I had a huge overgrown tree removed by our utility box in the front of our house. The tree was blocking the view of the house and sidewalk but the positive is it hid the utility box. The Ping's group offered a solution to still block the utility box but remove the tree and beautify the area. They removed the tree, stump grinded the roots, and planted shrubs and sod. They were so professional, timely, and most importantly did a great job of communicating before, during, and after the project. I'd like to actually post two separate reviews! The crew that came to my home after a tree was struck by lightening were fantastic. The 100 ft plus Cottonwood was split with they estimated a five ton portion sitting on my neighbor's roof. The only thing keeping from crushing her roof is the maple that was helping to keep weight off her house. The crew was here until almost 1am with a bucket truck, a crane, chipper and a massive scoop to pick up the pieces too large for the chipper. They were professional, polite and hard working. Now for the bad - the AR department - we received our bill on a Monday which states 30 days to pay. By Wednesday, they were calling requesting payment. They continued to call multiple times. This actually made me not pay them immediately. Although I did just pay them. It has now only been 17 days since we received the bill. I feel that is completely unprofessional. read more

They were OK. We had a guy come out and give us an estimate, but the written estimate was super confusing. Emailed back and forth and then got on the phone to be extremely clear what we were asking. Thought we had it sorted and then when the crew showed up, they still did the wrong thing. To get the right cut, we were then charged an extra $400. The crew did a good job and cleaned things up well, but the process was not good and an extra $400 on a moment's notice is not a good experience. read more

We were given a fair quote and a time the crew would be out to cut 3 pine trees and a large bush down. The team was on time, and they finished their portion of the job. We were told the other team will come by in a few days ( once the city marks) to come and grind the stumps. We have been very pleased so far. I called to schedule someone to look at 2 trees in my yard. They were scheduling 2 weeks out, no problem. No one showed up on the date I was given. I called the next day and was told although there is a record that I called, there is no record of an appointment. Next appointment is another 2 weeks out. Bottom line, they really don't need my business. I have moved on. read more

We also had a bad experience with Pings. They may claim to be arborists but our tree that was trimmed after a storm sure doesn't look very nice. That's from the second time we used them. The first time they lopped off the top of a pine from a branch they cut off falling on it. We didn't complain on that occasion and we should have, but this time I am not taking it sitting down. On their second visit they also infringed on a neighbors rotten magnolia. The neighbor said he would sue them and they caved and we suspect (don't know for certain) they trimmed his whole damn yard for free. His trees look a hell of a lot better than ours. This is how this neighbor gets his work done for free. They caved and should have fought him. They will never earn another cent from him and they lost us too. read more

Horrendous. No communication. From estimate to finish, it took them two months to complete the job. Overpriced. You pay a premium, and they act like they're doing you a favor to do work for you. They want paid half up front, then they forget about you. When you call and ask what's going on and why the work you hired them to do isn't being done, you get lame excuses and attitude. No respect for the customer's time wasted waiting for them. I hired them to remove one tree, and I went above and beyond to make it as easy for their crews as possible. Yes, it was a big tree in a confined space, but not enough pre-planning and care was taken to protect my property. They tore out my phone and internet cables twice, grazed my garage marring a fresh paint job, and damaged the aluminum siding on my porch. Too much bombing, and not enough rigging. My yard looks like an artillery barrage hit it. I was going to overlook the relatively minor damage they caused (and the delays), and hire them to trim a couple of other trees in the fall or winter. Not bloody likely now with the disrespect and lack of communication I received from their office. I wouldn't hire this outfit again to rake my leaves. Every word above is accurate, yet Ping found it necessary to delete my exact same review on Google. Nice. read more

I chose Ping's because their bid was less than the other tree services in the area. Unfortunately, the service, or lack thereof, was not what was promised nor was it close to what other tree services have done in the area. Ping's promised to cut down and grind the stump of one tree in the front of my home -- all within the next two days. However, it took them almost TWO MONTHS to even attempt to finish the project. And, when it was "complete," it was a mess that resulted in complaints from my neighbors. Take my advice, pay a little more and get a good tree service. This experience was not worth it. read more

I had a few trees that I needed removed around my property. I got estimates from Ping's and a few other companies, but ultimately decided to use Ping's. The first appointment was missed and the foreman called to say they were stuck on another job that ended up taking all day. Eventually I was rescheduled for the next week, when they came out and removed four of the five trees they were supposed to remove. I called to see what happened and they said they messed up and would come take care of it. Finally, another week later, they took out the last tree. I can't fault them too much because, while this whole process shouldn't have taken nearly this long, a lot of these delays were because of bad weather. The work was good and exactly what I wanted once it was done. Unfortunately their service was far from exemplary. It seems like there's a big disconnect between the project managers in the office and the guys doing the work - nobody in the office seemed to know what was going on with any of their jobs. This ultimately does not reflect well on the company and leads me to question their competency. They did a good job taking care of my trees (eventually), but did a poor job taking care of me as a customer. I don't plan to use them again. read more

