My first experience with this company will sadly be the last. I ordered several seeds & garlic at the end of July, aware that the garlic wouldn't come until October. Nothing arrived until late October, AFTER I emailed them about my order. They said it had been delayed due to a "tax issue," but would send it out ASAP. Then they informed me that 3 of the seeds/bulbs I ordered were out of stock and refunded me those. They had been in stock when I ordered in July. When the garlic arrived, one of the 3 heads was mostly rotten. read more

Easy to use website, but I have had numerous issues with their seeds: poor germination rate, incorrect item (jalapenoes without any heat), and worst of all - low seed count. I noticed the latter on several occasions - seed packets supposedly containing 25 seeds routinely contain 22; 30 seed packets contain 25. I started counting out of curiosity when the total seemed on the low side. When I complained, they sent me another seed packet. The first instance was 4 years ago, and this year it happened again. It's either sloppy quality control or something worse... I hate to write an unflattering review but hopefully they will do a better job in this regard. read more

Maybe once I get my seeds I can give them more than one star. I know that the world is in crisis due to the pandemic, but as one other reviewer said, "you can't catch covid over email." I placed my order on April 15th. Today is May 16th. No seeds, no email notification about the status of my seeds. Every other thing I have ordered during this time has come along with a few emails saying, "your order has not shipped due to covid" and then a few days or week(s) later, "thank you for your patience, your order will ship in _____ days." But nothing. The silence is surprising. My garden will be a bust this year due to my magical thinking everyday that "yes! Today will be the day the seeds arrive!" instead of going out and buying seeds elsewhere. read more

I placed an order for seeds with Pinetree Garden Seeds well in advance of the 2020 garden planting season. They did not arrive timely so after sending a couple of emails, I asked that the order be canceled as it was getting too late to plant. They never responded to my request to cancel the order. I acquired seeds elsewhere and planted my garden. I repeated my request to cancel the order 2-3 times but still no response. Then the seeds arrived. To this day I have not opened the package containing the seed packets. I have three times repeated my request to send the seeds back and get a refund. Have to drop a star on them this year. I've bought seeds from them for nearly a decade and I usually got my order in 7-10 days after placing the it. It took exactly 5 weeks this year, which delayed some of my early spring seeding. Apparently, they had such a boom in orders this year, they fell behind. A general web site announcement stated that they are 3-4 weeks behind despite a 30% increase in staff size. With rising cost of fresh vegetables and the uncertainty caused by the e. coli outbreaks on spinach, lettuce and tomatoes in the past couple years, more people have taken to growing their own food, which resulted in this mass of orders. Still, they provide no means of checking your order status and calling their customer service number got me disconnected every time. Hope they get it together for next year, since they are one of my favorite places to buy seeds from. read more

This company has absolutely no clue how to treat it's customers. I placed an order in March just after the state was quarantined. Both the website and pre-recorded phone message stated that they would be shipping orders 10-15 business days from the time the order was placed. They also said curbside pick up was available, but no one ever answered the phones so that was not an option. They spit out the same blanket email over and over again with no regard for personal service. All I wanted was an answer to my question: my order is over due, where is it/ when will it be sent? After three days in a row of leaving messages & sending emails, I opened a PAYPAL complaint against them. Literally less than 5 minutes after that, I received a PERSONALIZED email saying I would be receiving a full refund. Now, why did they have time to send me THAT email, but never answered my phone messages or other emails?! DO NOT purchase from this company. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. read more

I ordered seeds ftom Pinetree. When shipping was delayed by weeks, I contacted them by emails and voice-mail. I told them that I was done planting for the year and requested to cancel my order. I told them that I understood the shipping problem with the covid restrictions and would order next year. Today I finally received an email that my order had shipped. They had totally ignored my repeated requests. The seeds will not be good by next year. This means money wasted for me. read more

I order some seeds from Pinetree Garden Seeds around April 12, 2020. It's been a month and I still haven't receive them. I have tried several times to get in touch with them by email and by phone. They have a message that they aren't taking phone calls and that it might be 2-3 days to get to the phone messages. They have announcements that it might be a few days to answer emails. They said it might be 14 working to days to fill orders. The only emails I have received are ones thanking me for my patience. They need to stop thanking me for my patience because it got up and left weeks ago. I want my money back and can't even get them to acknowledge any attempts to communicate with them. This we're short hand stuff is BS. One day a week,someone can get on the line or phone and answer people's messages and someone can return people's money to them. You can't get the Covid virus from answering emails and phone messages. And you can't get it from returning people's money. But you can't get into trouble for not doing it. read more

We ordered from Pinetree on April 12th, the majority of our seeds arrived the first and second week of June. One packet arrived at the end of June. I realize that covid has delayed things, but this was ridiculous. We won't be able to use those seeds until next year! The things we planted had almost a zero germination rate. An entire packet of carrots has yielded three carrots, watermelon nothing, acorn squash nothing, sweet potato plants were dried up and dead on arrival, planted them as instructed in hopes they would come back, got four plants. Onion seeds, zilch. Green beans i would say about half germinated. We use a planting device that plants and spaces our seeds to exact specifications. Have never had this problem before. We plant a large garden every year, rotate things in our garden and put down aged manure for fertilizer. Our garden this year is SAD! the only thing we will have comes from plants or seed we bought elsewhere. I would not recommend this company, and certainly will not order from them again. read more

I have been a Pinetree Garden Seeds customer for twenty years, and I have purchased products varying from compost, small garden hoses, garden seeds, to cosmetic oils. I have never been disappointed, except when a favorite item was discontinued. As a matter of fact, I, unsolicited, promoted this company's earth-friendly products on a Native-American radio program that two friends and I hosted in the Washington, DC area for a good number of years. Heirloom tomato, Brandywine, 2015 year. Planted spring 2016, slow growing, very few flowers, some tomatoes did mature to small, flavorless, non-Brandywine flavor/color/shape fruit which were so few on the vine there was no point in even picking for canning them. And, in starting the seeds, I had extra oplants, and I gave them to neighbors and friends. I got calls all fall wondering if they were doing something wrong because there were no tomatoes on the vine! Very disappointed. Won't use Pinetree Garden and Seed again. read more
