grateful for everything the owner did and treated me. I went in a couple of days later and got her daughter and was treated like I was wasting her time and was the complete opposite and rude. I won't be using going there again. read more

The person that was cleaning my pool was doing a good job but the management do not accept any complaints and are very defensive and with a terrible attitude. I had been working with another pool company but gave them a try after a less than satisfactory experience with the other one. I waited three months for a service call after going to the store twice to fill out a request form. I finally gave up and went here. We now have a new "favorite." They replaced the pool light fixture as well as the display panel in our salt system control box. They also added a handrail on the exit steps. They came out three times and were always within the window they gave us. Their prices seem better than our old store. Example: A digital floating the thermometer was $39 at the old store and $26 here. read more

This pool company deserves 0 stars. But, you must select one in order to leave review. The owners of Pinch A Penny are highly unprofessional & defensive about ANY criticism. The techs spend no time at all cleaning your pool. My less than one year old pool has calcium build up, algae spots, and waterline tiles are always hazy. My salt level was often low and pool filter was rarely cleaned. I did most of the real cleaning myself and unfortunately continued to pay them. I called on a few occasions to express my dissatisfaction and was greeted with unreturned phone calls or no follow up whatsoever. Jeremy is brash and entirely rude. They never once took the approach to make my concerns their priority. This is a prime example of a company that does NOT value their paying customers and likely only offer cleaning service in order to make the 'big money' on repairs. I DO NOT recommend this company to any prospective customer. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! Stay away or you'll regret it!! You're welcome... read more

We just moved in town and the filter on our pool was loud. They sent someone out right away. We could have jut had them replace the motor but they gave us an estimate for a new filter, wasn't that much more so we went ahead with a new filter. Sent the guy out and it was replaced. If I could leave 0 stars I would. They have been "supposedly" servicing my pool since July 2018. I have recieved reports AND pictures from my HomeWatch service contrary to this. I also have pictures from my HomeWatch that they were using MY pool equipment to clean pool, and just left it hooked up. My wife has also been down to my house 5 times between July 18' and December 18' and also NEVER visited to a clean pool. I have called and they said it is once again. "supposedly" because I have alot of trees and face the golf course. Well, I have been here since Friday 1/11/2019 permanently....I cleaned my pool immediately because it was cluttered with debris and dirty, did not cleaned it for 7 days, and guess what???? Full week later and its STILL perfectly CLEAN! 6months × $90= $540 = I was taken advantage of!!! How many others I'm wondering?? Office people have always been professional, courteous, and polite. Pool service is way subpar. I posted this to wrong store, SORRY, I had the wrong location. Im posting regarding store#232 in North Port. STAY AWAY! I love this place. Being a PA transplant, I was new to pool maintenance. A friend told me to take a jar of water to Pinch A Penny, and "do whatever they say." Well, I did, and I found Bridgette at the North Port store. She's a godsend. She's helped me through yellow algae, cloudy water, low pH, high pH, phosphate problems, and even numerous pump issues. This store is a little further away for me, but I continue to go to Pinch A Penny because their prices are better than the nearer store, and, honestly, it's the service. The closer store just can't compare. I can always get everything I need, but, more importantly, I get an education. It was exactly what I needed, and my pool looks fantastic. read more

Hit or miss with these guys, when they show up they do ok,when I told them I was going to cancel their services they showed up only 2 times in the last month, and never credited my account. There are plenty of other pool services that are better. read more
