Peanut Butter and Banana Milkshake. End of Story. The Pinecrest Wayside market is famous for their strawberry milkshakes but since I don't live in Miami, and only get to go when visiting family in town, I can't waste my limited visits on an unknown entity and I KNOW the Elvis Peanut Butter and Banana Milkshake is amazeballs. The market itself is a little tiny fruitstand with extremely limited parking. They have a few picnic tables out front so you can stay and enjoy your purchases there if you want. They also sell some baked goods that are pretty tasty as well, and of course (it is a fruit stand, after all) fresh fruit and other healthy options. The staff isn't the friendliest, and sometimes it can feel a little bit like ordering from the soup nazi but, in my opinion, it's worth it. Very cute but was a little disappointed with the chicken salad. My boyfriend got a panini from the fridge and they heated it up, looked delicious! The Wayside Market sign states 'Home of the Famous Strawberry Shake' and they were not kiddening. It's the best strawberry shake in Miami. I have been coming here since I was a little girl, and we all call it the 'Fruit Stand'. This is a Pinecrest staple, where you will find Mom's taking their kids for an afternoon snack, joggers coming in mid-run, and bicyclist making a pit stop. Wayside always have fresh, seasonal vegetables & fruits available. There is also a variety or pre-made lunches and dinners (garbanzo corn salad is one of my favorites!) for sale. I always love their different dips, dried fruit/ granola, and sweet treats. Wayside caters to local business and always offers local merchant products. I've been coming to this little market for many, many years. Every time I'm in Miami I make it a point to come by, & it has never disappoint. They always have fresh fruits and vegetables. & not to mention they always do their best to bring in the most exotic fruits of the season. Also, their smoothies, & selection of hummus (sun dried tomato), are to die for. They also usually have organic pastries and delicious salads and quick bites. Although it is a bit pricey, what you might find there you can find in homestead for half the price, but who has time to drive to homestead? If it's a perfect sunny day and you're taking a drive or bike ride down Old Cutler road, GO to Wayside. The shakes are so and refreshing and they have a large variety of healthy snacks. In the back there's freezers with sandwiches, cold pastas, humus, salads. I prefer the cold marinara pasta. Don't be fooled by the small box its in, there's a lot in there. It's very shack-like but not dirty. There's even picnic tables for you to sit on and trees over head for shade so you're not directly in the sun. My sisters and I go there on sunny days after attending the beach or in the middle of a walk or bike ride and it never fails. It's a little shack of happiness :) read more

It was my first time here and I'm glad I finally came here. I ordered the apple with pear juice and sweetened it with honey. I loved all their options as my friends all had different drinks so I had to get them all. Best shakes the Pinecreast\Southeast Gables area. We usually bike ride to this location, take our 'little break' and then continue our journey. I always order the strawberry banana, medium size. Such a delicious combination, and together with the yogurt... yum! *happy dance* They also have fresh baked goods, fruits, and food. A great place for shakes and prepared foods. The strawberry shake and chocolate are my favorite but they have flavors like guava and key lime as well. They sell local prepared foods like pastries, cold salads, and also fruits. They have a few picnic tables to sit and enjoy your food. The parking fills up pretty quick, so think about biking there if you can. read more

Went there on a Sunday morning w my family and really enjoyed it. The refrigerated salads were spectacular especially the Curry Chicken Salad and all the produce. We loved the assortment of juices and shakes and the great old MIAMI atmosphere. Weren't crazy about the baked goods we tried but other than that it was fantastic. But when I go in at 5:15 to get a juice and you have posted on yelp that you close at 6:00 p.m. don't tell me that you can't make my juice because the bar is closed. Customer service is everything! Very unexpected place to stumble upon. They sell fresh produce and smoothies made fresh. They also have fresh coconuts and they give you a straw to drink from. A small shake was 4.50 while a medium was 6.50. They have pre-fixed menu but you can create your own juices or smoothies. read more

