The exterior of the building has seen better days, and in broad day light, it looks rather run down. There is some weird parking in the front of the building but only enough for half a dozen cars. Back out straight into the street at your peril. Inside, the interior is circa 1990's, clean and cheerful. The bowling shoes are standard, but the balls have seen much better days long ago. The have chips and gouges all over. The games are computerized so it's one less thing to undermine your fun. There is table seating of four a step above for those waiting their turns and a stool in front of the computer below. The computer even gives you visual suggestions on where to throw and curve the ball for maximum results. If only my hand/eye coordination could follow directions. The ball retriever takes a bit of time, and the pin picker-upper gets stuck sometimes and doesn't knock down the pins. I call that an extra, free turn. You can push a button to force the machine to collect the pins. I forget the price of renting the shoes and per game, but I don't remember them being out of the ordinary. We met some lovely retired people bowling next to us, and in the other half of the building were tons of children. It seems the people assigning lanes takes into consideration where you should be placed based on how childless you are. I really appreciate the consideration because bowling is challenging enough for me without the distraction of screaming kids.

We drove by Friday and Saturday evening and it was packed. The staff were friendly, and gave us a little spiel before we drove. Prices are reasonable, $8 for about 10 minutes, which is enough to wear some folks out. Most of us went back for another run since no one was waiting to try next. The cars vary in age but are all about the same speed. It'd be nice to go faster on the straights, but floor it through the corners and you'll have a good ride. I would go back if we are in the area again, but I may have to search out bigger, faster tracks closer to home.

There is a scary restroom facility inside of the shelter. I was not feeling adventurous, so I looked from a far. There is not an official parking lot, but there are ample places to park. The playground is lined with wood chips and the equipment has seen better days. The parks equipment includes a jungle gym with slides and a rock climbing wall and a set of the older style swings. The equipment is playable, but the park is off the beaten path. The park needs a little TLC, which is ironic because it is co-located with the Parks and Rec Department. Anyway, I would probably check out another park if I wanted to play. It is deep enough out of the way that it may make it a decent spot to host an event and use the shelter. This park will do in a pinch or if you do not want to go to a busier park. But it definitely would not be my first choice or go to.

Great music, they only have Cosmic bowling on Fridays so come here for the cool cosmic art. We went inside the bar rather than the little window to get a drink. We met our server Melissa inside. My husband and I got to talking with her, & at a certain point we were just having fun bantering with her & others that came into the bar that we didn't even play games! We had so much fun just talking, we will definitely be coming again. Hopefully earlier rather than later, because Melissa is fun as hell to talk to & I'd come back to just hang out at the bar, watch TV & banter with her. The cosmic bowling looked cool, there's a bunch of pool tables & an air hockey station. They also have pizzeria style food(haven't tried yet). We definitely plan to go back, so I will update this when we actually play games. I just thought I should mention the epicness of our bartender, she singlehandedly made our night.

I have been to this location four times in the last four weeks and have met some very friendly people that run the place as well as the bowlers we have bowled with. I bowl on a league in another town and the atmosphere here is of no comparison. If, as another reviewer mentioned, the outside appearance was spruced up they would be a five star in my book and I don't give those out very often. If you find yourself looking for something to do and want to spend your money where you're really appreciated, make a visit to this diamond in the rough.

"World's #1 Haunted Attraction!" (circa 1958)…read more Frankenstein's Castle might've been novel in its time, but the charm has faded and what we're left with are dark, musty hallways and poorly-timed scares. While I can't say that it's fallen into a complete state of disrepair, Frankie's Place is in dire need of an updating. But maybe Indiana Beach is intentionally NOT updating it for the sake of nostalgia. Regardless, entry isn't included with park admission, so you'll have to shell out $3.50/person. So is it worth it? Nope. Many of the animatronic "pop-out" scares were mistimed or inoperable, and most of the long dark hallways were devoid of anything spooky at all. In fact, a great deal of the wallspace was empty, and on more than one occasion I had to walk with my arms outstretched to find my way around in the pitch blackness. But there were several 'fun house' elements that I enjoyed, like moving floors, a rickety bridge, a room full of misleading (dead-end) doors, and a balcony that suddenly tilts forward when you stand on it. THAT was cool and a very original concept. Perhaps back in the heyday of Indiana Beach this haunted(fun)house garnered a lot more accolades and attention, but in 2014 it's kinda falling apart at the seams.
