Great campsite for climbers. It's pretty close to the crags. We stayed at campsite ABC and shared the site with other climbers, paying $10 per person per night. It's a pretty clean, family friendly campground. There is an area with swings, volleyball court, and a communal fire pit. Each campsite has their own picnic table and fire pit too. It's also right by the river. Our campsite was a close walk to the bathrooms. As mentioned by another Yelper, there is a rotten egg smell in the bathroom. I just didn't realize it is from the water. Even though the campground was pretty packed this past July 4th weekend, I never had an issue waiting for a bathroom or shower stall. Do note that if you are going to shower around 8pm, the water will be cold! Be careful and make sure you do not drive over 5mph. We got yelled at for going too fast. You have to watch out for people walking around. I do not think they implement quiet hours because you can still hear folks talking and playing music in the wee morning hours.

I like Baker River. Nice and quiet for the most part. Some of the sites are not as private as one would like but still easy to separate yourself. We had three tents and three cars with our group last time and just parked the cars to create our privacy. There are sites with water and electric. Then there are primitive sites also. The sites near the bathroom tend to be a little sandier. Bathrooms are good with two showers, three toilets, and two sinks in each. Hot water. Dish sink outside the bathroom. Each site has a fire ring and a picnic table. Off the main road so fairly quiet with regards to traffic. Cash only. There is a climbers rate and a communal climbers site.

My favorite campground in New Hampshire! This is the place to get away from RVs and trailers and…read moreloud noises. OK there are a few spots for groups and you could probably get an RV and trailer up there, but I have yet to see it. The campsites here all have the basics for tent camping: picnic table, fire pit/grill, peace and quiet. Most of the sites are spaced far apart so that you don't turn your head and make eye contact with a neighbor. Some of them are almost completely isolated, and a few have lean-tos (you're near the Appalachian Trail after all). The fire pits are kind of annoying though, they're basically three-sided iron boxes with sliding grates on top. You'll stay warm and can easily cook on them, but not everyone is going to have a great view of the fire. There is garbage on site, pit toilets, potable water, and lots of hiking nearby. In fact, the hiking is probably one of the biggest draws. You could get a spot here and then hike to one of the other campgrounds in the national forest (those are obviously hike-in only), or just spend a few hours in the forest. We saw lots of moose droppings, but no moose. Maybe your luck will be better than mine. The river is nearby and there are several parks and access points to get to it. I saw quite a few people fly fishing last time I was here. You've got to drive to Maine to get here, and then head about 5 miles along a dirt road to cross back into NH. Stock up in nearby Gorham and bring plenty of firewood. You'll want to stay at least two nights, and you'll definitely want to come back.

I can't state strongly enough how impressed we are with Neal and Monique. They run a fantastic park! We're planning to come back when we pick up our class A. Tons of space make it very easy to maneuver in the park and everything is spotless clean. The property is well maintained and everything you could need will be delivered to you in what seemed like mere seconds. The small park for the kids was very clean as were the swimming pool and onsite facilities. Proximity to local attractions and great restaurants was also very convenient. Usually I like to offer some constructive critique for improvement, but I honestly can't think of one thing I would change or do differently. The only "problem" I have are my now high expectations of other parks. I feel like we need to make another trip somewhere else to see what the downsides to lesser parks look like! Thanks again Neal and Monique for a great first experience! Also, your breakfast recommendation at the common cafe was a winner! Thanks!

The owners, Neal and Monique, are busy working on it all the time and are sooo great. Just over their little hill is the river where people go tent and pop-up camping and float down the river. Sites are EXTREMELY spacious and perfectly level. Everything is well cared for and the little shop is well stocked. The first day we were here, the lady who was in the office bought my daughter some candy to help her feel as welcome as we did. It seems like a bit of a hidden gem too, because although the weekends seem to fill up pretty well-during the week it isn't busy at all, which is kinda fun for full-timers to have the pool and park to ourselves a bit. :)