I ordered 2 coffees, the cream was sour, and not kept in ice or refrigerated...the sugar packets petrified rock hard, I guess they got wet at one point, also ordered a beef empanada which was actually good, and a tequeño, also not bad. The place is dirty, and I saw a few more health code violations...no soap, soup kept at room temperature... honestly I don't see myself coming back. Staff could use some training on being friendly and not take patrons for grated. I asked an employee to use the restroom to pee after a 15 mile bike ride and was told it was closed due to Covid (why I'm not sure) so after drinking my strawberry/banana shake which at best was fair (lacking any pink or red color or flavor of strawberry) and waiting a few minutes I asked someone else and she said sorry we have no toilets. A staple in Pinecrest. I've been coming here since I was a 5 yr old little thing asking my mom to buy me a cookies n creme shake after school. This place is old, its hot, and there are angry hispanic ladies. The essence of Miami people!! Lol but really, the food is good, lots of yummy healthy options, good juices and smoothies. Bring a hispanic friend if you can, they'll be nicer I promise ;) I have been picking up my brother from the school next door every Wednesday for early release for 2 years now and I love to take that 5 min walk over there and buy a mango juice with a yummy snack. After our last visit, I vowed that we would never return again and we haven't. We have been here many times with our kids, as they enjoy getting a shake or smoothie after a trip to Pinecrest Gardens. However, I find the prices to be very high and the staff is rather rude. Our karate school has an annual bike ride in the "winter" at Matheson Hammock and a visit to this market was our rest and refreshment spot. However, the owner/manager was so rude to us last year that the karate studio owners elected not to give them any business this year. I'm actually pissed that this place, which I once loved going to all throughout my childhood to adulthood, has been ruined only by some of the people who work there. The milkshakes, smoothies, other food are truly amazing. But at this point their customer service is so unbearable that I will never go again. I have always sensed the front lady to be off putting, but whatever I wanted my damn milkshake and she wasn't going to ruin that for me. I called once to ask a question about store hours (because maps and their page had 2 different times) , and the man on the phone was so incredibly rude to me. He insulted me for asking such a "stupid question" (his words). Absolutely disgusting. My boyfriend went today and the man began cussing him out when he went and asked where his food was after waiting some time. The man refused to admit he never called his name by saying my boyfriend was on his phone and not paying attention when he was simply waiting for his name to be called to get his food and it never was. He waited right by the register, and kept looking up to see if it was done. Idk who this man is, or who hired him but let me tell you... if you own this place and you are letting YOUR employees RUIN YOUR BUISNESS then good luck to you. I don't usually mind mediocre customer service, but this is shit customer service and a place I will never return to. read more

I was heading to Miami to see Canes basketball when a friend suggested we stop at a "fruit stand" for a quick snack before the game. He said they had smoothies and stuff other than fruit so we drove about 4 minutes from the UM campus and found the market inconspicuously on the side of the road. It's way more than just a fruit stand. While they do have produce, they have baked goods, paninis, pastas, salads, smoothies, snow cones and more! We walked around for a bit and I settled on a Greek Salad since my friend chose the curry chicken salad I was also eyeing. I also got a Mango Mania smoothie. We sat at one of 4 large picnic tables they have. There were tons of families that biked to place but there was also ample parking in front and on the side of the place. My salad and smoothie were just perfect. I also tried the curry chicken salad which was also kick ass. This was definitely a locals place but if you're in the neighborhood, check it out! read more

This place has these most delicious strawberry banana milkshakes. It's also a great stand and was a favorite of mine to and from school. Biggest downside is the price! It's very expensive for a 'market stand' but I guess it's just pinecrest pricing and most of the people that shop there don't care much about pricing anyway. My boyfriend and I had visited this place over a year ago and thought we found the best little spot ever. We love healthy tasty options and this place offered just that. Service-wise, it took a little long to get our smoothies but they were all friendly and we couldn't wait to go back. - Well fast forward to today. We went 30 minutes before they closed and have never felt so uncomfortable. We wanted to look around and buy some little things, but their gates were almost fully closed and they looked so annoyed with us getting there. One guy even announced "2 more" as we walked in. I would of been more understanding if it was 5 even 10 minutes before closing, but 30 minutes? All of their goodies from the counter were put away and as we walked out 20 mins before 6 pm (Sunday closing time), they closed the gate completely from the side where you order their smoothies. We couldn't wait to get out of there. The smoothies didn't even taste good, they tasted like they just threw something together really quickly. - It's unfortunate because we would like to go back and be loyal customers, but now we just feel unwanted. Cooling off on a Miami Summer Afternoon is perfect at this market. They are known for the awesome Strawberry Shakes and Smoothies but my son loves the Mango and swears it's the best! They have lots of home made baked goodies and local farmed produce, so it's kind of like our neighborhood "Robert is Here"" place {another Miami icon} After a day of kayaking or bike riding, this shady oasis off of old cutter is a real treat. They even have some prepared sandwiches, salads and salty snacks to grab for the boat or a picnic at Fairchild Garden. My wife loves the home made thick cut veggie chips and buys them in bulk for the Gulliver Water Polo team treats. This feels just right when you need to get away from US1 and all the Chains and congestion of life in the big city. So go stop at one of there picnic tables and just chilax a little! read more
