Both Sabrina and Jasmyne jumped through hoops to get the ball rolling and did everything they could to help us through the process. They were responsive, compassionate, and genuinely seemed invested in helping my family find the right care for my loved one. Unfortunately, circumstances outside of their control prevented the placement from moving forward, but that doesn't take away from the kindness, professionalism, and effort they showed us. When families are navigating difficult decisions involving a loved one's care, having people who communicate, listen, and actually try to help makes a tremendous difference. The initial review does bring up legitimate concerns about housekeepers&dietary aides doing work outside their sphere of training. While I did witness that a few times, most of the time, they simply made sure my friend was clothed, fed, and had a clean environment. He was able to live as independently as he could, until his Alzheimer's was so debilitating he was moved to another facility in Arizona. Aegis is clean&appealing. They have a friendly, personable, attentive staff. While it has its shortcomings (all facilities do), the positives outweigh the negatives. The parking lot is kind of small, but one can park on side streets. Very pleasant.

It's literally like a fancy restaurant for every meal for the residents! That cannot be beat! The entire place is immaculate, with no dirt or bad smells anywhere that we can detect, and that's a huge plus. Just the idea of assisted living usually conjures up negative things but Sunrise Villa creates a whole different experience, a wonderful one. My folks have only been there for one month, having come from a beautiful hilltop home on sonoma Mountain, and they are both already saying they are happy there. There are tons of amazing activities scheduled all day long, and their amazing two bedroom apartment gives them a living room, a bedroom,and an extra bedroom for my father's computer and office. On top of all that, Grace, who helped us through every step, is the most kind, loving, understanding, and patient person to help your family through this difficult time. She is amazing! Thank you Grace! Sunrise Villa is not cheap however, and you'll need plenty of money in order to stay there, but it's definitely worth it, and they have created an assisted living facility that takes the sting out of the painful family process that leads to the need for it. Hanz and Amy Palma are Casa Palma, two of the most caring people I've ever met. But getting back to the difference between a SNF and a residential care home... A residential care home is a small board and care residence providing personalized care and 24-hour supervision. An RCFE (Residential Care Facility for the Elderly) license is a mandatory certification required by the California Department of Social Services to operate an assisted living facility. It ensures the facility meets state health, safety, and operational standards for elderly residents who cannot live independently. The home setting provided at Casa Palma is so refreshing, especially after being in so many sterile and uninviting SNFs. Their home is lovely, and so clean! My father has been through so much this past year (cancer, back surgery, major pain issues, immobility) and has been pretty much bedbound for many months. We tried caring for him in our home, but were unable to manage because of his special needs. Hans and Amy are caring and compassionate people, and provide the peace of mind families are searching for. To say Hans and Amy go above and beyond is an understatement. My father had to be admitted to the hospital early in the afternoon for what was later determined to be a UTI. It was about 8:00 pm when the hospital diagnosed the UTI. They would not keep him overnight, which was disconcerting for us. He was transported back to Casa Palma at midnight. Hans and Amy were right there to welcome him back. They spent time getting him a bite to eat, dressing him, putting him to bed... the transition was seamless. My father was very confused, but their kindness and caring helped to put him at ease. Hans and Amy kept us up to date on everything, frequently calling or texting us about any changes, even sending photos. There was never a time when I called or texted that they didn't respond within minutes. My father was on a lot of meds, a lot. Hans and Amy seamlessly kept track of them and administered all as prescribed, right on time each day. They would contact his doctor when meds were running low, even went to the the pharmacy to pick up the refills. My father has recently been relocated to Bakersfield to be with his brother and sister. Otherwise, he would still be in the exemplary care of Hans and Amy. I also want to acknowledge the staff at Casa Palma. Such caring people, especially Anna. She really clicked with my father. Casa Palma is a smaller, cozier setting with caring and compassionate caregivers. My family will never forget their kindness.

As most of our family are secular and not religious this was very important for comfortability. The home has individual rooms and access to both front and back yard outdoor spaces. It's also relatively centrally located in Fairfield so we could grab any items he needed or wanted before our visits. I'd definitely recommend this care home to anyone.
