I was surprised the whole time bc it was not something I would think to care about except for taking my kids to when they little many years ago. However it was actually so enjoyable and neat to be at. It is filled with so many people clearly for a reason. I'd recommend anyone go to it even if they think it's not their type of thing. It is very cool for sure. Also, the last thing we did was hop on that little train( which I didn't care to do at all without little kids with me) yet it was a shocker how that man driving the train who shares about all things throughout the event that you get to see again from a different view on that train...he was super awesome. I actually would have ridden that train and listened to that man over and over and over again. He was fun to hear from. It is not super expensive so do not resist to do it. Gather up your group or just you and your spouse or for take your kids if they are still young. This is for sure a fun enjoyable thing to go see.

We did enjoy tubing, but we bought our own from Walmart for much cheaper and since we were staying here, it was free and we just signed a waver. Beware of snakes though, there's a lot of them! Use small tackle and don't expect a fish fry!

The lady that runs the place is VERY hateful, they told us about the military discount being 10% off and then changed it to 8% without telling us, nothing is handicapped accessible, the ONLY bath house is next to the office/fun room that when they play karaoke they play XXX rated songs about sex and eating pu@@y, the restrooms were never cleaned and we were there for 4 days, our neighbor had his grey water drainage running down the hill INTO the river, quiet time was supposed to be from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am but every single night there were fireworks until midnight AT the campsites ( even though managers were contacted), the tent campers only had a port-o-John to use without any hand washing station, they kept saying that the shuttle ran on tips only but the drivers REQUIRED you to tip EACH time they shuttles you back to camp, and you have to sign a waiver that says no alcohol on the property but I couldn't count how many drunks were hooping and hollering every single night! My daughter also made a post about them and BIG WILLs CREEK CAMPGROUND deleted it and reported her to Facebook.

We would have full days of no water for 10+ hours. We would get emails stating that the water was back on, and it was in other loops but the pressure at our site and those close by was so low we couldn't get any to the actual camper. The bathhouse was also out so no luck there for even basics. Additionally the garbage dumpsters were very close to our site and overflowing the entire time resulting in awful smells wafting over regularly. Upon talking to the campstore they were unapologetic that we had no water, no mind the experience being less than desirable. They wouldn't refund the remainder of our stay, or allow us to move to another site unless we paid for the additional site. Multiple were actually aggressively pushing back that we just had to deal with it, and visibly annoyed that we were even complaining. This was additionally challenging because the only way for our trailer to exit was a road that had been dug up to put in the sewer lines and was not drivable. We were stuck, forced to remain for days in our spot, unable to even leave to go home unless we wanted to donate our camper to the state park. The construction site manager said this will be going on for a few months, so if you are coming summer 2026 watch out. While this also is not an all the time situation please consider how horrendous the most basic customer service is here before booking.

Lesson learned, but they don't have any WiFi services. We went back and looked on the website, but totally missed it. We noticed that the staff were very responsive, which was great. Just a couple of items I would recommend for maintenance/cleaning purposes. After a customer has left, make sure to check the outdoor bulbs. One of our porch bulbs was out, but the other one thankfully provided enough lighting. As you can imagine, it can get very dark at night. Also make sure to sweep around the porch area and look for cobwebs. Also make sure to check the utensils after each stay. Some of the utensils were cheaply made, and were used inappropriately on a grill. Also, the broom inside of our Airbnb probably either needed to be replaced or cleaned. We noticed that there was a lot of hair trapped within the broom bristles. So as we were trying to clean, the broom was actually leaving more and more hair on the floor. Also, keep in mind, you have to take out your own trash, which was a first for us. Lastly, you may want to bring your own pillows if you have any back or neck issues. They were super flat and uncomfortable. Other than those items, the Airbnb was clean. If you don't mind tiny places, then you definitely want to check out River Ridge.

The sites aren't shaded, it's not kid friendly, and there's nothing to do during the middle of the day. We sat by the fire at night. It was peaceful, but mosquitoes tried to eat us up. Even with bug spray. The dog park was good, but not shaded. There's no wifi, no free toilets, no free showers. You'll be okay if you have those things in your camper. We have an older class C van, so we weren't happy at all. I had such high hopes for this place, too. It should be better in 2030, when the newly planted trees get big enough to provide shade. Maybe they'll have a bathhouse by then, too.

It is BLAZING HOT in all of the showers/restrooms ALL OF THE TIME. You take a shower, even in the winter, and you are sweating before you can get dressed and get out of the shower house. When you stay long term, you are supposed to move every six months... but they let you move for a day, or a week, and then move back to where you were -- or you can just move and stay in the new spot. Some people who move for a day or so and return will leave all of their crap in the original site. So, they are basically occupying two sites for the price of one. This move is supposedly so that people don't become "residents" but it isn't working. Other fixed shelters besides your camper aren't "allowed" but dozens of people have them... some of the sites look like a landfill. Also, some of the buddies of whoever runs the place don't have to do the six-month move. The ladies who work in the store say that isn't the case but it obviously is the case. Even people who haven't moved have said, "I've been here four years, I only moved the first time, I haven't moved since". I did stay here for two years for a job.... but some pretty nasty people had moved in next to me... they kept making noise all night long at the staff refused to do anything about it. There was no place to move, so I moved out. Recently, I was passing through the area and decided to stay a few days.... well, they added a $5 free that is supposed to be "per transaction" but they cheated me... they tacked on the $5 fee FOR EACH DAY I stayed. Also, when I was "living" here, they started charging me for someone else's propane refills.... they required a credit card be kept on file... and I was lax in monitoring my credit card charges... and when I did, I saw EIGHT CHARGES of $21.50 each that weren't mine. They refused to correct. They said "we don't issue refunds". But you charged me for things I didn't buy. "Sorry, no refunds". They did "give" me my next propane tank refill at no charge but they wouldn't do any more than that. And for my last stay, there were people coming in at 10pm to use the showers every night; they weren't camping here. I reported it to the staff after I saw it happen three nights in a row.... this group of both males & females would occupy the men's showers for 2 to 3 hours... no one on staff cared at all. I'll NEVER stay here again.
