I recently spent a weekend at Pine Haven Campground and had a great experience overall. We stayed at a tent site right on the Baker River, which offered a truly picturesque setting. The site was spacious, flat, and well-maintained, making it perfect for our setup. Being elevated above the river, we had a beautiful bird's-eye view of the small beach area below, where people were lounging in inner tubes and enjoying the water. There was a short, easy path from the site down to the beach, which was helpful since the riverbank directly from the site was quite steep.
The campsite had room for two vehicles, a picnic table, and a fire pit, which made it convenient and comfortable. It was also within a reasonable distance of clean bathrooms, showers, and a water source for washing dishes. The bathrooms near the tent sites had coin-operated showers, but there was a free set a short walk away. I opted to pay for the nearby showers for convenience, and they were very clean and well-kept. I also appreciated the multiple outlets in the bathroom area, which were very helpful for charging phones and other devices.
Privacy between sites was limited, which might not be ideal for everyone, but I personally didn't mind. When camping with a small group, I sometimes find it reassuring not to feel completely isolated. Just be aware that you're close to your neighbors, so you'll want to hope for considerate ones.
Check-in was smooth thanks to the friendly and helpful front desk staff. They provided clear directions, a map, and answered all my questions about parking and finding the site. While cell service was spotty in the area, the campground's Wi-Fi was reliable and fast. It was especially useful for checking weather updates between hikes.
One important note: there's a speedway very close to the campground. During our stay, there was an event on Friday night, and the race cars were extremely loud. Fortunately, the races ended by 10 PM, but the noise was definitely unexpected and something to keep in mind.
Overall, Pine Haven was a great base for hiking and relaxing. The riverfront tent sites are a real highlight, and the staff and amenities made for a very comfortable stay. I would definitely return, though I might bring earplugs just in case. read more