Arborist (Scott Mitchell) came and examined my trees (neighbor insisted I had bagworms and was fearful I would infect his trees). Ended up being another issue...Scott's work saved me $1250 in tree removal. He came the next morning, did his assessment, rendered a full report the very next day. Customer service to schedule Arborist brought experience to 4 stars... not personable at all. read more

I've been a previous customer. I called yesterday to see if I could get an estimate on trimming my tree's. I was told that if I didn't want to talk with the person giving doing the estimate, it would be free. But if i wanted to talk with the person when they came out to give me an estimate, it would cost me $125.00 per hour. How do you explain to someone what you want done if you don't talk to them??? I am entirely unsatisfied with the service I received. I was promised stump grinding by your employees on-site when removing my trees. I asked point-blank if I needed to pay for an additional service, but they told me that it was taken care of and that I did not need to take further action. After speaking with the office, I was not only told that this is not true, but that they will not be taking any action to remedy the situation. I chose Ping's hoping for great customer service, but what I found instead was a company that refuses to work with their customers. I cannot fathom that a company would promise services and then tell the customer that they are wrong, even though your own employees made the mistake. It was admitted by their staff that their employees on-site made a mistake, and the staff member (Chereese) assured me that the stump grinding would be taken care of. I was called by Operations and experienced one of the worst phone calls in my life. They were rude, unprofessional, uncaring and belittling. I will be following up with the Better Business Bureau, HomeAdvisor, the FTC and any local watchdog agencies to inform them of the poor business practices I experienced at Ping's. I am tired of arguing with management that truly hates their customers. read more

I have used Ping's for thousands of dollars of work - taking down trees, pruning, treatments - since moving into our home 10 years ago. Their arborists are truly experts. Unfortunately, my last engagement went very poorly. The issue - they come and review the work you need while you are not at home to be able to discuss. This always made me nervous, but it has been ok in the past - probably because we were just taking entire trees down (straight forward). This last spring, I asked for a large arm/limb be removed from one of our trees. They gave me an estimate of $279. It was one cut and one long limb, so this seemed reasonable. They said they would be out in 2-3 weeks. After over 4 weeks, I had to call. Next issue - they come and do the work while you are not there for discussion/approval. I came home after work, looked, and realized that they didn't remove the limb at all. They removed a tiny branch off of the limb. Small enough that we could have done it ourselves and could have been yard debris after a windy storm. FOR $279!! I assumed that they must have made a mistake. I called and they sent someone out (I insisted on being there this time). Without being able to see the tiny twig his team cut, he said that their work was correct and that if I wanted the whole limb it would be $379. I realized that I was being taken. They didn't want to admit they were wrong and have to send the crew back. After many calls/emails where I explained that I was happy to pay them $279 if they just completed the work - no problem, they sent it to a lawyer. I was asked to respond within 30 days with a response, I did, and the lawyer dropped it. So, now they have sent me to collections... I've spent thousands with them, but now its principle. It's not a professional way to treat a repeat customer that is 100% willing to pay for a done job. I'm not saying don't use them. We did for years. However, DO NOT let them do estimates and work while you are not there. Their idea of a tree, branch, twig, etc... may not be the same as yours. read more

I used Ping several times. The first time they did a good job. The second time they did a horrible job. Their trucks left huge ruts in my yard and their workers broke the gate into my driveway and never came to talk to me about it. I called and the manager apologized and had someone come and put in a new gate but it was of a much less quality than the original gate I had. I decided that I would not use their service again. But, we had an awful storm in early April and a 65 foot fir tree in front of our house went over. It covered our driveway and I could not get anyone to come and help except Ping. They did what we wanted by just opening up the driveway because we needed insurance to assess before any further work. This tree fall did $40,000.00 worth of damage to our house and took months to resolve with insurance et all. Ping did not send us a bill and so it did not get submitted with the rest of the bills to insurance and was forgotten on both sides. 2.5 years later, we get a bill from them demanding immediate payment. I asked for time to pay it off and they refused and try to lay the blame of late billing on me. This is very poor ethical business. I was working with my insurance company to see what could be done and then I receive a bill from a collector because Ping turned it over to collectors. All of this was within a 40 day period. Bad experience. Did not show up for 6 weeks, called them and left messages, but nothing happened. I hired someone else to do it. I got a bill 6 MONTHS LATER for 'wasted trip". Owner unwilling to clear the bill, reported them to BBB, and was forced to pay due to small print which says you need to cancel in writing. Just be careful, read the small print, they do not guarantee to come within any time frame, they might show up 6 months later and bill you. UNETHICAL in my opinion. read more