Unforgettable experience....as usual! First off, we have been patronizing this campground several…read moretimes a year since the new owners (John and Lisa) took it over a few years ago and made countless upgrades and additions to make this campground one of the best in NH. We stayed here for our usual (3) nights in late August 2023 at our usual (brook front) site (no I won't say the site number... its ours LOL) with my wifey and our "son" (dog). I am constantly amazed how dog friendly this place is. Most notably the welcome he receives upon check-in and the obvious love of animals from the staff. Most notable, this past trip a male employee (maintenance) I believe (sorry I don't recall your name) went above and beyond by showing our dog so much love, making it a point to stop and say hello to him in passing and even bring him his own bag of dog treats on our last night (which he devoured before we got home). The campground has (3) amazing dog (ambassadors) which make the stay even more enjoyable. First there is Lacey, a quiet yet reserved doggo with an obvious sense of class and sophistication. Then there is Tyson and energetic lab who will be your best friend if he sees you with a ball. Last but not least there is Rocky the rottweiler who has been the "framed" by some bad reviews as intimidating (LOOOL) he is an amazing, well trained, kind, asset to this campground and it is your loss if you find him to "Intimidating" to say hello to as he is passing by sitting shotgun on the chrome wheeled chariot (golfcart) that he frequently "patrols" the campground in. Most notable in some negative reviews this campground has rules! and has security! for a reason! The rules are simple (DRIVE 5 MPH!) It's common sense! You wouldn't speed through a school zone so why a campground with countless kids and animals! And yes, if you speed you may get told to "slow down" please don't take offense to this like your being personally attacked. It's the employees and owners taking a stand to ensure their guests are safe! The second rule is "Quiet ours are 10pm to 8am". If you are making excessive noise during this time, yes, you most likely will be spoken to by security. Again, don't take offense to this "outrageous" rule. This campground is surrounded by (2) beautiful brooks and the last thing that needs to be heard is excessive noise in such a great location. We can honestly say in the several years we have been coming here we have never had a noise issue. However, if you do have an issue there is a convenient phone number you can text where your issue will be addressed promptly. Everyone here is either guests or friends which shows by the extent the owners (John and Lisa) go to ensure you are having a great time. The few negative reviews I have seen are mostly because you didn't give them a chance to go the extra mile for you, or were just plain rude or entitled. We have personally seen the owners and staff go the extra mile multiple times! As far as the campground itself its situated in the heart of the white mountains close to many major attractions (Clarks Trading Post, Kancamagus Highway, Storyland, Santas Village, Flume Gorge, Polar Caves, Lost River Gorge) to name a few. This campground is wooded! Yes, there are no wide open spaces it's a wooded campground in the heart of NH and there are trees, winding roads and each site is unique. The owners made it simple to plan your visit by having posted photos of many sites online as well as provide information while booking explaining what the features are to each site and what type of equipment it can accommodate. There are rustic (primitive) sites, full hookups (water, elec, sewer) as well as gorgeous "Glamping" cabins and more rustic simple wooded cabins! The (3) restroom/bathhouses are always clean and welcoming. The onsite laundry room served us well after we were ill prepared during a NH summer downpour! During the day (especially weekends) there are activities such as games (Human bumper ball!!!) as well as "Fairy walks!" Ice cream socials, arts and crafts and our personal favorite the "dance parties!" featuring the fairy lights (see attached photos) during the evening the area around the bridge is lit up by countless laser lights which reflect off the trees to create a truly unique experience. Each time we arrive our site has been immaculate and ready for us which is another kudos to the amazing staff. After writing this review, I feel like I have not touched the surface of topics I could talk about regarding this campground. We will continue to patronize this campground and consider it "our campground" and our "home away from home!". 10.5 out of 5 stars! -Lavoie family!

This campground has a lot of potential, While the campsites themselves are well maintained, with…read morenice river views, the overall campground is not. The bathrooms are old and dirty, with walls and doors that clearly need to be scrubbed of built-up grime and feces. The showers are quarter-operated, but unreliable and some without temperature control. The amenities listed online are also misleading. The "playground" is really just a small baby jungle gym, and the area that should be a playground is a complete waste of space. Across the street, they have a so-called swimming beach but it is nothing more than a mosquito-filled pond with a sunken paddle boat. The train is nice and freshly painted, but the swing set is in terrible shape and really needs to be removed before someone gets hurt. The water wheel advertised on the website doesn't work and doesn't look like it has in quite some time. On top of that, there's no WiFi service. With some updates and proper upkeep, this place could be wonderful--but as it stands, it's disappointing compared to what's advertised.

Not a problem for our group as we were looking to disconnect for the weekend, but definitely something to keep in mind. The camp wifi worked well up near the main areas, but could be a little spotty down by our site; no biggie though. We stayed at site R1 along the river, without hookups. These spots were gorgeous! The white noise of the river while sleeping was so relaxing. Our spot had some good distance from our neighbors, although it appeared some of the other "R" sites are a little close together (great for groups/families!). The area was flat with plenty of room to set up a large 8 person tent, and still have room for the picnic table, fire ring and chairs, and even more tents if needed. Our first day we had some severe weather warnings and quite a bit of rain. The staff was wonderful with driving by and checking on us, as they warned us the river can rise with severe rain. Luckily we didn't have any problems with the river getting too close to our tent. The campground has events throughout the summer that are definitely worth checking out. We were lucky enough to grab some pizzas from the food truck that came to visit! We will definitely be returning here, and recommending this place to friends and family!
