I had a very disappointing and frankly shocking experience at Pine Hollow Auto Care. About a month ago I brought my diesel truck in for a basic oil change. I was surprised when the bill came to around $500, but since I'm new to New York and diesel services can be more expensive, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and paid it. When I left, the owner told me I could come back anytime for a quick New York State inspection since they had already "looked over the entire vehicle." So I returned this morning right when they opened at 8:00 AM for the inspection. Right away something felt off. The owner wasn't even sure whether his DMV inspection machine could handle a diesel vehicle, which made me question why I had been told to come back in the first place. He then checked my front window tint and showed me it measured around 23%. I understand that New York requires about 70% light transmission, and I explained that I had just purchased the truck in Colorado and recently moved here. He walked me out into the shop area and showed me the reading. I told him I didn't want to waste his time and that I could simply remove the tint. I started peeling it off the driver's side window and it came off easily in about a minute. When I moved to the passenger side and began removing that tint as well, the owner suddenly started screaming at me, accusing me of being "entitled" and yelling about how I had no right to do anything in his shop, despite the fact that he was the one who had just brought me into the shop area moments earlier. It was one of the most unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional interactions I've had since moving to New York. I was trying to save both of us time and make it possible for the inspection to proceed. For context, I'm not "entitled." I work extremely hard for everything I have, and my family and I are currently even living with my mother-in-law while getting established here. Being spoken to that way by a business owner was completely uncalled for. Between the extremely expensive oil change, the confusion about whether they could even inspect a diesel vehicle, and the aggressive way I was treated, I cannot recommend this shop. If you value respectful customer service and transparency, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. read more

These guys are awesome. My wife and I always take our cars there. Her Infinity and my BMW. Ian usually takes care of us, and I forgot the guys name in the front office - but they know our name and never give us any BS. Always handle anything from brakes, oil, tires and little things that need to be addressed. They also tell us if we don't need anything which I so much respect. I have a 20-year-old car that is turning into a "money pit" and decided to try a new mechanic for service. My wife gets her gas here and has suggested often that I try them for servicing - I did, and am now kicking myself for not listening to her sooner. The experience was amazing! The cost came in almost exactly at the estimate and it was finished when they said it would be, both things I haven't seen at other shops in years. I took my '99 Sienna to the Pine Hollow Auto Care shop and I am more than satisfied with the performance of the employees as well as the store owner, Hedi. They handled us professionally and they completed the task on the same day that I gave them my car. They did my timing belt, side mirror, sound system and brakes. Their employees are friendly and informative, making you feel like your vehicle is in good hands. They walked me through the repair process and gave me clear options to help me decide what needed to be done and what could wait for the future. Money well spent. read more

This place is under new management and does not deserve to be associated with the prior reviews. I took my car their for an inspection and they told me I needed brakes and tires which came as a big shock since we had just done the brakes. To make matters worse they were rude and disrespectful and when confronted with their dishonesty were told to leave and never come back. My advise to all is to just stay away. read more

This place is a total rip-off!! They try to tell you your car needs tires or something it doesn't. Don't be fooled by the nice smile and smooth talk sounding concerned about you. They are crooks! It is well known in town by those who know anything about automotive repair. Stay away!!! read more

Beware if you go to this Getty station for a NYS required inspection. What they have done to me and a buddy of mine is they take your $37, then inform you they cannot pass your car unless you buy some new tires from them, or fix the oil leak under the transmission or your shock absorbed needs replacing. When they tried this I went to another station and passed without this shakedown. read more
