I initially missed the turn to the hotel; sometimes the GPS is slightly delayed. After I got off the road, I needed to make another quick right, but I went farther, thinking I could get there another way, and I had to turn around. It is located in a quiet area, and there are some dedicated parking spots for titanium and ambassadors. I had never seen that before, so that told me they value the Bonvoy members. Check-in was professional and polite. I was told which elevator to use to get to my room. The hotel is in two sections, one has four floors and the other three. My view was of the other half of the building. The hotel is pet-free. The hotel has a large fitness room, an outdoor pool, and an on-site restaurant. This had been a long driving day, so staying put was nice. I went with a burger and fries and had Starry to drink, since they didn't have iced tea. Marriott hasn't switched to Coke products yet and still serves Pepsi. The hotel didn't give me the enhanced wifi like other Marriott hotels do. But the "good" connection was fast enough. The television had enough variety in stations. The rain shower was a nice surprise. I enjoy those. Breakfast was included for Members and higher, but I thought it was either the $16 dollar buffet or ordering from the kitchen. I ordered an omelet and toast, which was delicious and plenty, but I would have liked some of the fruit on the buffet. So that wasn't explained well. I don't think I got a photo of the omelet, but it was so good. The room has a larger TV, dresser drawers and one with a hidden safe. Then there was a large refrigerator with a freezer section, a microwave and a coffeemaker too. I liked the firm mattress and almost got a peaceful night of sleep. There was some commotion in the hallway at 3:37am. I'm not sure if it was other guests or employees, as my room was across from a storage room. But it was loud and woke me up abruptly. It sounded like something was getting moved. This was the only negative to my stay here.

Perfect for out of town guests or those looking for a golf get away. My only issues are with spotty wifi, and without the traditional front desk, some amenity issues arise. They opened at 11:30 and I was standing there as soon as the door opened. It's such an old school feel, something out of the 1920's or 30's. Then again considering the history of this hotel, that's not too surprising. I was offered a basket of free house made chips; that was super cool! The bartender gave me some recommendations, but I went with the turkey sandwich. I pretty much knew I was going to go with it too. Thick cut turkey (and I do mean thick), applewood-smoked bacon, Munster cheese, lettuce, sliced red onion, tomato and chipotle aioli on focaccia bread. What a great sandwich, one of the best turkey sandwiches I've ever had. I got the sweet potato fries for my side, they were hot and crispy. With the side of honey mustard (which I also poured on my sandwich), it took everything over the top. Oh and it included a big pickle spear, always a plus! And for $16, that's a heck of a deal for Pinehurst. The beverage selection isn't the biggest. They have three draft beers, but there are a lot more canned options. Super friendly service as well.

While southern pines has lots of hotels on route 1, I prefer to stay with the horses and dogs at Auntie Marged's. She will make you feel like family too, without smothering you because she is busy. Since there was far more to like than dislike about the hotel, I will start with what I didn't like: - My biggest complaint is that there was constantly something broken or breaking at the hotel. In my first room, the air vent on my microwave did not work, so I would smell up the entire floor while I was cooking. On top of that, their solution was to put another microwave on my counter, which left no space for preparing food. Even when my room was upgraded, half the stove top did not work. A friend stayed at the same hotel and his ethernet port didn't work, while another's air conditioning broke in the middle of the night. Toward the end of my stay, the door I used to get into the hotel broke, so I would have to go around to the other side to get to my room. - The gym leaves much to be desired. There is only one treadmill and elliptical with a few dumbbells ranging from 5 - 20 lbs. - I found the user interface on the TV very slow and almost unusable - Washer and Dryer are $3 each. For an extended stay hotel, it would have been nice for them to be free of charge, or at least have a quarter machine readily available - The cleaning service was sporadic, making it difficult to predict when to have my belongings put away so they could properly clean the room. Sometimes they would come every five days, and then not come for another 10. What I liked most: - The staff is honestly why I am giving this hotel five stars. I am a Marriott Gold Elite member, but I had to book a four month stay with two weeks' notice, so I was stuck with a basic studio room for the first few weeks. Dawn, the General Manager, was able to work her magic and upgrade my room to a king suite (perks of being a Gold Member), which made my stay much more enjoyable. - Since I was staying so long, the staff was willing to lend me little things that I forgot such as scissors, packing tap, and a screw driver. I even asked how much the beer costs and they lady at the front desk gave me a few beers for free that they had left over from an event. - The breakfast (while in a small room) had lots of options. Oatmeal with lots of toppings to choose from, cereal, muffins, bagels, hard boiled eggs, milk, and rotating meats (sausage, bacon, and breakfast sandwiches). Weekends usually included waffles, either Belgium or made with a waffle iron. - They just installed keyless entry in all the doors, which to me shows they are working on updating the hotel - The room had everything I was looking for in an extended stay. The king studio included a full size fridge, pots and pans, dish washer, stove top, large desk, two closets, and lots of storage. The king suite was pretty much the same but more storage, an oven (some don't include that), and a large living room with separate bedroom. - The hotel is right off Skibo Road, so everything that you need is 5-10 minutes away. It is right next to a Walmart and Sam's Club, and there are other super markets, restaurants, and gyms right down the road. It is also about a 12 minute drive to FT Bragg and 15 minutes from downtown. Again I HIGHLY recommend this hotel for anyone that is staying in Fayetteville for an extended period of time!

One great thing is the Landry machines are free, you just need to bring your own soap and fabric softener. Parking is not free despite just being standard on property parking every staff member I have been in contact with has been extremely friendly though. It's ok. Plenty of other properties in the area I would probably try one of those next time in the area.