The crew that came to my house was fantastic, they arrived on time, explained all the work and answered my questions. The yard was completely cleared of all debris. They were professional and courteous. As outlined in the terms of the estimate I paid the crew chief with a check when the work was completed. The next day Ping's emailed me my invoice requesting payment, I replied that payment had been made directly to the crew. No response, so I assumed all was good. At 60 days I received a threatening call from the AR department billing manager telling me they needed payment and my account was in collections and "if they believed everyone that said they paid the crew when the work was done, they would be out of business". I was also informed that the fact the crew lost my check was not my concern as it could have blown out the window of the truck. Numerous other reasons why this was not Ping's fault followed (they are a big company, lots of jobs after mine, etc). Bottom line, great tree work but be prepared for chaos and negativity when dealing with the billing department. read more

The correct number for Ping is (317) 298-8482. Ping came out to give me an estimate, which I thought was reasonable, and then cut down 8 dead trees for me -- some very large. Everyone I've spoken with or met has been great to work with. They are respectful, they express appreciation for your business, they show up when they're scheduled, the crew is skilled and efficient, and they can communicate well with you. The young man who led the crew humbly but confidently told me that they work hard because they want to be working when other folks get laid off -- a good attitude in this economy. They were done in about 4-5 hours and cleaned up nicely after the job...and now I can see the LIVING trees rather than the dead ones. I expect to be doing business with Ping repeatedly. UPDATE: About two days later (as expected), Ping came back and completed the stump grinding. Everything was done *exactly* as agreed upon. Very nice work :) UPDATE: I've used them twice more, and my neighbors used them twice as well. Same excellent work EVERY TIME. An A+ company. read more

We had six medium size trees to be removed. All ranging from about 7" caliper to about 10" caliper. Got the estimate and was floored by the unevenness. For five trees, $365. For the sixth, it was going to be $315. Seems they were going to have to climb it. Only problem is the tree is too small to climb! Easily accessible. I think the problem is they didn't have to worry about damaging anything except with this tree. Called them to discuss and was pretty much told "this is how it is." PERIOD. They also claimed they were giving us a deal. Other estimates were $200 lower all the way around. I gave them the chance to match and they would not consider it. Seems they have overpriced themselves to too many people not getting multiple estimates. My view, GET ANOTHER ESTIMATE!!! You will save money and get better service. Stay away from Pings! read more

Never, never again! Trust the bad reviews, honestly, poor job in trimming, grinding the stump and clean up. I am still picking up cigarette butts and its been 2 months! I thought they ground the stump down so I could plant another tree but what I found after digging through the mess was a partial ground stump, large limbs and a 5'x5' mess. We had several very large trees in extremely difficult places to access. They have the largest equipment with the the longest booms I have ever seen, and they were able to bring these very large dying and somewhat fragile trees down very carefully. They are very careful to prevent damage to fences, equipment, and the house in the most difficult of situations. The staff is professional and very responsive to our concerns and requests. read more

I called Ping's on Monday april 2nd for an estimate for tree removal. I was told they would come out Tuesday the 3rd. Mr. Ping showed up at my house Monday evening instead. I needed to talk with my wife about the trees because I was not sure of which trees needed removed. I apologized to him and told him I would call him at 9 o'clock Tuesday to set up an appointment. He gave me a number which I called and was told they only did pest extermination. I called they main number and was told he would be here Tuesday. At about 5:30 I called the main number and told them I had to leave at 6:30 and was told he was in Lebanon but would be here by 6:30. I waited until 7:00 but when on my way out he calls and said he was coming, I told him I had to leave and couldn't wait. I asked him if he still wanted my business. He got very upset and would not let me finish. He said he was 60 years old and worked 14 hours a day not like me being lazy trash. I worked for 30 years in the same field until an accident I had 28 years ago with my back put me down. I worked 28 years with a bad back in pain until it became to much for me. Mr. Ping, before you call someone lazy trash, you should try to walk in their shoes first. read more

I was searching for an arborist from a reliable company to help me with a tree that looked bad in my front yard. Upon reading reviews, I chose Ping. It was a mistake. My original call to Ping was the second week of April. It is now the first week of June. The tree was needing help is still untouched in my front yard looking worse each day. I have patiently waited calling weekly to get an update on my work order. Each time, I was told that an answer would be returned later that day or the next business day. No one returned the calls. I would have to call back. Finally, a crew came and removed a tree in my back yard. But, they were unable to do anything with the rest of my work because it wasn't on their work order. Today, I decided that it was time to give up on Ping after they didn't return my call from yesterday as promised. I cancelled my service. This afternoon, someone from Ping called to tell me that my work order was scheduled for tomorrow. During the call, I was referred to as pompous for cancelling the work and impatient for not waiting on their return calls despite waiting nearly two months. I commented that I would not recommend their service and make reviews accordingly. The caller advised he would simply refute any review that I made. So, beware of the reviews for Ping. read more
